  1. Hi Guys, The JDM Altezza uses a highly tuned n/a 4 cyl 2.0l engine with dual VVTI. No turbo.
  2. Hi Steve, I went online for a quote last year with Direct line, but they weren't that competive for me. I usually go through the yellow pages, or online for quotes. Abbey National have been the cheapest for the last two years - maybe as i have my mortgage with them. NotoriousREV - You were very lucky not to have a crash. I think i'll avoid Budget in future! brn7y - I've never tried Bell direct - I will ring them in June when my renewal is due. Seems a good price. Co-incidentally, I was paying a similar price (£450, protected ncb, low excess, with Admiral) 3 years ago, until I bought a brand new house, which insurance companies place a high risk on, due to the lack of claims experience. This should reduce after a few years, but this don't seem fair to me. The speeding didn't help either. Phil:D
  3. How expensive is insurance for your IS200? Here's mine: IS200 Sport, fully comp, full no claims, 27 years old, 3 points for speeding:o £500 excess:mad: £560 with Abbey National Phil
  4. Wallace You may have a point there - I can't remember having any problems after the car has been in the garage overnight. So it may be temperature related???? Forgot about another fault: Door pins wear our - peugeot style - causing a clicking noise when you open the front doors. Both sides replaced under warranty. By the way - I don't want to come across negative about the car - I think it's great. I just think that my car has suffered from being an early production model, i.e. reg. 6/99. Cheers Phil. Does anyone know how much extended warranties cost? - i'll probably need it:tumble:
  5. No But I would consider a manual if it ever comes out in the UK. Although, it would need to be a little cheaper than the auto. A large engined diesel would also be nice, maybe an IS300d.... Phil
  6. Lexicon, No, the problem is after the car has sat for a while, whether that be 1 or 8 hours. It seems to happen more in the winter than the summer. The car always starts fine the second time around, and it is'nt that frequent, so i'm not too concerned at the moment. I'll get it checked out again when my replacement wheels arrive from Lexus. Phil
  7. I got away from work early today, so I went along to the dealers to show them the problems with my new wheels. They were shocked that they could deteriate so much in 3 months, and have agreed to replace them under warranty. This will take a few weeks at least, as the problem is so commonplace that Lexus UK have told dealers that they can only order one set of wheels per day, such is the demand. My dealer has 5 orders yet to be placed (i'm 5th), and i'm am apparently not the first owner to be on their 3rd set of wheels (including originals). I hope that this helps. Phil
  8. Thanks for the replies guys. Yet more problems still to be sorted with my "Monday morning car" : 1. Juddering drivers folding door mirror (only occasionally does it - never when i'm near the dealer). 2. Poor starting - about once every 4-6 weeks the car turns over very fast, as if the starter motor is spinning - again, it never does it at the dealers, and they can't find a fault. Thats all the faults for today!! By the way Richie, last summer I got fed up with all of the faults on my car, and tried without success to sell it. Only two guys came to look at it, and both were driving Honda Civic Coupes - different colours though! I guess the IS200 must a natural progression for Civic drivers! Phil
  9. Hi Robbie, I'll let you know how i get on when I next go to the dealers, although I won't get a weekday off work for a few weeks. The dealers agreed within seconds to replace the first set, although I did have to return to the garage 3 times as I rejected one wheel for slight damage to the rim. I then had to return to get the steering straightened up, as it was knocked out when fitting the wheels. Phil
  10. North East England I'm from Durham, and get the car serviced at Lexus Newcastle, who apart from the prices, are normally very good. Phil
  11. Hi everyone, I thought it would be useful to list the problems I have had so far with my car, and then we can do a comparison to see which problems are common to the IS200. The following have been replaced under warranty: 1. 5 x 17 inch Alloys - Pitting 2. Head unit - cd player wouldn't play 3. Driver's seat - motor failure & creaks - fixed twice then replaced 4. ABS ecu - abs failure 5. Clutch pedal - clicking noise 6. Front brake discs - corrosion 7. Headlamp washer - poor alignment 8. Floor mats - recalled due to catching throttle - very scary! 9. Exhaust chrome tip - corrosion 10. Rusting stone chips on roof - obviously not galvanised. Re-painted free of charge Do any of these sound familiar to your car? Phil :P
  12. Hi, My services so far: 10,000 = £119 20,000 = £213 30,000 = £279 (inc front pads) There isn't much competition up here in the north-east, so I think we get ripped off a touch. Cheers, Phil :tumble:
  13. Hi All, I have an IS200 Sport, in silver with 33,000 miles on it. I bought it in June 1999. Is my car the oldest IS in the club? bye, Phil :P
  14. Hi Guys - 1st post - I hope it works! My dealer has replaced 6 of my alloys on my IS200 - 5 for pit-marks and 1 for kerb damage caused whilst at the dealers. Apparently, this is a common problem on the 17 inch wheels. Also, when washing my car a few weeks back, I noticed very slight blistering paint on all 4 of the new wheels presently on the car. These wheels are only 3 months old! I will go back to the dealer in a week or two to try for another new set. bye, Phil ;)
