  1. I turned off the Wi-Fi power setting in the car and the message disappeared. I suppose this is a solution. Thanks to all who contributed suggestions.
  2. I have not found a way to delete the connected services username/etc from the vehicle. It might go if I deleted all private data but that is a little drastic. I have tried turning off all the auto connect functions but they seem to restart if they spot a wi fi connection. I'll inhibit that next to see if it will allow me to delete connected services. I did manage to download on my PC the most recent map update (free) but when the usb was inserted in the vehicle it wanted an authorisation code. Others have downloaded and update without this request so that maybe subject to a connected services validation. This is irritating and I am wasting too much time on what should be a easy function on a quality car. Fortunately current restrictions on movement means it is better than jigsaws!
  3. A bit of an update. Lexus Wolverhampton said that this message cannot be switched off (which is very annoying) except by updating the map which they will do for about £180. I don't fancy paying for that. I think that the message probably relates to the expiry of the Lexus "Connected Services" subscription which is included in the purchase price of the vehicle for the first 3 years, so the timing of the message is about right. The my Lexus site says that I can buy a 1 year subscription to "Connected Services" for £25 and it implies that I will get a free upgrade to my maps included. This seems more reasonable. Only downside is that every time I get to the Lexus eshop. I place the order only to be told that an error has occurred and the service is not available. I think the Lexus website is poorly designed and hard to navigate but has anyone managed to purchase a connected services subscription recently?
  4. I have a premium Lexus Nx300h. It was 3 years old in December 2020. Since that time it has insisted on start-up of displaying a message on the screen that reads "Your subscription has expired. Please go to my.lexus.eu to subscribe." I have to click on OK every time the car starts to get rid of the message. Very annoying as it doesn't seem to want to take "NO" for an answer. I have to confess that I didn't know I had a subscription! The navigation et al handbook is difficult to navigate and is reluctant to divulge what this message is all about. So simple question "how do I get rid (permanently) of this irritating message? and what have I been missing through not knowing I had this subscription for the last three years?
  5. I also get the freezing on Dec 2017 Premier Nx300h. Happens about 1 time in 20. Not a problem but it should not happen at all. Pushing audio button for 5+seconds does reset. I will be interested to know if the software upgrade works. Slightly off topic but has anyone managed to get an up-to-date version of the navigation manual as a hardcopy rather than a download. I was supposed to get one as part of the sales deal but the correct version seems unavailable as a hard copy.
  6. Many thanks for the comments. It looks as though it is a 'design feature'; just not a very good one if it is meant to be the demarcation between the two maps. It also appears when there is no need to separate the maps in navigation mode. See picture below. Has anyone managed to let a printed copy of the new navigation manual. I was supposed to get one from Lexus Birmingham as part of the deal but nothing has appeared yet and the new manuals seem elusive?
  7. I have a new Nx330h Premier (December 2017). It is fitted with the Premium Navigation system and it displays a curious fault. When the map is configured to display two maps side by side the smaller map shows a dark area on the left hand side. This only happens with the small map. The camera display is perfect and if the navigation system is showing the lane guidance there is no mark. You can see the mark over the village of Stretton. It is independent of the contrast or other settings. I took it into Lexus Wolverhampton for them to look at and worryingly the courtesy car displayed the same fault. Indeed two other vehicles did the same. So, has anyone else spotted this, or has got the Premium nav pack without the effect. I don't regard this as satisfactory but it would be nice to know that I am not alone.
  8. I have also transferred from a NX300h (2014) to a premier NX300h. Excellent car but moving to the new nav system does give some challenges. I think I also had to get the nav system to register with the home Wi-Fi before it was happy. I had the same message but it has now disappeared. I am getting the full printed handbook as part of the deal so some further information might be in that. Couple of comments and questions for others. 1) I used mylexus to create a route and it transferred easily to the car via the home Wi-Fi, very easy compared with the last car. BUT I have not yet found how to transfer locations to the car via the same system. It says that you can but I must be missing something. Anyone know how? 2) I had hoped that I could transfer the memory points from the old vehicle to the new one. I downloaded the old memory points to a USB stick but the new car doesn't seem to recognise it. Anyone know if this is possible as the garage have gone strangely quiet when I ask how to do it!
