  2. when very cold i used to get a slight tapping on start up, I put this down to my car being parked on a sloping driveway & the oil not quite getting to where it needed to in the first couple of seconds.
  3. I can not say much about an SC but i have had stainless fitted to all my previous cars (not my current Subaru Forester). Yes it makes the throttle response a bit crisper, improved MPG? possibly but not too noticeable but that could be because of the sportier sound that makes you drive a little more spirited & so offsets the increase. obviously a stainless system has the potential of being slightly heavier but should out live the car. You will probably have an increase in sound. some of my systems have had tailpipe inserts that do quieten the system down.

  5. had strut braces front & rear on my Lowered IS200 Sport, sounds odd but never noticed the difference when they where fitted but when I took them off to sell the car i could then tell they wasn't on & it felt a bit wallowy. certainly in future i would spend the money on uprated ARB's

  7. Looking good! you will be happy with an IS200. Love the Corrado, i had a VR6 before getting my Lex.
  8. i sold my 'T' (1999) with 176K miles & it was still going strong, bodywork was still good, engine spot on, still responsive & liked a good spirited drive. Had it serviced at my local independent garage & only used BP Ultimate petrol (if that added to it). Sold it last August & really miss it
  9. looks great! my dad used to have a series B Opel Manta (old S reg)...wicked car from what i can remember. Problem he had with it was no2 piston ring used to fail, helped him do an engine change from a Berlinetta
  10. think if anybody wants something then they will get in no matter what. with previous cars I have had locks popped out, glass smashed but since having alarmed & imobalised cars I have not had any issues. just be cautious, anything that looks tempting to take put out of sight, head units, phones, sat nav etc.
  11. alternatively when you need new tyres get them fitted from WIM after you get Geo done, make a day of it
  12. one of the parts I will be selling is a JDM dash tray, its 2nd hand as it was in my IS200 but need to look into best way of selling my parts, on here or ebay
  13. i lowered mine with Spax springs, had the geometry calibrated by WIM 4 times over the 7 years I owned the car & putting about 80k on the clock. only minor adjustments made after the initial calibration, in the 7 years I only needed to change 2 shocks. sold the car a few weeks ago with over 170k miles. ride was not much different from stock tbh
  14. no need to change water pump at the same time as it works independently from the cam-belt, you can change it at a later date with out interfering with the cam-belt
  15. 3 days of advertising & its sold, had lots of enquiries & the first person that come to view it, bought it. already miss it, has been the best car I have owned but after 7 years of ownership & 170k miles, she's done good!
  16. Hi guys, I have owned my '99 IS200 Sport for 7 years & its getting to that time where I will be putting it up for sale. My car rule had been to keep them for 3 years & move on, my Lexus has messed up that rule, it is still an enjoyable car to drive & certainly the most reliable car I have owned too. I have recently bought a 2003 Subaru Forester 2.0X (SG) as since taking up shooting & owning a German Shepherd I have out grown the Lexus, I have a few little jobs to do on the Subaru then I will be selling my Lexus. I have pretty much returned my Lexus back to standard so may have a few bits & bobs for sale, I will certainly keep you guys posted. I wish to say thank you for all the support I have had over the years, the meets I have been on have been most entertaining.
  17. I know its been a while since I was last one, the site has changed, A lot! Still have my Lex, 1999 now with 170k on the clock, haven't done anything extra to the car, just keeping it serviced & buying petrol. earlier this week i took a trip to WIM/Blackboots for the 4th or 5th time, had new tyres fitted which where Falken FK452's, so far they seem really good & a nice price too. I had Falken ZE912's which lasted me 3 years (not winter). also had a geo done which i was pretty happy with as camber didn't need any adjustment, all that needed doing was a tracking adjustment. Again a great service from the chaps at WIM the old gal is doing really well
  18. I don't use my Lexus centre for servicing but i do for parts & i have been pleasantly surprised with the prices i have got, wheel bearings, batteries have been cheaper than online sites & Halfrauds...I have always had a good level of service from Cambridge Lexus

  20. my 1999 IS200 with 156k miles had its MOT today, i'v owned it 4.5 years and not had any issues at all, so was this years MOT any different, Nope again passed, no advisories, its all good. Theres my thinking about changing to a Subaru Legacy Estate but I dont think im going to bother when everything is this good & its not costing me money yet. Cheers Lexus my great car is still kicking *****!
  21. i read my GPS speed, this has been covered a few times before. my g/f's both GPS and Speedo are very close but my Lex different story...one of the reasons is wheel size of the wheels on your car that knocks the calibration of your speedo out. manufacturers work in tolerances and speedo's should read close/under what your speed is
  22. a supplier we use has 2 RX's, 1 is farely new the other is clocking up the mileage & he says they are sound! main thing will be cambelt service, I dont think you will have any issues, its a Lexus!
  23. I have Winter Tyres on a second set of wheels, they are fitted to Lexus GS wheels, Tyres are Nokian WR & I normally fit them at the start of December or when we start getting regular frosts. Winter Tyres are M&S which is Mud & Snow, I live in the coutryside where We never get gritted when it snows, we also have alot of farms around so lots of mud on the road. I have had these Tyres for the last 3 years & never got stuck, for me they are a great purchase and I will be getting them for future cars. I also carry grit & a shovel in my boot, never used them. There is a slight issue if your car is lowered as I find the front of mine has doubled as a snow plough a few times
  24. I thought about the Sportcross as it's something I know very well, then thought that I may compare too much to my existing Lex & if it's not as good then would be a low. Try something new too
