  1. Spotted this on Fleabay! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Mercedes-Benz-190-E-2-5-16-Evolution-II-/160446880633?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item255b611b79#ht_4294wt_930
  2. Yeah, we tried all that stuff. I speculated that the box or selector had moved, because the position of the lever did not correspond to the light on the dashboard. However, as above, whilst attempting to move the selector to a position which would allow me to start & move the car, I managed to get it to engage park & thus turn the ignition off & remove the key. Steve - I will try to get some pics this weekend, it's a bit crazy 'round here at the moment what with one thing & another, so no promises... So far, the parts bill looks to be about £200, assuming it's all panels & lights. We have a portapower to straighten any substantial parts, hopefully, there's no suspension damage. No worries if you cant document the job. I thought it could be useful in the future for other similarly unfortunates. I wondered why the gearbox had appeared to move. If you can let us know then it will be a mega effort. Hope it goes well and the baby is back cruising soon. I'll do me best... unfortunately, it coincided with me having my office demolished & replaced with a portacabin, so currently the entire office is in the garage, blocking access to the ramps... a situation that's unlikely to change before the weekend... but once cleared, we'll be putting the car up on a ramp, so photos won't be a problem. The impact speed was less than 30mph, as the airbags didn't go off (which is slightly alarming in its own right)... Q: Does the Mk3 have seatbelt pre-tensioners which would need replacing? Yes pre tensioners are fitted but with intact air bags I wouldn't have thought they have activated, to test them start the car with the seatbelt fitted across you as normal then pull it a little tighter,as you switch off the ignition you should feel the seatbelt tension alter slightly if it does the pre tensioner is OK. Plus I would expect some dash warning if they were defective.
  3. Described as in very good condition "as you can see from the pictures" (well it's certainly shiny)this Ebay.Au offering has something missing meaning some one will be very disappointed when they drop it in and turn the key. But what is it??? No prizes but see how observant you are. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/JDM-Toyota-UCF21-Celsior-1UZFE-1UZ-V8-Engine-Motor-/380239435623?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5888095767#ht_3464wt_1081
  4. You let your passengers smoke in the back of your LS? Did it stop working when you were using the tyre inflator or since using it?
  5. Try these guys for the parts you need I seem to remember the coils were around £30.00 plus the dizzy caps and rotor arms were cheap and OEM quality. http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/?autospares
  6. Apart from taking the one off my car and driving down overnight to Kent you would be very fortunate to get the part before the weekend, even Lexus I would think will need to order one in. We do our best on this forum to help other members and we have suggested some options but miracles take a little longer. Has this part suddenly failed making the car undrivable or is it something that was on its way out and has now totally failed?
  7. Petrol is so expensive now I am thinking of converting my lawn mower to LPG
  8. No offence taken I may have initially over reacted it's just that they wanted so much info to cancel the policy and it took so long( I understand that they need to make sure of the facts when motor insurance is a legal requirement.)Obviously M-in-Law is still very upset and this made her worse. I have sent them a letter and am now awaiting a reply. The old excuse of "it was a computer error" has never washed with me,computers require programming, programming requires input of data, humans input the data. Rant over I am now going out in the Lexus :D
  9. Yes when the weather gets warmer they tend to light up quicker. When I get another call out I will contact you, the last time I was near Crief and the time before that on Mull, sent the other guy to Barra!
  10. It looks like it but appears to have been updated to the 300 model. I googled it and found loads of info. http://www.raysmith.co.uk/dension-gateway-100-full-ipod-control-cars-original-radio-dension.html
  11. I'd have one if they were just a pound, maybe two at that price

  13. Have the AC checked by a professional outfit ( they all need to be registered now) not a fast fit place, apparently even Lexus are doing some deals at the moment so may be worth giving them a call. Engine oil is recommended at 5w-30 semi or fully synthetic, use a genuine filter.(I use Texaco Havoline fully syn at £16.95 from Morrisons) Transmission fluid is Toyota Type IV only.(dealer only at around £45.00/5 ltrs) Diff oil is Hypoid gear oil SAE90. These are based on the 1994 model handbook ( have a look on ebay for one for yours) Finally a good resource is www.lexls.com have a look at the tutorials section. Oh nearly forgot welcome to the LOC :D
  14. I have an ipod nano but not an LS460 to connect it to Would anyone like to give me theirs?
  15. Hi, I do not know anyone in your area that can carry out this repair but there is a member on the forum,Chris Vince who would repair the dash for you but it would mean removing it and posting it to him (normally next day return) If you are electronically savvy you can even do the repair yourself. If you want to take either option PM me and I will provide the removal links, repair links and even the required parts to do it. Other than that I work for SSE and am occasionally up in Scotland but when I couldn't say but if you are prepared to wait I could repair it for you.
  16. I have noticed over the last week that fuel prices have dropped a little and my local Morissons are now selling unleaded for around £1.15/Litre. Why is it then that BP are still at around £1.20/litre? Ah just realised the oil leak in the Gulf I guess some one is going to have to pay for the damage and the drop in BP's share price and profits :winky:
  17. When my Father-in-Law sadly passed away in February this year he had just renewed his car insurance with More Than. It took over 12 weeks of correspondence due to multiple ***** ups on their part to recover a refund of the premiums paid after sending off a copy of the Death Certificate and then a copy of the Will naming the Trustees. Today my Mother-in-Law obviously still grieving as we all are received a letter from More Than addressed to my Father-in-Law which contained a "Customer Service Complaints Handling Survey" Talk about complete insensitivity, surely a Death Certificate is enough evidence that a policy holder is deceased and is not in a position to complete and return a survey. So be advised if you have a Motor or other Insurance Policy with this company be prepared for substandard service,if you have to make a claim I feel for you. I am disgusted to the point of not only writing a strongly worded reply to More Than but also I am considering contacting the insurance regulator and if necessary my M.P.
  18. That's interesting as mine does this knocking as well only when there is lock on the steering either direction and the brakes are also applied, I always thought it was brake calliper movement as if you take your foot off the brakes the noise doesn't occur. The brakes are serviced every 6000 miles and I have never found a problem with the callipers apart from a sliding pin seized once which was replaced It's done this for over 3 years but has never failed an MOT or received even an advisory. I would like to find the actual cause so will check the upper arm retaining nut as suggested.
  19. You need to use American terminology in the search criteria. http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=lexus+clear+side+marker+lights&_sacat=0&_dmpt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&_odkw=clear+side+turn+lights&_osacat=0&bkBtn=&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313
  20. Can't help with the technicalities but I could do with a gear knob thats in good condition. Mine, being a MKIII is plain with no buttons. Be greatful if you have one. Did you not see the results of mine when I used leather dye? www.lextreme.com is a good site for mods.
  21. You would have to push the break light to the left and then carefully pull it up. I did mine last week actually. Kneel on the back seat, looking out of the rear window. I had to give it a thump with my hand towards the left (drivers side) It'll move about 1cm then it just lifts off. Don't be too brutal as you may break the clips, but it does need a bit of force. As for the bulb, well one was £2.50 with £2.00 shipping, and I could buy 10 for £12, free shipping. So I bought 10. So I have 9 left. Where are you and I'll happily pop one in the post for you free. (Inless you're anywhere along the M1 from J14 though to J42 as I travel that stretch regulary) Hi. Anyone know if this fix applies to the LS400 as well? No it's different but the link below shows how to http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/lighting/upperstoplight.html
