  1. Already done, i dont really think 'M3' style mirrors would look very good on the car I will try the other number.
  2. Numpty feature here had an argument with his garage this weekend and there was no surprise who the winner was . The injury gained to the car was the obliteration of its nearside wing mirror . Does anyone have one / know of where i can get one or 'GULP' how much lexus charge for a new one. Just for your info the mechanics all still work i.e the folding and its silver. Cheers for your help in advance. Dan
  3. Hello :D I have had my Is200 for nearly 4 months now and love ever minute of it. I to came from the world of FWD cars mainly all with the red 'H' situated on it somewhere and an 'R' attached nearby The IS200 for such a heavy car handles very well ideed and going down the Autobahrn last month on the way to Paris 'the long way round ' i have found it handles well at what ever speed and sits there so well that it would embaress some bigger prestige cars 'cough' BMW :P Re wet and rear wheel drive. Trust me you have to change your style of driving as you have to in snow The traction control is aid and will usually catch any incidents before they happen however i think the general feeling on this board is that the IS200 can sometimes be tricky in hard cornering in the wet. You probably are still in the world of FWD cars as well i.e. push hard into a corner and understeer comes first followed by a little oversteer. This still happens in the IS200 (most of the time) in the dry but in the wet i have found there to be no or very little understeer followed by the oversteer. HTH a little :duh:
  4. bloody hell where do you live to have petrol that price at the moment *** this country is getting soooo expensive to live in
  5. Hope this helps a little. Something i posted up last month re their help with a little problem i had:..................... Wasnt very amused the other day when my car grounded its front bumper on the new speed humps that they have installed in my road (speed humps, more like mountains ) Stopped the car and looked at the damage. the speed hump had managed to rip and break the main bolt holding the front near side in place, hmmmmm not happy. Phoned the building company who were very apologetic and stated they would pay for any damage but just needed a quote, so off i went to my nearest lexus dealership, Reading. Please remembr that this is my first lexus and therefore my first lexus dealership experience after coming over from Honda. In I walked and hear the experience began........ 1. Cup of tea and coffee offered in a proper cup sat down on proper leather sofas with magazines and papers + a wide screen TV 2. Manager inspected the car and stated he would need to put it on the ramp 3. 20 minutes later, bumper fixed (ish) (temp solution before new one) 4. When i asked how much ...... no charge!!!! Ive heard about the 'Lexus experience' and now i understand why Lexus get number 2 in the top gear survey. I walked out a very happy man so at the moment i shall give the Reading dealership 10/10
  6. Ive just come across from Type R Hondas owning the Civic, Accord and an import DC5 all amazing cars but for sheer luxury, ease of use and problem free driving the lexus beats them all hands down, i dont even miss the performance, although the IS200 is nippy and handles amazingly well for a heavy saloon and as for the rear wheel drive it can be a real hoot in the right conditions. The only negative i can think of is the thirst, £50 of petrol circa 320 miles (ish) my 300bhp DC5 used to take £40 and i could see 300 miles out of a tank and that was a 2l with a turbo I havent looked back and am planning on purchasing the IS250 or IS220 in the next couple of years
  7. cheers for the replies appreciated. I have found this on Ebay would these fit????? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 if not i will probably go with one of the ideas mentioned above :)
  8. cheers for the relpy guys appreciated :) Has anyone got an IS200 fitted with a roof rack designed for bikes opps sorry didnt see that link thanks for the replies :D
  9. cheers for the relpy guys appreciated :) Has anyone got an IS200 fitted with a roof rack designed for bikes
  10. Right im not an old man i just like my mountain biking and am fed up having two bikes dangling off the boot and freaking out ever time i hear a bang on the boot and looking into my rear view mirror to see if the bikes are bouncing down the motorway Sooooo the question is this...... can the IS200 have a roof rack and if so has anyone on this forum have one that can carry bikes on??? answers greatfully recieved :D
  11. I know i should have probably asked this question before purchasing mine but....... whats the BHP figures and torque figures for; IS200 navigator IS200 Sport IS300 Thanks
  12. Just my 2p worth. I have now owned my IS200 for just over a month and have done 1600 miles since pick up :o My previous cars have been all of the Type R range going from the Honda Civic R, Accord R and Integra DC5 , all awesome but i will never return to that brand (apart from an NSX ) The IS200 is everything that i could have wanted in a car. Very comfortable, fantastic handling, awesome brakes, as many gadgets as you can throw a stick at, a stereo that can make alot of concert halls envious and an engine so quiet, as someone has said before its very easy to do speeds that can loose a licence Just out of interest i ran the car to the orange light, filled up with £10 worth of fuel and drove it to the light again. i got 70 miles which was A road driving and then stop start in rush hour traffic through Reading. I was very impressed. With the Auto box acceleration isnt huge but after the 4k range it certainly pulls and to keep it there just knock the box so that it can only select two gears, this with the handling makes it a great point to point car. As you probably can tell im certainly not disappointed with my purchase. In fact once I have finished with this one in a couple of years time the IS250 looks very very promising
  13. Bret ive seen these about, but havent been to sure?? not sure on the rear projection LCD?? never heard of this before so am a bit weary...the price and size of tv seems too good?? what are your thoughts of the set and how long you had it?? The problem with projection TV's so im led to believe is that they can 'burn' the screen if left on i.e. with a PS2 etc and also the picture degrades with time, i could be wrong though...... :shutit:
