  1. this is the first I've heard of it. has this happened to all the GS430s you have owned?
  2. just ipod I'm afraid, as it has an ipod dock connector at the end of the cable
  3. I dont think CC saves fuel - as it constantly feed fuel into the engine. its a comfort / driver aid feature - not an ecomony feature. I'll bet you would get better mileage with a gentle and careful right foot than you would with CC
  4. sheesh - that sounds great. never been close to the 30 figures ^^these guys are talking about. 26.7 is my best, with an average of around 17 :(
  5. Jeroen, mine is a 2001 GS430 mate - and mine supports MD emulation. not guaranteeing yours does - just saying mine is the same year / model :D
  6. hmmm - dont like the fact that you need to register in order to see the details
  7. car looks great - and you obviously are very happy with it! good for you :D just thought I would point out that you need to enter the information for servicing into this screen - it does not "automagically" tell you that an (eg) air filter change is needed. You say at what mileage each maintenance item is due - and the car will remind you.
  8. the unit supports MD and CD Test emulation, so if MD emulation is not an option, then you will have to use CD Text
  9. think this is an isolated incident - I have ordered from them twice, and both times had my plates within 4 days. computer problems sounds a reasonable excuse. give them a call
  10. would imagine it will depend on numbers mate I believe this will work with any Lexus - and will be a LOC group buy, drivers of any model will be eligible. The ipod is only on when the car is on - I've certainly had no issues with this, and its been in the car a good few months.
  11. there are two screws on the same side as the cover - if you undo them, it should lever up on that side, giving you access to the cover and eject button
  12. NOTE: this is how I did it on my GS and IS - LS may be different. remove the boot lining etc, so you can access the drive. slide the cover on the front of the unit - this should reveal an eject button. eject the old disk. insert the new one. Turn on the car - if there are any firmware upgrades needed (and I suspect there will be) then keep the engine running until they are all done. Its really easy - you cant go wrong. Only caveat I would add is turning the car off while any firmware updates are running is not a good idea - I have no idea what will happen if you do that
  13. keep your eyes on the fourm next week then ;) very easy to fit, simply plugs into the back of the stereo - and does exactly what it says on the tin - lets you play your ipod through the OEM stereo. Complete with track details on the OEM screen. very, very cool B)
  14. yes - it works with the older nav Brett. Prices are not set yet - still talking to the supplier. Will be the usual deal I expect - the more people sign up, the cheaper they will be ran. It will also be available on LOCUS - so hopefully we get quite a few signups, and drive the price down B)
  15. I have a ipod unit in my GS430. I shall be launching a group buy on these very soon. Ipod hidden in the glovebox (hanging out for illustration purposes only - it fits much better than that) Uses MD emulation to display song, playlist, artist and album information on the OEM screen. the unit integrates flawlessly into the standard Lexus stereo. The ipod can be controlled using the touch screen, or the steering wheel controls. I love it - it is a fantastic unit. Utterly stealth - there is no sign of the ipod anywhere, and you control it just like you would any other audio device.
  16. why would it slow the machine down? there is no (real) difference between having a wired network card installed uin your machine, with a cable coming out of it into a second NTL box, and having a wireless card in there connecting to a router by the cable modem.
  17. nice one Paul - glad to hear you've got it back on the road mate :D
  18. I'm pretty certain the one I was looking in did. wonder if its related to whether the auto lights are on?
  19. Anyone been in contact with Alex lately? Been trying to contact him, but not having any luck :( Normally speak to him on MSN, but having laptop problems, and only really online during the day in work now.
  20. my partner ordered some books which were delivered yesterday by parcelforce. only 2 out of 3 parcels came (not their fault - its coming today). However, when she checked on the parcelforce website to see the status, she was quite surprised to see a scribbling, illegible signature for the two parcels that were delivered. Not only was she not asked to sign for the delivery, the driver had recorded that it had been signed for by a neighbour. So - the driver did not ask for a signature, then recorded that it was delivered next door, and scribbled a false signature.
  21. Rob is right about tyres. If you do not have winter tyres, it is still eminently possible to drive your GS in the winter - you just need to take more care. I got my GS430 on quite wide, low profile, all season tyres (245 / 40 / 18) around OK last year with snow on the floor. (Although the first time I took it up a snowy hill, it took some getting used too - I'm not used to looking through the side windows. Fortunately, I was going really slow, and there was nothing on the road). The tips would be the same as for most cars: 1 - Do you NEED to drive? Dont make any unnecassary trips. 2 - SNOW mode is your friend - it does help 3- Be very careful with your right foot, very gentle acceleration and braking. 4 - Be very gentle with the steering
  22. of course - they also have to get past the Clifford Blackjax ;)
  23. got any linkage for this Brett? cant see anything on their website - would quite like to sign up myself
  24. its a CBEST setting - speak to your dealer. My dealer could not get the autolock to work - the ECU was not having it. They did however activate the un-lock when you shift into P. So - I get in the car, and lock myself in. When I stop, and put it in park, the doors automatically unlock
