  1. Hi Everyone, I also have the same problem here in Sydney, Australia since Sunday (5 Nov), where the car doesn't recognise the keyfob in my car spot in the carpark, but it works fine in other spots, especially weird as it had worked perfectly fine for 6 months prior in the same spot. It is driving me crazy, we even did a door knock around to see if any neighbors bought any new RF equipment (radios, wi-fi etc) (no unfortunately), which doesn't help to track it down. I don't understand what could be causing such strong interference that when you place the key fob right next to the door handle, that the car still cannot always 'sense' it. Also I dont think it is due to low battery on the key fob as both keys have the same problem. I have read in the manual that the car indicator screen will advise when the keyfob has a low battery. I look with keen interest with you sharing a potential solution to this problem, and wonder if it is a Lexus fault or just a fact of life we need to put up with. If this continues I would think it is up to Lexus to come up with a solution, as ultimately it is one of their features used to sell the car and it isnt a feature if it doesn't work. thanks in advance Bob
  2. Hi guys, Geoff 6263 What was the outcome of the new transponder system? I have the same problem with the keyless entry refusing to work from Sunday, whereas it has worked fine for 6 months before that in exactly the same spot. There seems to be another thread on this issue, but all the comments seem to say that it is an interference issue and nothing can be done. thanks Bob
  3. Hi, We took delivery of the IS 250 Prestige Black/Black on Sat morning, and after a weekend of driving, I am very happy with my choice. The car's features are very handy and the drive is rewarding, the big rear vision mirrors very good, eliminating the blind spots and you can change lanes with confidence (all cars should have them...so they dont crash into you...). But there are always a couple of things, (and I ask the question) - Why is there automatic door locking on the US models (such as the door locks automatically when the car accelerates off, ( i read this in their manual), but no such option for the Aust spec car...surely it must be the same software??) Does anyone have any special niggily bits? Overall very very happy. Bob
  4. The tinting would be dealer fitted, (not factory). Did anyone consider the extended warranty, I think it is an extra 3 years for about $1800. Not sure if it gets transferred if the car is sold.
  5. Hi guys, i havent seen much action on this forum for a few weeks. Thankyou for your help, I am a proud owner of a black/black prestige (with window tint) and looking forward to delivery early March. Very exciting indeed,. I have been on a keen lookout for the IS on the road but see only very few. I hope you all are enjoying each daily experiences with your own IS250. Bob.
  6. Yes, a very rewarding read. Although the article does not talk about the keyless entry feature of the Lexus which I like very much (which the BMW 3 series does not have) I am after a Prestige model too, but it looks like delivery is likely to be the end of March if I buy now. Happy Australia Day to every Aussie here, Now back to work on Monday (for those lucky enough to take Friday off...like me!) Cheers
  7. Thanks for the info NetOne. Yes, when I contacted one of the brokers, he could only give me a quote of $61,300 on the road for the Prestige Auto+sunroof. Which is just the list price, I told him so and he said he would get back to me. If a dealer cannot do further cash discounts, and as the offical options on the lexus is limited, what type of things have you managed to get them to throw in ? - window tinting? - free carwashes? - towbar? - a smile? - .... Anyone managed to option up bigger wheels for the Prestige?? thanks and Happy Australia Day everyone!!! Bob
  8. Hi, Has anyone used a car broker to get the best deal on a car? Any thoughts if they are any good, or anyone you could recommend from your experience. thanks Bob
  9. Hi, Has anyone considered getting a towbar fitted to their new IS250? Any thoughts? thanks Bob
  10. Hi, I have read a bit about the Encore program from the Lexus Aust site, but it doesn't really say what you really get in NSW. I know you get roadside assistance and the loan car. What other real benefits are there? Opera House parking is a well know one but what else?? thanks Bob.
  11. Are these mod currently available in Japan for purchase, or are they special custom items?
  12. Hi, I am looking for a bike rack option to take my mountain bike around. Have anyone got any tips on what is the best bike rack (rear mounted?) or if a tow bar option is the best (but I wonder if it will still look good with the hole cut out from the bumper)? thanks in advance Bob
  13. Hi, There seems to be a lot of people who have bought their Lexus IS250 from Lexus of Brighton. Is that a big dealership in Melbourne? or it is only one of two (the other being Lexus of Melbourne?)
  14. I ordered an IS250 Sports Luxury on 4-Jan, for delivery on 24-Feb. The dealer, Lexus of Brighton, was prepared to do a good deal on the IS250 Sports (S), not quite so good on the IS250 Prestige (P) and not good at all on the IS250 Sports Luxury (SL). According to the dealer, the P is the biggest seller closely followed by the SL. The S is hardest to move according to them. But that may be sales talk to make me feel better about the ordinary deal I did. I have spoken to the sales rep a couple of times since and he is selling at least 1-2 IS250s per day. So it sounds like a seller's market at present. I have seen two different IS250s on the road this week, so they are getting out and about in Melbourne. I am hopefully driving to Sydney in the new baby in April for a week, so if you see a Silver IS250 with Vic Plate " V IS 251" that's me. Good luck with the purchase. BTW, what are you driving now, I am in a 5yo Volvo S60 2.4T. Thanks TonyDownunder, currently driving a 4 year old Holden Astra and it is starting to show signs of 'oldness'. Did you trade in your Volvo or are you selling it privately? I will be sure to keep an eye open for the V IS 251 plate. Silver is my second fav colour, with black and black interior currently at the top. The Prestige is the one I am looking at. Did the dealer give you an overnight test drive option. I will see if anyone in Sydney will offer it as I think it will give a good feel for the car. Also do you or do you know anyone who needs to fit a mountain bike into the car, I haven't seen any good bike racks (rear mounted), and I hear you need to cut a hole in the rear bumper to fit a tow bar (wonder if it will look any good). Cheers
  15. Best IS250 deal in Australia? Hi all, I have visited and read many of the informative posts with interest, I see there are many people who love their new IS 250. I live in Sydney and I have not see too many on the road ( I have seen about 5 in 2 mths), and my eyes light up whenever I spot a new IS250. I am serious about a purchase shortly (in the next month) and wonder if those of you who have already purchased would like to share if you got a good deal on the car. Maybe just an indication of the discounts a dealer would give on such a new car, and if the dealer offered any resistence. thanks in advance Bob Ps: I have also posted this topic in the LOC Australia, but I hear the LOC UK forum is much more popular.
