  1. Thanks for the advice. I will let you know how I get on. I work with someone, who knows someone, who used to work at Lexus as a machanic (do I sound desperate?) I'm hoping they can sort it out for me. If not I will pluck up some courage and pick up the screwdriver. Let hope the next reply will be '.....It fixed!'
  2. Hi Flavio, Thank you for the response. I will probably take it out and then take it to an audio expert of some sort as I don't want to mess anything else up in the process. I brought this model mainly for the Multi Media system. Emailed Lexus to see if I can get any help as a ‘gesture of good will’. They said they would consider 20-25% off the cost to fix it if I take it to a Lexus dealer to first diagnose the exact issue (didn't specify who would pay for the cost of the diagnosis) and then only if I had purchased it from a Lexus dealer - No good to me then. They did offer me a technical support line number at a cost of £1.50 per minute09066610061. They probably thought we spend lots in fuel so why not charge a premium rate to call. I will keep using the plug in jack for music for the time being, pity I can't get visual. Thanks for your advice. I will let you know if I have any sucess when I get around to it.
  3. Not that I know 1st hand, however the information from the forums suggests that you can either disconnect the battery or ECU fuse, although I would get the fault code read to start with. Ebay have fault code readers on for a decent price. Again according to the forums 90% of fault codes seem to be emissions related or those caused by a low battery or engine miss-firing. Good luck & welcome to the forum & Lexus
  4. Google I think... back in 2006 or earlier. Great site
  5. I'm still searching for the answer. Found out how to remove the headunit on youtube (Removal and Installation of Lexus IS250, IS350 Radio, Navigation, Display, Year 2006,2007,2008 - Uploaded by HiTechElectronic on 7 Jul 2011)I thought this might help me to check and remove any CD's/DVD's if stuck - Not quite what I am looking for. Anyone know what I can do apart from spend money I haven't got?
  6. Found this reply to a same issue for the older model IS200 - '..if you remove the headunit from the car, split the two parts (heater controls/stereo) remove the top plate of the stereo (2 or 4 screws) and you will see the cd mech, here you may find some stuck cd's, look down the sides to the bottom and you will see cogs and worm screws, wind the cd mech so you can slid the cd's out of the unit, if you dont have and jammed cd's wind the mech all the way to the bottom then re-fit back in the car and see how you get on.' I trust there is something simliar for the IS250...help anyone
  7. Thanks for responding and not a dumb response. Yes have tried that. The screen indicates that there are no CD's/DVD's 'Empty'. I have just spoken to Lexus over the phone who have advised it is normally caused when the wrong size CD's entered which then get stuck. Onces these CD's are out it will normally start to function correctly. Estimated cost for fixing was over £1000. Any idea's?
  8. Just brought an IS250 after having had an IS200 for a number of years, Love it. However cannot load CD's or DVD's. Instructions states to press 'LOAD' and wait for flashing lights, same as my previous car. Cannot see any lights flashing when I press 'Load' nor does it allow me to input a CD/ DVD. Help. Am I doing something wrong? Tried it whilst the car engine was off, still no joy.
  9. so you can't see paradise by the dashboard light anymore eh :D if its intermittent could be a loose connection. The speedo clusters are plug and play aren't they if a plug is slightly out and all the contacts are on that side that would explain it. I bet someone round here can tell you if they are as well ;) Thanks, It's an IS200 Nothing added since I brought it (not from new) & my warrenty has expired almost as quick as my petrol does. I'll get someone to look at the speedo plugs. :D If anyone knows anymore then plz let me know. Thanks
  10. Hello all, I've had my Lexus for about 3 years now, so it's a little runned down now. The lights on my dash (Looks like - 1)Back fog lights 2)Oil Light & 3) Hand brake light) have an intermittent fault. They some times stay on all the time, when they do the speedo stops working. Any idea's of a fix or what is causing the problem. Plz help. :duh:
