  1. Hi, I called Lexus on the same issue - they advised the new maps tend to come out in january. The one they are advising me to replace was last issued November 2006 so it would seem a new one is due. normaly map updates coming out in the september/october timeframe. last version (2007-2008) is on the market since october. it contains now 4 DVD's. one for europe west (GB, ireland, benelux, france, italy, spain and portugal), europe central (france, benelux, germany, swizerland, austria, italy), europe north (norway, sweden, finland, danmark, benelux, germany, swizerland, austria, czech and slovak republic and poland). europe east (italy, swizerland, austria, czech and slovak republic, hungary and poland). the version from 2006 (issued september/oktober 2006) is the last version with europe on one single DVD but without east europe (poland, czech and slovak republic and hungary). ... confused: is the new 4 disk dvd compatible with the 1 disk earlier model, you just use the relevant disk for your region? If i access the lexus map website its still recommending the November 06 update PZ485-L03EU-06, no hint of any October 07 update...

  3. Hi all, does anyone know how often the DVD for the RX400h sat nav is updated? Mine from memory states 2004/5. Also, do we have to buy new disks through the Lexus dealership or is it an off the shelf disk that can be bought cheaper elsewhere? Any guidance gratefully received!
  4. Anyone have experience of using the RDS-TMC traffic system on their car abroad? Mine is fully functional in the UK, detects when I pass into a new country and the RDS-TMC option is set to automatically select the country and the station. It just always comes up with 'no reception' when abroad..... I have seen that some countries have free info and some charge but I have gone through France, Germany, Austria and Italy with no joy...any ideas?
  5. Hi Ian, look in the lexus website and email a set of dealers from around the country stating your interest, requesting a quote and that you have a car to trade in. Most of the dealers will be happy to deliver the car to you so no need to stick local. If you are lucky, you may find that two or three of the dealers have one in stock that you can take immediately if you are prepared to take their colour / spec through orders being reneged on. Once you have found three that want to talk with you and are prepared to be flexible, deal with all three and they will offer you a more realistic deal to win the business from the others. These are tough times for car dealers. The trade in will give you an easier route to get a discount: rather than explicitly discounting the car they can offer you a more generous trade in value than your existing car is worth. Shop around and be prepared to walk away.
  6. This car has made it an absolute pleasure to drive again, which in London is no mean feat. It has completely exceeded my expectations and I would happily make the same decision again. My only niggle is that whenever you open a door any water on the roof sills drips on the car seats which i guess is the price to pay for a smooth door profile, but hey... :)
  7. Hi Gazman! I believe I read a post somewhere about how to switch off the seat belt buzzer, had something to do with pressing the ODO button, turning the key ... don't recall all the steps and of course I don't find the post right now. But then again, who knows if that one works on the :tsktsk: european models, or has been removed for obscure reasons, as has the autolock feature. Dan Don't bother, nanny stopped that one working too.....
  8. can i recommend a site? Absolutely no link to me whatsoever but I have physically been to the place, met the boss a couple of years ago, it works well, and have used them since. The main phone companies use resellers and this one passes most of its incentive back to clients. The end result is that you get the operators' best deals direct on your bill, but then this company also give you cashback vouchers which you can send in for up to around £150 to £200 back in a year. I styart a new contract with them every time my existing contract runs out of its lockin, and then transfer my old number over. I just bought an 18 month contract with t-mobile, free RAZR phone, an entire year of free rental and then normal monthly rental for next 6 months. Plus you order one day, everything comes the next. www.mobileshop.com
  9. So. A little bit of perseverance goes a long way... Having sacrificed an hour of my life explaining to Tfl that Lexus has confirmation from them that the V5 and invoice are sufficient, and then explaining to Lexus that Tfl don't agree, those nice people at Lexus let me talk directly to the person in charge at Tfl who gave them the green light. The exemption application has now been immediately accepted. The issue is that neither the Tfl call centre staff nor the front line people who process the discount application are aware just yet that for a factory fitted hybrid they only need a V5 and invoice to process the discount, and so they quote the story told before. So if you have any problems in registering call Lexus (main contact centre is now aware) and they will help you out...
  10. Don't tell me you reckon it's just designed to make the process difficult ? Tfl kind of laughed and explained the rule is the rule..... they also explained that they are getting the same confusion everytime someone tries to register a Toyota or a Lexus hybrid...so for the avoidance of doubt, here is the quote on the notification I received. I think it means that a normal invoice just doesn't do the job: " You will need to enclose a copy of your vehicle conformity certificate or invoice from an Energy Savings trust approved LPG installer / main dealer that certifies the vehicle make, emissions band and details of the type of LPG equipment fitted * * These details are required for both factory manufactured alternative fuel vehicles and those subject to an aftermarket conversion " Bless.
  11. Update on this....ugh. Congestion charging people are not accepting V5 and invoice as their documentary proof that the car is what it is, despite the fact its in the powershift register ... Tfl require a copy of the V5 and a copy of a 'certificate of conformity', essentially a letter from the dealer stating that the car is in compliance with the powershft register. Called Lexus, who say TFL have confirmed V5 and invoice are required, called Tfl who say they continue to have this problem with Lexus and Toyota as the invoice is not sufficient , they need this separate form...
  12. I have the 2005 RX400h, have tried the ODO/ seatbelt tip and the tapping top left bottom left screen corners, neither seems to work.... anyone have a definitive list of what works on which car?
  13. Can't give you any advice on those but can confirm: Sony Ericsson T630/610 works fine, can download the whole phone book no problem. Motorola V50 works fine but can only transfer phone book one at a time. Blackberry V7100 works as a phone but you can't download any phone book entries due to security paranoia. And once the security timeout lock kicks in on the blackberry, then you can only call by entering the password on the phone which is a major bugbear....
  14. Its a much better site than i would have guessed. It annoys the hell out of me that you have to register, but you could of course accidentally register with a wrong address, it only needs a working email address..
