  1. I really don't see that much of an issue here. As far as i can tell, if someone wants to state an opinion (that is not a personal attack), they can. That opinion will be read by some, even if it is closed down shortly after, thus allowing the persons who stated their opinion some form of satisfaction. The moderators are here to make sure the public forum is suitable to the public, humans may err, but it is for the generally good of the forum, so closing of topics seen as infringing the T&Cs ought be accepted. I may not agree with Scar Face closing some of the forums, but I understand why he did and therefore don't question it. i think it would be more helpful to PM saying that you do not agree, rather than making very pointed, childish, spurious and utterly rude comments. Viscious personal comments are certainly not welcome by me. The end. :D
  2. Sean, I've heard bad things about car matching services. They say that they have people wanting a car just like yours, charge you for 'matching' services and then you never hear from them again. Be careful. Apart from that, I hope the selling process goes ok.
  3. The lamentable problem wit the highway code is that it expects all drivers to adhere to it perfectly. Hence when it sets forth rules such as not needing to signal when returning to an inside lane, it does so expecting those people to LOOK before moving over. The truth of the matter is that many don't and therefore a signal is always helpful. Does anyone else get that instinctive feeling when you approach another driver (especially on the motorways), that you know they are about to do something potentially dangerous and stupid? My, I am having a rant about this.
  4. The problem with undertaking in this country at the moment is the amount of people who do not signal. Quite why these people get into their car and forget where the signal stalk is located is quite beyond me. As it is, it is dangerous to undertake in the middle lane when there is greater chance of the person in the outside lane moving over without signalling or looking! I have to say that this rant is generally aimed at old drivers who seem to have no more space in their shrinking craniums for the highway code. Rant over.
  5. Good morning, Shab - running costs as regards to fuel are quite high. The IS200 is a thirsty beast, gobbling around 30mpg combined driving. That said, you probably save that money in reliability terms. As Lexus break down less frequently and will not need as many replacement parts, you will probably save money in the long run. On another note, I would recommend looking for an IS200 with a bodykit if you can find one - they make the car look even better.
  6. Hello there, As someone who has just bought my first Lexus, an IS 200 SE (about a week ago), I can thoroughly recommend it. One word of advice, if you are on a tight budget watch out for the insurance price difference between the SE and Sport, ask an insurance broker to get you quotes for both. I did and there was about £150 difference, but then my accident history is less than impeccable! Generally the engines last a long time and Lexus has very good reliability. I think there was some concern over tyre corrosion on the early models so watch out for that. Good luck!
  7. As a new member myself - Welcome! I have just bought a Lexus IS 200, picked it up on Monday. Not much I can say regarding things to watch out for. If you're going through a dealer you should give them the exact specs you're looking for e.g. miles, year of manufacture, interior colour, exterior colour, body kits, sat nav etc. They are very good at finding what you're looking for, even if it's not local. My dealer said he was happy to get one down from Aberdeen for me to try and I'm in Surrey! Good luck!
  8. It all depends what mood you're in. There are far more summer driving songs than winter ones though! Scarface - A comprehensive Hip hop list, but how could you leave out LL Cool J 'Mama Said Knock You Out'!
  9. If you let me know where abouts you are, I could probably recommend a few. A good website for finding out about all kinds of law firms, including family specialists is at Legal500 dot com. Hope it helps.
  10. I picked up my newly acquired second hand Lexus IS200 SE from the dealership yesterday. The whole 'Lexus' experience was an extremely pleasant one. From the moment I first walked into the dealership (Guildford) I was treated like royalty. Bearing in mind I am only 24 and was after a second hand car, they treated me like I was buying a brand new car fully loaded. The dealership was very busy when I went so the Financial manager showed me the car and took me for an immediate test drive. On picking up the car yesterday they also threw in a bottle of champagne! That's was I call service. I can thoroughly recommend Guildford Lexus, go see Justin or Gary.
  11. For those that contributed to a post I put on here a few weeks ago - 'Lexus v Audi', I'd like to say cheers. There was really only ever going to be one winner. I picked up my IS 200 yesterday. It's gorgeous! I'll post some pics when I 'borrow' my girlfriend's digital camera. The dealership was outstanding and even threw in a bottle of champagne to help me celebrate!
  12. Thanks everyone! I just needed a little convincing. Crazylex makes a good point about it only being around £30 difference a month, which I reckon I can sacrifice. Everyone has made good points though. I think I'll phone the Lexus dealership after the bank holiday and have a more serious chat. Gord, please do not buy a beamer (especially a black one), if you do, you'll have to change your name to 'Leroy' and occupation to 'gangster'. :D
  13. Cheers Peter. Problem is, I've taken a test drive in each and although I loved the Lexus, I can't seem to ignore the nagging voice in my head that waffles on about the performance and fuel economy of the Audi. Difficult!
  14. Please no violent reactions! I am buying a new car very soon and my two final choices are the Lexus IS 200 or the Audi A3. The Lexus is great, I think it's superbly styled inside and out and drives well. I also know the service will be outstanding from what has so far been a very impressive dealership. BUT... I also know running costs are high and the engine in the IS200 can't match the performance of the A3 2.0 TDI. I can not go for the IS 300 because of insurance costs - I'm only 23! The boot may also be a problem without folding rear seats. Faults of the Audi would be...dull interior, expensive and not sure about the quality of after sales-service. HELP ! jonny