  9. I have had three Rx400h/450h's. Great cars and I enjoyed every minute in them. But downside was that I really didn't need the space and the cars were not as easy to manoever in the miserable car parks we have as I would like. Boot space tende to only get used when I had to help offspring move to another London flat. Finally took the sensible decision and parted company with the last Rx450h and bought a Ct200h Premier. Obvious advantages are that it is easier to park and my wife is more comfortable driving it. Excellent driving position and the interior noise is no different from the Rx450h. If you want all the toys (such as photochromatic mirrors and the best seats then you do need the premier whereas the SE-L would have given you most items on the Rx. Petrol consumption indicated after the first 1000 miles is 59mpg as against 36mpg in the Rx. I know that some people have said that they found that the ride was harsher on UK roads. I can only report that I have not noticed this characteristic. Seems fine to me. I am now completely at home in the vehicle and don't miss the Rx but the CT is not really as comfortable if you had to take four people long distances or move luggage around. Keep losing it in carparks as it is low down and not as visible as the Rx. Only irritating feature is a constant beep when the car is in reverse for some reason this can only be switched off at the dealers so will have to get this done as I know when I am in reverse as I can see the scenery going backwards past the window. Best feature is that the car is now too small to help children move flat so they are on their own for that chore. Overall I'm glad I switched but it really comes down to the type of car that you need.
  10. I have an Rx450h. Brilliant car but I might have pressed the wrong button! On the navigation screen you can change the range/scale of the map by pressing the small button, up or down, at the front of the 'mouse'. This usually works without hesitation. However now when I press the button it has no effect and the map appears to have locked onto a scale of 0.5 miles Is it duff or have I accidently switched some critical function off?
  11. I changed from a Rx400h to a 450h last month and I am very pleased with the new car. Following comments may help Good points of 450h 1) No more stupid requirement to have to agree to that lawyer babble before you can get the nav screen working 2) Parking sensors are useful. Never had them before but the system works well 3) Split screen nav facility is very good when you are in unfamiliar territory 4) Fuel consumption is interesting. I got about 34 mpg on the 400h but seem to be returning 38 - 39 mpg on the 450h. On recent run using tank full to tank full it returned 42mpg. This is all very style dependant but I'm no slouch. 5) Wing mirrors auto fold and keyless entry. Poor points. 1) Nokia n85 phone which worked perfectly on 400h refuses to couple to the 450h. List of compatible phones can be found on Lexus website. I don't understand why this is so difficult to get to work correctly 2) Left armrest has gone and cetral console is a bit bulky and less ergonomic for my shape 3) No much room with spare tyre for bits and pieces and tyre is the 'emergency' type 4) no sun roof I can't tell the difference between the ride of the 450h and the old 400h so air suspensionis not an issue for me. As I did a trade in I cannot comment on the question of discounts but my impression is that they are modest 5% max? there also seems to be a fair wait (10 weeks) for new vehicles to a particular spec. Conclusion... If you like the 400h you will be pleased with the 450h but it is slightly different. Higher spec than the one you are thinking of doesn't do anything for me. Hope this helps
  12. I had a good look round a Rx450h. Very impressive! I'm currently on my second Rx400h so I'll have to wait a bit before I think of an upgrade. However there seems to be one small omission on the Rx450h. There is no cigarette lighter socket. Is this yet another outbreak of political correctness or have I just been unable to find the socket amongest all the other gizmos? Just to make it clear I am a non smoker but I do use the socket for various other tasks like the auto garage door opener, mobile phone recharger etc. So what's going on? Is there some new rule about these sockets or have Lexus gone a bit over the top.
  13. Well I have a 300 and I would love to be able to get my doors to lock as the car moves off. Is there a way to program this in. Found this on the web I think this lot might help (a) Locking linked with the shift position All the doors are locked automatically when the selector lever is moved out of the "P" position with the ignition switch in the "ON" position. This is suppose to be the default setting for new vehicles. (B) Unlocking linked with the shift position All the door are unlocked automatically when the selector lever is moved to the "P" position with the switch in the "ON" position. © Locking linked with the vehicle speed All the doors are automatically locked when the vehicle speed reached 12 mph or higher. However, if any door is unlocked during driving, the auto function will not operate until the unlocked door is opened once. (d) All the doors are unlocked automatically when the driver's door is opened within 10 seconds after the ignition switch is turned from "ON" to the "ACC" or "LOCK" position. Setting the functions 1. Close all the doors. 2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position. 3. Within 10 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the "ON" position; +To set function (a) Push and hold the front of the power door lock switch for 5 seconds with the selector lever in the "P" position. +To set function (B) Push and hold the rear of the power door lock switch for 5 seconds with the selector switch in the "P" position. +To set fuction © Push and hold the front of the power door lock switch for 5 seconds with the selector switch in any position except "P". +To set function (d) Push and hold the rear of the power door lock switch for 5 seconds with the selector switch in any position except "P". All the doors are automatically locked and unlocked when you release the power door lock switch. This indicates that the functions is set. If all the doors do not lock and unlock, the time the switch was held may have been too short or too long. Perform the procedure over again starting at step 1. If you want to cancel a function, repeat the procedure. Each time you perform the procedure, the function is set or cancelled. Hope it helps Nev ;)

  15. On my new Rx400h the doors automatically lock when I drive faster than about 5 mph. I want to stop them doing this so I have carefully followed the instructions on page 60 of the manual. Nothing seems to work. Am I missing something obvious or is there a magic word that I have to use?
