  1. I have tried to search through this forum for the Map updates for my RX200t 2017 in Australia but could not find it. I have even tried to find the Australia map update at https://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu and had also contacted the website about it but no one replied after a few days now. Also searched through eBay without any luck. Can some guru here please help to shed some light on the map updates in Australia for my Lexus with a good price? Thank you in advance for your help.
  2. I've driven more than ten Lexus of different model except the LS, they all have rattles, some very little or intermittent. Therefore I believe those who said their Lexus is rattle free is either they are lying, don't want to accept the truth, don't pay attention to rattle or don't listen hard enough for noise within their Lexus. To conclude, Lexus is best at almost everything including reliability, satefy, security, style, luxurious, ergonomics, services, value for money etc. But you must accept rattle if you want a Lexus.
  3. Where's the overdrive button located ? Having seen it in mine ...
  4. GS is indeed a lot nicer overall, good choice mate.
  5. The original one i got was the Autodata, but that is a waste of time so i waited and then paid a lot of money for the one i have now Awesome Shows everything Where to purchase the one you've got, any more info ? Thanks
  6. I think the noise sounds like those noise in all old Toyota in the late 70's or early 80's. The noise is extremely loud at low speed on smooth road. Mine has got that noise since brand new a year ago. It's bloody annoying. The dealer could not fix it and one of the Lexus Representatives told me that it's tyre noise after driving with him for more than an hour.
  7. IS300 might cost more than IS200 in service and maintainance in the long run but IS300 is sure better handling probably due to better suspensions and hence more luxury feel.
  8. Everything can be repaired including windscreen. In order to keep everything original the best way is to use chip away and glass polisher. I've got some scratch and chip on my windscreen couple months ago. I did not use the repairer but replaced it instead because it's free from insurance. The car ended up in a professional workshop for a week to fix up the mess. The replacement of the windscreen was carried out badly. They peel off the paint a few spot around windscreen frame. There was a big gap on the top and one corner of the windscreen was a bit out that you can observe it from inside the car. The passenger’s door step metal plate was badly scratched, whirl with bending mark, he must have had put all his body weight on it to pull the windscreen during the replacement. And both front seats and floors were dirty like **** with a bit of oil. I know this does not really concern some people as they think car is just for transportation purpose. I don’t know how fussy you are but I just could not tolerate with it. That guy was from a company that also replace windscreen for Lexus dealerships. Sometime it’s not just that we are being paranoid, it just could happen in real life. Therefore if you really care for your car and would like to avoid all the hassle and distress, you better ask whether he’s got experience in replacing windscreen for this car. Stand watching him doing it if you can.
  9. @Eunos800, I presume that you've owned Eunos 800 before, so how does it compare with Lexus :D
  10. Why not check with the neighbours whether anyone's using the CD Radio or similar devices.
  11. The best quality is to use the AUX Adaptor as shown HERE
  12. The first one is the culprit. Most cassette players will stop or auto reverse when one of the cogs stop spinning.
  13. It's a nice feature to have as for security reason. Isn't it that the box under the armrest a coin box ? I use that one and the ash tray for coin storage. It would be nice to have it as a feature that you can manually enable or disable it for some safety reason. Prolong folding of the mirror would cause the mechanism to wear and break down easier. The handbrake on the passenger's side is perfect for me. I hate thing close to or touching my butt when sitting, really uncomfortable. It's an option that you can choose to put on. Mine one has got no alarm too but it will shut off once the driver's door is opened. I don't really trust the Auto-Light as well as most people here. The Auto light does not work as desired as I always have light on day & night for safety reason and concerned that the delay would break down too soon.
  14. The choice is very clear, either drive with fun by having heavy foot and enjoy the roaring sound of the VVTI cutting in, or save some money in the pocket with light footed driving. Here's the referrence that we all the IS200 can achieve for a full tank of petrol with light footed driving. Around city with heavy traffic --> 390 miles Around city with little traffic --> 440 miles City with some Motorway on medium traffic --> 480 miles Motorway with speed mainly between 40mph & 75mph -->580 miles To achieve maximum milage all windows must be closed for the speed of 45mph and over. The above calculation does not include Air-Con, so take away 2% - 5% for having Air-Con on.
  15. Most of the time I filled up the petrol with over 65 litres, and with 3 times at 69.1, 69.5 & 69.8 litres covering the longest distance of 562 miles. I have a spare 5 litres with me when going long journey but had never needed it so far. I would guess that the capacity of IS200 is somewhere between 71 - 73 litres if you fill it up to the lip. Besides, even if we run out of petrol, don't forget that we have petrol cover by Lexus road assistant whenever we ever need it. So you're not risking it if you're still under manufacturer warranty :D Of-course everyone drives differently and you need to know how much you can get out of a full tank for your driving style on the road condition you covered to estimate the future full tank coverage, then calculate with a tolerance of +-3%.
