  1. What about renewing the road fund licence, its out of date :winky:
  2. My car can manage 42mpg on a long motorway run at around 70mph. Short journeys vary between 25-28mpg depending on winter or summer. It went in yesterday for 12 month service, injector change, remap of ecu and alloy wheel replacement. Has not been returned yet as ecu locked up when being worked on. New ecu due next wednesday so will find out then of any improvement. Are you having the 5th injector changed or the whole lot? If it is the lot was there a specific problem that made your dealer decide to do this? My dealer told me that they have changed the 5th injector on a few cars but only after there was a problem with the engine management system when it went into limp home mode and the problem was directly caused by this injector. My car has over 11000 miles on the clock and the fuel consumption, which I was told would get better the more miles went on the clock, is getting worse. This car just does not do what it says on the tin i.e. combined fuel consumption of 44.8. But then what can you expect from a car that shares (among other things) a start/stop button with a Yaris. Is this Lexus taking the p :tsktsk: or what From what I have been told its only the 5th injector, the dealers know which vehicles are eligible but can only change if a fault occurs or is reported, as it is not a recall. I am concerned about the continued alloy wheel problems, which seem to be continuing through to the new IS. It cant be that difficult to source non corroding alloys, non Japanese manufacturers seem to manage.

  4. Well got my car back from the dealers after checking fuel consumption. Everything is in order, and their comment was a mid 30s mpg is what their demos and courtesy cars are achieving, as well as customers cars.
  5. If anyone is interested the official fuel consumption figures are based on the following: FUEL CONSUMPTION TEST (Directive 80/1268/EEC as amended by 2004/3/EC) The new test has been agreed internationally and provides results that are more representative of actual average on-road fuel consumption than previous tests. There are two parts: an urban and an extra-urban cycle. The test cycle is the same as that used to determine the official exhaust emission classification for the model of vehicle in question. The cars tested have to be run in and must have been driven for at least 1,800 miles (3,000 kilometres) before testing. Urban cycle The urban test cycle is carried out in a laboratory at an ambient temperature of 20°C to 30°C on a rolling road from a cold start, i.e. the engine has not run for several hours. The cycle consists of a series of accelerations, steady speeds, decelerations and idling. Maximum speed is 31 mph (50 km/h), average speed 12 mph (19 km/h) and the distance covered is 2.5 miles (4 km). The cycle is shown as Part One in the diagram below. Extra-urban cycle This cycle is conducted immediately following the urban cycle and consists of roughly half steady-speed driving and the remainder accelerations, decelerations, and some idling. Maximum speed is 75 mph (120 km/h), average speed is 39 mph (63 km/h) and the distance covered is 4.3 miles (7 km). The cycle is shown as Part Two in the diagram below. Combined Fuel Consumption Figure The combined figure presented is for the urban and the extra-urban cycle together. It is therefore an average of the two parts of the test, weighted by the distances covered in each part.
  6. Can you let me us know what they find with regards to the high fuel consumption, thanks. Sure will, goes in a week today and will let everyone know the outcome good :) or bad :duh:
  7. Unfortunately my IS 220d is going back to the dealer for a creaking dash, they know what this is as they have already fixed one. Also to look into high fuel consumption and a fault that they have not come across- the rear camera has come up with the message "guidance unavailable" on a number of ocassions. Told it will be a couple of days - hope that is it then
  8. Jamboo Glad your enjoying it, cos it is a lovely car. And the colour is great :winky: I chose the same but with grey interior.
  9. Has anybody complained to Lexus direct, rather than a dealer, regarding the mpg position on IS220d? If so what was the response.
  10. Hi My IS220d is at 34mpg after 500 miles, but just done a 250 mile trip to Chester and around and back. Filled up before setting off and reading from last tank fillup shows nearly 41 mpg. Not what I was expecting!
  11. That's interesting - so does the indash changer take 6 or 7 discs including the DVD Mapping OS? Good luck mate and let us know what they do... Jamboo You can load 6 CD's or DVD's one after the other. According to the manual, to change the DVD mapping you use the tools in the tool kit to release the clock panel. Then use the sat nav screen to instruct the system to eject the DVD.
  12. I was insured through Churchill, but no mention of the diesel on their site, so a quick phone call and a quote was forthcoming. £260 approx including ncd protection.
  13. I worked in the retail motor trade for 18 years, however it was not a luxury brand but the leading manufacturer in Britain. The incentive campaigns varied but nearly always were based on sales objectives. Each dealer had an annual sales objective, then split into monthly objectives based on the % each month represented of the annual figure. So July's objective would be nowhere near a twelfth of the total. Incentives were based on registrations dates, so the end of a month would be quite busy. I think thats why they brought in road tax of a year and a week. The dealer paid the weeks fee and the customer still got a full years licence if he took it the 1st of the month.
  14. Out of interest, what MPG have other 220d drivers been getting? Only done 100 miles or so 80 of which motorway, showing 34 mph at the moment. Not too impressed at the moment. :duh:
  15. Hi Everyone Just picked up my IS 220d SEL MM, and although early days loving it. Quite a change after 5 years driving auto mercs. Just need to get to grips with the gearing ratios as they seem strange after all this time. I seem to remember seeing that there is some way of programming the car to lock doors at 5mph or so, and change which doors are unlocked when using the fob. I have no idea where I saw this, or even if I was dreaming. Anyone know anything please, as the dealer could not help. Also would this enable the door mirrors to fold automatically when turning off the engine. Many thanks
