  1. Acted up again this afternoon, started on 3rd attempt, tried taking key out and retrying but still no go. Is this a common problem or is it just 3 of us that suffer this fault. I can see one day it will just not fire up.
  2. Over the last week I have been having probs starting. When starting from cold the engine turns over fine but sometimes does'nt fire up, I have to try 2 or 3 times. On other occasions it starts 1st go. When started it runs perfectly. Dont think its battery as it turns engine well and called into Kwik Fit who tested it and say its fine and alternator is charging well. Any ideas gladly welcome.... P.S It is not running on Tesco petrol !!!
  3. I took out a policy with 'warranty direct' last Sept, cost me about £250 and covers everthing that a Lexus warranty would and repairs can be carried out by Lexus dealerships. So far I havent made a claim but independent reviews are good for them. P.S dont accept their 1st quote they will keep phoning/writing to you each time dropping the price. Good luck.. Willowwood is there a maximum £ per claim on the warrenty ? Thanks Claim limit is £5000 with £25 excess, this policy includes recovery, hire car and hotel accommodation if needed.

  5. Looks like the seal around the glass is made in 2 sections, mine has a 2" split between the two and seems to getting bigger. Fortunatly not leaking inside yet though. Does anyone know if it can be repaired, resealed or is it a new glass assy. Hope its not the latter as I cant imagine there cheep to replace. Any comments gladly welcome
  6. Lots of varying opinions but it seems like the Eagle F1 has the most votes. Do they last as long and do they have the rim protection like the Lexus standard Dunlops ?? Sorry forgot to ask, is it the Eagle F1 GSD2 or GSD3 that we seem to prefer.
  7. I am getting ready for some new boots, done 21k on original Dunlops which I think is OK. Has anyone got any advise on a better tyre, I dont thrash it and do approx 8k per year. Have found 'Dunlop sp9000 mfs Lexus' for £97 each fully fitted from www.valyetyres.co.uk which again I think is OK.
  8. I have been advised by Lexus that when alloys are replaced for corrosion they come with another 12 month warranty. They will keep replacing them indefinatly as long as it is within the 12 months of replacement.
  9. I am on my 2nd set of alloys, these have been on for 10 months and are showing early signs of corrosion (milky white marks). I will be taking them back for replacement before 12 months is up, just wondering about asking if I could upgrade to the later 2004 alloys. Does anyone know if these corrode as quickly as the originals or have they got it right on these.
  10. Thanks mate, Looks a nice neat job, I have been qouted £750 by lexus or £390 by local towbar fitting specialist so think will go with the specialist. PS. what do you tow? We are wanting to tow a 1200kg caravan which I believe is within the limits but I have'nt come across anyone who does tow a caravan. So I would be interested to know how it performes.
  11. Am wanting a Brink detatchable towbar fitting. Does anyone know if the rear skirt needs cutting or not. Any photos would be great.
  12. I would have said exactly the same as you a couple of years ago, but having a young familyand seeing new caravans I have become enlightned. I would still like to hear from anyone who has towed a caravan or even seen one being towed by a Is200
  13. Sorry forgot to mention it is a manual so as I understand an oil cooler is not needed.
  14. I am considering getting a caravan. (Yes I know this will make me very unpopular to many !!) Does anyone out there have any experience of towing with a IS200 SE ? Is it a good tow car or should I forget it. I see Lexus state it can pull 1200kg's but I would like as much feedback as poss before I take the plunge and get an ugly towbar fitted.
  15. I was in the same position as you with a 3 year old, but have gone for 'warranty direct' policy costing me £260 using Lexus main dealers as opposed to their network repair agents. Having examined the policy it looks good, they also cover many wear and tear faults and also come out well in independant reviews. PS dont accept there first quote, I was quoted £350+ when I did online qoute but they wrote to me twice reducing the cost each time..
  16. The sole purpose of any insurance is to make money for the people selling it. In other words, on average, your car will suffer less than £610 worth of faults during the period they are covering. With some insurances, eg home insurance, the ratio of premium vs risk is so low as to make it an extremely cost effective way of protecting yourself. It's very unlikely that your house will burn down, but if should then the £300 premium will save you the cost of replacing £300,000 worth of house and possessions. But with a car warranty, especially one that's pretty reliable to start with, the benefits start to look somewhat less clear-cut - it's not hundreds of thousands of risk, the cost of a fault is likely to be rather closer to the cost of the premium itself. Sure, you could be unlucky and your engine could throw a con-rod through the block, but how often do you hear of that happening? Put the money for two years worth of insurance into a high-interest savings account - if you need it the money's there, if not enjoy the proceeds! Mike
  17. I bought a kit on ebay 4 rear, 2 front with display that fits neatly behind the ashtray under the radio. It cost £35, £10 for colour matched paint from Halfords and £5 for laquor. Fitted within 1 day and works perfectly. Just enter 'parking-sensors' on Ebay, the seller was gary-kw-uk. Good luck....
  18. I had the set changed on my IS200 and IS300, and after the change they were fine. The new ones were also easier to clean. Will get them to check again as it is due its service soon, are they just covered by the standard 3 year warranty or have Lexus extended the alloy warranty period as it is a known fault ???
  19. Bought car Nov 05 and had Lexus Notts replace all 4 alloys for corroding. I have noticed recently small areas of white'ish discolouration to front alloys, I wash car including wheels every weekend. Before I ring Lexus again just wondered if anyone knows the official Lexus policy on this ???
  20. Just wondered if anyone knows of a reputable Lexus independant near Sheffield / Chesterfield, who can do full spec service without me being ripped off at main dealer. It is due 3rd year service any ideas of costs gladly welcome.....
  21. The frequency generated by incorrect balance is as described by yourself... i suggest all four wheels are tested with the original weights on to establish how incorrect each wheel is... then have them corrected. I wrote a thread on this topic and the best method for correction some two years ago.... Eddieo if you can find the post it could help :winky: I think the title was 'wheel balance and why it goes wrong'...... think? I had the same problem about 6 months ago after I just bought the car and had all 4 wheels replaced (corroding). Went to Kwick Fit and asked them to check ballancing, they reballanced front wheels only. this made no differance so I insisted they checked rears, after reballancing these it was perfect.
  22. Not sure how to get gigar lighter out. I can get easily to fuse board so it would be easier to connect here but not sure which wire to go for. If I cant sus wiring out I will try to get to cigar lighter itself. Thanks.....
  23. I have a parking sensor kit (front and rear with display), and I need an accessory switched live feed. Thought of taking it from the cigar lighter feed at the fuse box but not sure which wire it is. Anyone got an idea... Thanks....
  24. Having read everyones advise I think I will keep the buzzer activated.. Thanks for your responses
