  1. Ian what lead would you need to connect the pre-outs to original amp? Is it a standard lead? Using the factory amp sounds like a better option than leaving it dormant!!
  2. The gear knob on my is200 has been scuffed by a previous owner and looks a bit shabby so i was looking to replace it with an aftermarket one. Every one i saw that i liked seemed to be only for manual transmission and as my car is an auto i emailed the supplier to see if it would fit my car. They replied by saying the gear knob wouldn't fit and also that they wouldn't reccommend changing it because "there are just too many critical components under an auto gear knob". I screwed my gear knob off and found nothing that seemed too critical there! Can anyone advise me whether this is true and what options i have in replacing the gear knob. Thanks, Bryan
  3. I got the sarcism, just made me remember the article. Thought it was kinda funny when i was reading it! :)
  4. Looks like its a SLK for me although my dream car has always been a dodge viper. I can't believe i've been so wrong all these years!! :D
  5. I read an article recently about these in j tuner magazine. They were doing tests to see if the claims were true on one for an mr2. It was called the e-ram. The results were as follows: Test 1: 30-70 MPH Standard - 11.245 sec E-Ram - 11.346sec E-ram (but deactivated) - 11.411 sec Test 2: Dyno Standard - 162.8 bhp E-Ram - 159.8 bhp E-ram (but deactivated) - 160.9 bhp Verdict: Pile of crap that actually reduced maximum power
  6. Well i suppose its better getting it done right the first time rather than finding problems later on. Should be a good job though!
  7. Thanks for the reply! Hope the installs going well this weekend. I hadn't really been thinking about a big subwoofer in the back just yet, although i'm quite tempted. :winky: I'm looking a setup that will initially give good sound quality from the kenwood ddx 6029 headunit, and then expand more when my wallet will allow it! I think a large woofer will be fitted at some stage though!!
  8. I remember reading that thread and thinking that would be class, but i think a small nuclear power plant would need to be installed to run it :D Just had a look at the spec of that beast, it has an rms of 1000W. max power 2000W!!! :o
  9. Hi all, I'm planning on getting a new sound system for my is200 se and not being particularily clued up on amps and speakers was wondering what kind of amp i need to drive the new speaker system. I've been looking at purchasing the rockford fosgate P8004 amplifier. It is a 4 channel amp. Is this the right kind of amp to run front components and rear 6x9s? Also does anyone know if this is a descent amp, as i'm not particularily worried about having ear splitting volume as i am about sound quality (although it would be nice sometimes :winky: ) Thanks Bryan
  10. This isn't the way i was taught to park but i guess it works just the same. Link
  11. I live near lisburn. Too busy to head down today though I just looked it up on the net and it looks like a cracker day out. You'll have to post some pics!! Where abouts are you from?
  12. Thanks for the heads up, i was just about to order another orange sim card anyway. Thats an extra pound that i can put towards a supercharger!! :D
  13. where abouts is it? I'd love to go but i'm pretty busy this weekend! <_<
  14. It'd be good to see the outtakes, they'd prob be just as good!! :D
  15. Hey guys, I was thinking of changing my standard is200 headunit to that of a kenwood ddx 6029. Having read different threads from people who have changed previously, i now realise that a new amp and set of speakers are required since i have the se model. I was just wondering what you guys changed your speakers and amps to. I tend to be quite fussy when it comes to sound quality, which doesn't help my wallet much. Thanks, Bryan
  16. I thought the french did a lot more rolling about last night than the italians. Materazzi must've said something really bad to get that reaction from zidane. Kinda feel sorry for him.
  17. I just meant nipping over the border from the north to buy petrol. :)
  18. When you connect your ipod again it should ask you whether you want auto update to be turned on or not. You should then just select no. I use a program called 'ipod agent' to copy songs from my ipod to my computer. Simple program but does the job. Should be able to google it!!
  19. Yep adie sorted me out and she's looking great again. Its just one of those small things that can really annoy you. Thanks again adie.
