  1. Thanks for posting that up Paul!

Yeah I phoned an install place and they said I'd lose the amp probably and speakers also.

So I'm trying to get an Aristo with touchscreen. Otherwise I'd need to install a new system, amp at least.

Is your car 4-speaker or 7-speaker stereo?

    Hello mate,

my system is the JBL 7 Speaker.

You won't lose your speakers all you need to do is find the wires leading to the amp from existing system.

Then from the Amp find the wires going to the speakers.

Remove amp and cut plugs off and match/join wires from system to amp wires, thus cutting out amp.

I made a note of wires etc I will find them out for you.

    All the best Paul.

  2. I'm considering buying a Lexus GS/Aristo Mk.2 without touchscreen.

That means it has a 2-din type double height stereo to be replaced.

Was considering replacing it with 2-din size unit from Pioneer / NAV/MP3/DIVX etc.

Will it just slot in or do I need some sort of fascia to go around the unit?

    Hello Mate

Yes you do need to buy a install kit, got mine from the states.

simple to fit but you have to bypass the amp in the boot.

    Have a look below

I have got the instructions - I think I can find them out and e-mail across if this will help.

    All the best Paul.

  3. I am looking to do my ROSPA advanced driving test in my GS in the next couple of months. I didn't want the examiner pulling the plug on the test because the brakes were shot. Gets embarising when your steering wheel wobbles undre braking.

    Thaks again for your comments.

Good luck with your advance driving, just make sure you have a box of tissues handy!

For the examiners nose bleed when you brake :whistling:

    All the best

    Paul.

  4. How do they get power? Do you have a trailing cable to feed into an auxillary socket, or have you had them wired in some clever manner?

Hello, All the cables are running down inside the two chrome supports.

You then have to feed them into your seat - I just took the seat apart found it easier.

I did have power in my seats but this was a constant 12v and I wanted one that was switched on & off with the ignition.

So I had to run cable out under seat and under carpet, up into center console following original wiring loom. then into back of DVD unit.

Wasn't that bad really - you just need to take your time and care.

    Regards

    Paul.
