  1. I think he meant which part of Birmingham are you living not your native country. :D
  2. Make sure they fit a genuine replacement and don't either weld up the faulty one or fit a solid flywheel, easy way to make sure is ask to see the old one when you collect the car. Technically I think the clutch should also be replaced again at the same time as the new clutch will now be bedded into the faulty flywheel, the same as always fitting new pads and discs together. Looks like someones going to be spluttering at the cost.
  3. Hello and welcome to the LOC. The LS looks very nice, have you a larger picture? The wheels look something special what are they?
  4. You seem to have posted this same question in 3 different forums, keeping it to a single forum may help you get more help and replies. You will need money whichever way you go I'm afraid. Things to check are ignition coil trigger pulses, injector pulses, fuel pressure, injector spray patterns, crankshaft sensor pulses and cam sensor pulses. There are companies which will supply a known working test ECU to loan in order to eliminate a faulty one which is cheaper than buying one to find it is not the problem.
  5. WD40 soak them overnight then gently work them back and forward. What are you using to loosen and tighten nuts and bolts a 6 foot strong bar! :D
  6. Welcome to the LOC and Lexus ownership. I bought mine when it was 12 years old with just 38,000 on it. It is now 18 years old with 79,000 miles on, the longest time I have ever kept a car. Even when it got accident damaged I couldn't find another in the same (pre accident) condition and although the insurers wrote it off I spend the money having it repaired. The mileage is nothing when you have a FLSH the problems you do have are common and fairly minor known faults but most parts are cheap enough secondhand apart from the Y section.
  7. Hello and welcome to the LOC. How do you know the problem is fuel starvation? If you are not familiar with fuel injection systems or car mechanics in general it may be a better and perhaps safer option to have a qualified mechanic look at the problem.
  8. Hello and welcome to the LOC. There is nothing over complicated with the LS400 braking system so any local independent garage will be able to replace the discs and pads and at the age the car is I wouldn't worry about not using Lexus for repairs. There are decent aftermarket parts around for example Mintex,Bembo at prices considerably cheaper than Toyota but I would avoid cheap unbranded types.
  9. Sure sounds like a defective Dual Mass Flywheel, should have been checked when the clutch job was done.
  10. I think the charge light is fed off a wire from the alternator so it could as you suggest be a fault in the wiring. Sometimes disconnecting the plugs and sockets, cleaning, spraying with contact cleaner and pushing back together can sort this type of problem. Have a look at the diagram on the link below it shows the standard alternator output terminals including the charge warning light. http://www.familycar.com/Classroom/charging.htm
  11. Not good then. My wheels are fine, there are no corrosion issues but there again they are Mitsubishi wheels which obviously are better made and more corrosion resistant than the ones produced for Lexus. "In Pursuit of Perfection" Well almost but not including alloy wheels it seems.
  12. Hello and welcome to the LOC. If you remove the light the part number should be stamped on the moulding.
  13. Running 17" Misubishi Evo 9 wheels on mine, no clearance problems on the series II LS and given the gap between rim and caliper should fit series III and IV. They don't fill the arches though.
  14. It does seem low mileage for disc wear out, my brake pads last for that long nevermind the discs. When lexus say 80% worn ask what the figures actually are i.e. new disc thickness is ?? and the discs present thickness is ??. As I asked before can you actually see any wear on the discs usually indicated by a raised ridge on the outer portion where the pads do not contact? You could also get a second opinion, some fast fit centres offer a free brake check which normally includes checking the disc thickness although I wouldn't use them for the actual work.
  15. Hello and welcome to the LOC. There are a lot of variables to be taken into account. Are we talking front or rears here? Driving style and conditions determines the wear rate of discs, if there is a lot of heavy braking involved they wear faster, every time it rains and the discs get a layer of rust on them thats life used. Lexus will check you discs by the book, this will involve measuring the thickness of the discs and if this falls below the minimum recommended figure they will recommend replacement. Can you visibly see any wear lip on the edge of the disc? I would also ask the dealer the reason they recommend replacement. There are also good after market discs and pads available so they don't have to be Toyota/Lexus branded, you also don't have to have them fitted by Lexus any decent independent garage should be able to do the job. As an extreme example my 18 year old LS400 has done 78,000 mile from new and it is still on the original discs with no sign of wear but there again it doesn't go very far or very fast so the discs last longer.
  16. Hello and welcome to the LOC. Your 1st car and it's a 2005 GS300, very nice choice. As far as I am aware the interior lighting cannot be adjusted, it's either on or off, why do you want to vary the brightness are you running a mobile disco in there! :D
  17. Contact AClex on the forum, he is the resident dealer on LOC and usually does a good price and will post the parts out to you.I've used him before and can recommend the service. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showforum=150
  18. Hello and welcome to the LOC. I doubt there will be a seperate fuse just for the seat memory. Have you tried going through the set proceedure again in case it is just a reset problem. Not sure what the exact proceedure is but it is normally adjust the seat as required then press and hold in the memory 1 or 2 button until you hear the beep. It will be in your handbook,
  19. Hello and welcome to he LOC. I test drove the CT200 at one of the Open Road Events last year, it was a bit unnerving pulling out of junctions with no engine noise at first.
  20. I had my accident damage shown below after and before, repaired by a local old school bodyshop. They reshaped the edge of the wing and bonnet, repaired the cracked bumper, resprayed as required including a complete bonnet respray, perfect colour match and panel alignment, also had a rear bumper scuff done at the same time for £650.00. Yours should be a lot less of course just find a good bodyshop and expect to pay 150-200. I think I had the camera setting wrong for the after shot the colour is the same believe me!
  21. Putting "OBDII solar charger" into google produced loads of results, unforntunately the cheapest supplier is out of stock but the one below is a suggestion http://www.amazon.co.uk/ICP-06002IC10-Solar-Trickle-Charger/dp/B003IVD77Q
  22. I did a search and found this http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/overseas/countrybycountry.html
  23. Not sure if this applies specifically to the LS430 but there have been cases on other vehicles where water is getting into the pollen filter due to the drains around the scuttle panel becoming blocked. The built up water then runs down into the external air intake vents which connect to the pollen filter. This then fills up with water and drains out into the passenger footwell. Lift the bonnet and check for leaves around the intakes, there are also normally drain holes in the plastic moulding around the windscreen wiper spindles which if blocked will cause a water build up.