  16. It was certainly in 'park'. I have a Trackstar installed. I wonder if that draws enough current to run the battery down?
  17. I'd been away for about 3 weeks and left the RX400h safely parked in the garage with everything switched off. I was more than a bit surprised to find that it would not start when I returned as the auxilary battery had run down (That's the 'normal' battery to the non hybrid people). While it started first time when I connected a booster this is worryning behavior particularly as my wife's toyota Yaris stared first time with an enthusiastic spring in its step! I would have been seriously annoyed if this had happened in an airport car park on a wet wednesday after a long flight. Has anyone else experienced this problem and what is going on?
  18. I'm glad someone else had a bit of trouble getting tmc to fire up. I couldn't find any hint in the handbook that you had to have the radio swithched on to get tmc to work. But you do and that seems a bit cheap as adding a default tuner would have been fairly easy. Anyway in the UK I think the tmc radio is often Capital FM (certainly in the midlands). You can have the radio actually tuned into a different station (thankfully) and I usually run it with the radio volume turned right down (so the DVD palyer is working). My experience is that TMC is fairly fast and furious in terms of giving information (2 - 3 minutes maximum is the norm) Over all a very useful facility, much much better than trafficmaster and a great help in getting round motorway jams (although I sometimes wonder if I'' following other people with the tmc guidance turned on!)
  19. Problem solved Up loaded address book using the Samsung D900 Took Samsung back to the phone shop and exchanged it for a Sony Ericsson W800i. The Sony Ericsson works perfectly and auto links to the car everytime without me having to do anything to it. It shouldn't have had to be this difficult! P.S. Although the W800i is a less flashy design than the Samsung I think it is a better phone. Seems more intuitive to use.
  20. I can help a little but not a lot! I also have a Rx400h and a Samsung D900. The Samsung replaced a motorola which worked perfectly. On the phone go to Bluetooth and the options for the Hands-free that you have set up. In the options I think at number 5 there is the choice of 'authorise device/ unauthorise device'. Select 'unauthorise device. When you get in the car and switch on the car will contact the phone and the phone will ask you whether or not you want to accept the device. You press yes on the key board. The phone then seems to stay connected. This is annoying as you have to reconnect your phone each time you get in the car! As both the car and the phone are meant to be state of the art this is not acceptable. Icidentally the system adds insult to injury by making a loud raspberry noise for 5 seconds before connecting a call from the one touch dial, Anyone else get insulted in the same way. Any other advice on how to make the connection stick will be gratefully received Peter
  21. RX400h since January 2006. Now done 15,600 miles. Average MPG over the last 3500 miles is 34.5 and that is confirmed by checking the tank every so often. Brilliant car. No noticeable tyre wear. No faults but there was one "WHY HAS IT DONE THAT MOMENT". I was stationary on the motorway for about 20 minutes. parking brake was on and the gear lever was in neutral (Yes I know but that was where I had put it). Without warning the navigation screen went bright red and a message appeared along the lines of 'hybrid battery discharged' , 'select park'. It said a lot of other things but I was so surprised that I didn't really take it all in. I was concerned that I might be stuck on the motorway, I was in a single coned off lane, so I did as I was told and selected 'park'. After a few moments I think the petrol engine fired up , presumably to recharge the battery and the screen went back to the navigator mode. Telling me I was stationary on the M6! I can't find anything about this in the handbook, anyone else experienced a similiar event. First time I have been firmly rebuked by the car I was driving but I assumed it meant well.
  22. Absolutely no problems with the trafficators. On fuel consumption it must be very dependent on the individual car and driver. After 5000 miles with air con always on I've got 34.1mpg for the last 1500 miles. The best milage seems to get returned by stop start driving in motorway queues!. I've a reasonably light right foot and normally get close to the mileage quoted as the 'combined' consumption on vehicles. getting the maximum out of the regenerative braking may be one of the key factors in better mpg. Car did appear to improve slowly over the last few months in this respect. hope this helps
  23. I thought that the RDS-TMC system worked off an independent tuner that picked up a signal from classic FM. Mine will only declare that it is receiving a signal when the radio is turned on (even if the radio is not tuned to Classic FM (as it wouldn't be!)). So the question is simply does the radio have to be turned on to get the RDs-TMC system to work. Handbook is silent on this as far as I can see. Many thanks to those who know the answer. Peter