  16. This is mainly recording dependence. Same scenario if you wrap all titles of an album into an mp3 file, you would not be able to skip between tracks. I usually listen to music from Tony O'Connor, Kitaro & Medwyn Goodall. But most of the time from Tony as he's got the most gorgeous music on this planet. More info can be obtained at www.tonyoconnor.com.au
  17. If you just classify the car system by itself of-course there are low & high class between them. But it does not matter how good the car system is, it's still not comparable with a medium class home stereo system with you sitting in the middle of 6.1 or more channels. Why ? because we are too close to the speakers inside a car and we can never be sitting in the middle of the speakers of the car. Besides the cleanness and clearness of the audio and system, all proper system have a hot spot to create the best sound definition. All high definition audio require a certain distance from the speakers to create the environment and atmosphere. Hence the manufacturers would not waste time in adding the costly technology of SACD or HDCD in the car system but focus on how clean and clear the audio the car system can produce. No doubt that Mark Levinson is a superior system and it's very hard to compare from one brand to another to say which one is the best. But I would still prefer Nakamichi over any other brand, those who had came across this brand would know what I mean :D Audio CD is uncompressed means uncompressed in human terminology, NOT "as opposed to uncompressed", it's similar to Microsoft wave which is the best quality you can get from computer format. The content of Audio CD is digitally sampled audio with 16-bit resolution, ie. the best sound you can get with this format. Those DVDs Audio I've seen loaded like CDs but it can display the title. And those Audio DVD that I've created myself is similar to DVD movie format with 2 or 5.1 channels, it's got menu, titles and a picture for each album or individual title.
  18. Just to clear up something as some of you have missed interpret the importance of the technology DVD Audio and Audio DVD are two different thing. Audio DVD is same format as DVD movie and the quality is depended on the level of encoding compression used. DVD Audio is similar to Audio CD. Audio CD is digitally uncompressed and the quality is depended on the number of bits that is used to create it. The maximum bits for a CD is 16 but some companies even claim 20 or 24bits format CD like Denon Master technology. Some of you might have heard or even listened ot HDCD. HDCD sounds great comparing to normal CD but SA-CD (DSD technology) is even much better than HDCD quality as SA-CD can deliver 360 degrees surround sound. High Definition Compatible Digital, HDCD-encoded CDs sound better because they are encoded with 20 bits of real musical information as compared with 16 bits for all other CDs. HDCD overcomes the limitation of the 16-bit CD format by using a sophisticated system to encode the additional 4 bits onto the CD while remaining completely compatible with the CD format. HDCD is a patented process that delivers on CD the full richness and detail of the original microphone feed. When listening to HDCD recordings, you hear more dynamic range, a focused 3-D soundstage, and extremely natural vocal and musical timbre. You get the body, depth, and emotion of the original performance-not a flat, digital imitation. Direct Stream Digital (DSD) technology reproduces the original sound without any distortion. The DSD technology behind Super Audio CD enables the recording and reproduction of sound in a way that makes it indistinguishable from the original, which can be a master tape from a live or studio recording, or a tape with precious archive material. The DSD signal is delivered in up to 6 separate channels (5.1 sound). Multichannel SA-CD sound can faithfully reproduce the original performance space. In practice this means that the geographical layout of an orchestra can be replicated in your home, bringing you closer to the live performance. An example of this can be heard on Linn CKD 180 Poulenc Organ Concerto", which exploits the rear channels to place the organ in its geographically correct position behind the listener. Multichannel SA-CD can also create a 360° sound environment which seems to envelop you in the music. SA-CD is a Hybrid that contains two seperate layers. One layer contains the normal CD information and the other contains the high density SA-CD information (a Multichannel of Stereo mix). To conclude ... All normal CD players can play HDCD but the last 4 bits of the high definition information will be lost. Only some SACDs are Hybrid CDs which can be played on all CD players. Some SA-CDs can only be played on compatible SA-CD players. So far none of the car stereo system can deliver the high definition information encoded on the HDCD or SACD. This feature is not implemented in the car system because only 95% of the music is heard when the engine is started or the car is moving. The high definition information would also be lost with the inferior OEM amplifier and speakers.
  19. B)--> QUOTE(Carlos B @ Aug 8 2006, 05:16 PM) ← Oh yes. Car will be going back in, but there's one question. Do I take it back to the dealer who couldn't do the recall properly.....or do I take it somewhere 50 miles away ? There's no point in going back to the same incapable dealer, should try out a different dealer even if it's far away.
  20. You seem to have joined this forum more than a year before me, isn't it weird if my "member number" ranges 7620 while yours is 11813 :D
  21. It's built for quality and reliability with fun driving in mind. You should go for the GS series for the speed.
  22. Just wondering how could the member number of javadude be 1275 and Monster-Mat 1290 when Monster-Mat joined this forum before javadude