  14. in additon to my previous post: try www.richersounds.com they are a wholeseller not reseller and therefore will match prices / and do deals. I got my original 26" from there. For £650 i got a 26" Sharp Aquos LCD, wall mount bracket and 5 year warrenty. Debenhams wanted to charge me £1400 for a 5yr warranty for my Panasonic :o :o :o
  15. likewise, combined equates to approx 350 miles. Ive moticed on motorway driving it will sit at around 35mpg mark hit the town and its low 20's. The problem is that V6, above 4k it sounds so gorgeous
  16. hope i can help a little as ive just bought a 37" Panasonic Plasma that is awesome and i had all the questions that youve just asked. I orginally wanted a LCD, as in the bedroom at the moment i have a 26" Sharp LCD that over the last year has been awesome. Sharp are supposed to be the leaders in LCD technology as they sold off there other technology to speacialise in this area. Due to it going into the lounge i required a TV with a larger screen and decided on a 37" and after looking around i found a superb LCD LG one. As previously mentioned LG do awesome TV's and what most people dont know is the likes of SONY rebadge them and call them there own In the end i purchased a 37" Panasonic Plasma not LCD this was due to the picture refresh rate. The general rule of thumb, so ive been told is that anything above a 32" should be plasma. I was shown a comparison between a 37" LCD and 37" plasma with a football game being played and when the ball was kicked with LCD it was blurred however the Plasma was crystal clear. The difference between LCD and Plasma is life longativity with the LCD lasting longer. However to 'extinguish' the life of a plasma you have to watch it for 8 hours a day, every day for 5 years Who is ever going to do that? The colours on the plasma are also frankly amazing compared to my LCD. Regarding the HD issue' HD stands for 'High Definition' which is where TV is supposed to be going in the next 2-3 years wih SKY bringing out its box sometime this year with limited programes available to view. Mine has a high defination screen however it isnt 'technically' HD ready i have to plug an adapter into it such as a sky box or the Xbox360 and upon doing this anything played through them comes out onto the TV in high defination and trust me its awesome mine has a full digital box installed within the TV and with the digital era fast approaching i felt that this was more of must than it being HD ready + they wanted an extra £600 for the equivlant TV that was HD ready. I personally dont think HD will fully come in for at least another 5 years. Digital was supposed to have arrived 3 years ago and we are still waiting for the transition. The reason why i bought Panasonic was purley for the deal i got as i had a £400 stand thrown in for free. Yes the TV was expensive but after watching Wind Talkers on it it was mind blowing! And the Xbox 360 looks as if you are actually in the game! I hope this helps a little Dan
  17. :o *** that was a close call, glad you are all ok and the car must have been brand spanking new as well being an IS250 Just a quick question, whats the NCAP rating of the IS200?
  18. arent they 'Khan' wheels? Usually modded onto the suped up 4x4's that look like pimp machines :P
  19. How much thats very expensive hence the reason why i never used main stream tyre fitters anymore. Got a fantastic establishment called Headley Tyres in Kingsclere that do very good prices on tyres near me.
  20. When i had my DC5 integra Falkans used to get slated for poor performance and the rubber used to degrade very quickly. I have used Bridgestone Potenzas on both the Integra and IS200 and found them to be excellent all rounders, especially in wet/slippery conitions whcih the UK seems to be liking at the moment. The price is also respectable approx £82 fitted etc for 17" Dan
  21. i sat through it with my girlfriend for hours and i sooooo needed the toilet, held on then had to go and when i re-entered the cinema again the credits were rolling it was strange, very strange
  22. maybe i can help a little. I have owned FWD drive cars all my life, mostly Hondas being the CTR, Honda Accord type R and finally the piece de resitance my DC5 which had 300bhp going through the front wheels with only LSD to keep it in a (semi) stright line! neither the CTR or ATR had slip dif. FWD drive is great, however, the problem being its pulling the car and trying to turn the car through the same wheels. The problem here is that they can suffer from horrendus understeer, wheel spin and wheel lift which while fun in dry conditions can be flipping scary in the wet/snow. My DC5 had to be driven totally different in wet/greasy conditions. It was once said that the maximum amount of power that should be put out through the front wheels was approx 220bhp. Rear wheel drive i have experienced in my fathers range of BMWS. The differnce here is that the car is being pushed by the rears and steered through the front, therefore theoretically it becomes more of a stable platform to drive on. The disadvantage though can be weight transfer. IF through mid corner a foot is let off the accelerator the car can oversteer which for the novice is damn right scary but for the more experienced is a hoot :winky: The advantge of RWD is also displayed in wet and snoew conditions as well because its pushing the car not pulling and therefore traction is alot more stable and readily avliable becuase of the weight of the engine at the front . Also theoretically there is no limitation of power that can be put through RWD. So as you cane see there are pros and cons in both, the pureists amongst us though swear on RWD. HTH
  23. wow this is a friendly forum B) Some answers to the questions: 1. Price paid for it ....................... £11500 and its mint, the last owner has just bought a brand spanking new one for cash, i think i got a little bit of a deal 2. address of the DC5 forum www.itr-dc5.com. What happened when you were 'raped for information 3. DC5's dont all come in red interior, mine was artic blue with blue interior/recaros, Championship white usually comes with red and silver/black comes with black interior. Beautiful cares but very difficult to look after and insurance is a group 20
