  1. Same noise since day one (11.11.2005) , unfortunately with or without the luggage cover locked...
  2. Here goes http://www.carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalLexusRX330Str.htm Tony Just have a look here. Williz has made a really helpfull documentation about it: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=36952 By the way, has anybody let drop screws in doing it? I did not manage to get them back!
  3. To my knowledge, Lexus is not yet governing us, so why should we regard its corporate policy as a universal rule? Should you care about everyone safety, you would urge Lexus to supply a system useful when it's needed the most, ie when driving (vs when parked)! The best option for that which I've found (and I've done a LOT of searching) involves splicing together the new firmware with a file from the old firmware, burning to disc and installing the firmware from that. You can then get into the setup menu which will still contain the override menu. The problem with this solution, or even using override if on the old firmware anyway, is that it only lasts until you restart the car again. The other option of splicing wires together isn't an option, IMHO. That would probably void your warranty, and means you have to provide a switch to turn off the speed signal. Whilst that's turned off, the satnav can get quite confused. I probably have linkys for more info if you're interested. G I'm interested in alternative solutions!
  4. well, then i think i have missed the point to! can you please explain it to me jaroph? Ullevi's message explains it well enough Jaroph, I wonder who is badly missing the point. I guess it shouldn't be too hard for you to understand we don't really drive the same car. OK, we both drive a hybrid car, and that's very pleasant. As long as we focus on the hybrid part of the car, there is nothing to argue about, we certainly share the same great experience. But, according to your geographic location, your have to know your model is sold with more features than ours, for a lower price. European RX400 have no extra equipment you wouldn't be able to order in your country. But oddly, some basic options are missing on european models, like the auto-locking of doors, etc.. that Lexus Europe do not care to handle. (I won't forget it when I buy my next car, but I guess Lexus behaviour won't change as long as a majority of its european customers don't care either. After all, perhaps you're right, we've got what we deserve: less than american guys, but a few guys like Williz and I do not share this point of view) To conclude, I'm sure you got it, now! However, should it still not be the case, I would be very glad if you don't mind swapping your model with mine, and pay me back the premium on european model...
  5. Tommo & Ulevi, so you guys are ready to cash a EUR 5.000 option and do not bother being unable to use it when - guess what - you happen to drive and then need it the most. Sure, Lexus Europe must be used to dealing with such perfect-all-but-demanding-clients. At least, that could explain why they don't feel the need to improve such a poor customers relationship experience. Of course, you are so smart you had been given (and read) the 500 pages - and the 120p. navigation system - user guides BEFORE buying the car and were ready to test the system when you tried the car... Incredible, yes, I hardly believe I can find such good candidate for buying my own car when I resell it!
  6. That's the point. For our european models, we pay more for less features... Just have a look to the us user guide to understand how badly considered we are. I don't understand why: - we can't set the doors auto-locking mode (perhaps car jacking doesn't exist here?) - one must unlock all the doors to have the backdoor open, and wait for the complete backdoor shutdown to be able to lock the car. - when you park your car, the lights remain on - when set to auto - until you open the door. - we can't have the automatic folding of rear view mirrors - we are to cope with the standard power outlet (12 VDC) where us cars own also a 115 VAC - one has decided we don't need the homelink feature, nor to choose to pay a premium for the adaptative cruise control - lexus managers think we're so stupid we can't play with the same kind of bluetooth and gps systems than bmw or mercedes car drivers have, unless it's we're so smart we would all use the us tricks? By the way, I'm amazed to see how quickly it is to have the car batteries drained when fully accelerating...
  7. Hi Patrice! Thanks for that! I fiddled around a bit with the quality setting (the last one you mention), without noticing any difference in sound quality, no matter which setting I chose. Anyone out there knows the meaning of this setting, and what the best set-up is? Dan Hi Dan, Perhaps, would you like to try your handset in my car, so you be able to know if it is a compatibility problem or...your car! Luxembourg is not so big, we should manage to meet sometime. Kind regards, Patrice
  8. Easy done: - Push the "Display" button - On the new overlay screen that appears, there are 2 bars, on the upper and lower edges of the current screen. - What you now need to do is push alternativly three times in the upper left part then lower left part of the screen, but staying outside the 2 bars. (e.g. upper left, lower left, upper left, lower left, upper left, lower left) - A service menu should appear, with a "Menu" button in the upper right corner. Push that one too. - Now choose the last menu point on the new screen to get to the bluetooth settings. Cheers, Dan Many thanks Dan, I've missed it a few times but finally I've got it. So, on my car, the settings are 0 / 0 / 5 (from the top to the bottom) Kind regards, Patrice
  9. Has someone managed successfully to get into this service menu. (I mean for european RX400 model) If so, you would be kind to describe the process step by step!
  10. I use a Qtek 9100. The phone works fine, dialing, takin' on calls etc. I found a compatibility list from Lexus that was posted on some forum and the QTEK appeared and was said to work. Except that the sound quality (incoming an outgoing) is crap. Sounds like I was standing 10m away from the microphone. So my guess it's not the phone but the handsfree installation. And of course the f... lockup of phone and navigation as soon as the car starts moving. Drives me nuts :tsktsk: Could you perhaps check out to which settings your bluetooth kit is set and post them (see PhoneDrome's post above). I've been playing around with different settings, without much result. OK Dan, I'll try to report it tonight. I got my car in November and the list I was sent dated 21.09.2005, but the only QTEK models listed were S100 and S9090...
  11. Hi Dan, what brand/ phone model have you tried to use? Lexus belgium (at least) regularly issues an updated gsm list, where compatibilities, procedures to pair and syncronize etc.. are described. I use a siemens SX1 and I'm really satisfied. When someone calls me while I'm driving, it is often a surprise when I explain I'm on the move. However, I'm really fed up whith the so-called security settings in order to limit the use of the navigation and communication system. At least, we could join and put the pressure on the belgium marketing manager...
  12. No it didn't work, I guess these "little tricks" are not allowed on UK cars They do work. I have done with my 05 RX 300SE. Try the following: turn the ODO to full meter reading (not the trip computers. Turn off the car Now turn the car onwith the ODO button pressed. Count to 20. On the count of 20, fasten the seat belt. You will get a menu which says b_on release the ODO button and press it again The menu will change to b_off Turn the car off All done. The seat belt beeping is now off. Would love to find a trick for this phone thing. Its quite annoying. Tried many times and NOT worked for me either....... I tried on my RX400h (bought in Luxembourg) the seat belt trick and it worked. But no other trick has worked until now. In some way, I feel ripped off to have spent 4500 euro for a system one can't use while on the move. Should you start a petition, I'm your guy.
  13. Finally, a tip that works on european models... Thanks again SuperChargedL ! Does anybody know how to bypass these c :tsktsk: gps navigation and bluetooth system limitations? us tips don't seem to work
