  1. Hi I had this on a previous car, WD40 worked for a while but all started up again in the summer, i used a 3in1 spray with ptfe (i think) that did the job, also fixed the interior fan from screaming at me.
  2. previous cars i have used petrol and a paintbrush to clean the engine bay. best thing is the petrol evaporates (normally on a warm engine-NOT hot!)best not drive it for little bit afterwards but i have found it works well.
  3. Dont wanna put you off but your front brakes are going to start clonking in car parks soon...wouldn't worry about that either...lots of other posts on that! B)
  4. <~~~ Ta Da! Thanks to Dave @ Prolex-uk I fitted the Prolex induction kit friday just gone, nice and easy all i did was put a new bit of 16mm hose on. Sounds good, took it down to Lakeside on sunday and at a point on the throttle you can really hear it whistle it was great, give it some hammering and i thought it made the exhaust note a little throatier (standard exhaust...at the moment) does sound good! i filled up on BP ultimate on got 120miles on top quater of tank - thats better for me. next job is some cold air ducting to it.
  5. i use auto glym wheel cleaner occasionally. is good, normally just use warm water on its own, thing is to keep on top of it i was my car every 1-2 weeks, sometimes put normal polish on the wheels and then buff them up (summer normal as not as much s**t on the roads) then it puts that protective layer on. Halfords wheel brush is very good, looks like a slab of cheese on a handle, its made of a foam like substance. I have heard of people using oven cleaner on wheels, have not personally done this but i expect you would probably have nice lemony smelling wheel. B)
  6. I have this on my car, I found that today in traffic rolling down a hill with the brakes applied a little i had clonk clonk clonk a bit of a CV joint sound but as we all know CV joints only make noise on full lock...its a silly niggly thing!
  7. when i had my VW Corrado VR6 that had chains, to just do the tensioners VW quoted me £1200 labour only, they claimed it would need a new clutch aswell, scared me a little.
  8. Had my cambelt done few months ago, supplied own belt, tensioner and bolt(think mine was about £60)...Had service done at same time, filters and oil...when changing the belt they found the crank shaft pully (also a counter weight) was cracked so also had new one of those (about £220 for pully) also got them to do an emissions test, when all was done come to about £560, very reasonable i thought. I see the car mid service (to see crank shaft pully) and the rad and other bits were out. This was done by a local garage near my work and it was the first IS200 they had done aswell. Oh, car had just hit 100k Looking at service book it says at that mileage the ABS and Airbags need checking...doubt that was done tho'
  9. a very good reason is, Lexus parper is a bit rubbish...it kinda says quietly excuse me! as what your looking at will say MOOOOOOOVE!!!!
  10. I had this on my corrado VR6, it was the crank shaft sensor pickup, used to misfire between 3500rpm-4500rpm, you could drive round them but it was a pain...had new sensor fitted and A-ok...appart from wallet :( didn't pickup on diagnostics very well. Don't know if lex is same set up tho'
  11. So what should you take notice off when going past a speed camera to be safe? Speedo or GPS???
  12. So does that mean that a rad cap does do what matey was saying...didn't think it would make any difference, thought it was only there to keep the water in. Since we are on the subject of radiators, how much do you feel yours up by? im used to expansion tanks, never had a radiator like that before...im currently running that when you take the rad cap off when cold you can see the level. cheers
  13. Mr Morse you are almighty knowledge of all. How will i know if it is the real deal and if it is a fake it will be just a nice add on for looks or will it somehow do damage? cheers Aaron
  14. Hello All Got a TRD radiator cap of ebay today, there saying that it'l make the engine run cooler because the caps rated for 1.3 bar (maybe) and the standard one is only 1.1 bar, is this complete b******s? Also say that its good for track racing and highly tuned cars etc http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TRD-Radiator-Cap-Toy...1QQcmdZViewItem link to similar item (sorry dont know how to do links yet) Thanks Aaron
  15. polo reads around 31, unlike IS that reads 33/34... is quite good just means that if you keep on schedule then most IS's are serviced very well(as they get in before hand) thanks for everybodys reply.
  16. Hey people. Ok i got a road angel few months ago, incase you didn't know it tells your speed with GPS (satelites) apparently really accurate. Ok my IS200 Sport has got the standard 17" alloys on. If im doing 70mph with my road angel my speedo in my dash reads about 76mph. In turn this must surely affect the overal milage of the car on the tacometer as are both run through the throttle cable??? My girlfriends got a Polo (poor little thing) :) thats got 14" wheels and when the road angel sits in there at 70mph, its about 72mph on her dash...so obviously vw have done a better job calibrating the wheels to the car, or something? Am i right thinking the entry IS200 has 16" wheels? if thats the case speedo should be fairly spot on? All you guys with 18's are probably really racking up the miles and thinking your going faster than what you really are! That is probably just gobledegook but i think i can understand it. not a good sign...anyways can the speedo get re-calibrated? i realise there is a tollerence for tyre pressures and depth.
  17. Sorry if my bit offended you, wasn't meant that way!
  18. but the NUR Spec on Mikes Tubby sounds absolutely gorgeous. Whats that then? NUR spec???
  19. Woah! what did i start? Red is looking good and very popular it seems (not with only corsa's) :) Think il try a few mixtures out, red with a little copper maybe...I was really after the copper grease spray colour but hammerites copper colour is WAY OFF! pics were a great help, cheers everybody!
  20. Ooooh I like it, where do the TRD decals come from?
  21. Hello. Have been trying to figure out what colour to do my brake calipers on my IS200. Am on standard wheels...What colour have you guys done yours and you got any pics? For last few weeks i have been buying hammerite and cutting out caliper shapes, painting them and seeing what looks best...it don't really work. Have got hammered black, copper, and red, Hammerite hasn't got the biggest selection of colours, any other types of paint work, an enamel maybe? cheers Aaron
  22. Have seen bumpers on www.ebay.co.uk and keyword lexus is200
  23. I would advise against EBC pads, I had them on my old VW Corrado VR6 and they were useless, the standard pads were a thousand times better. Was told it was because they were at there best when warm and trust me no difference, I found that they would over heat and smoke, Of course then even less braking power. Wasn't down to the discs as they were new. I really didn't feel confident with them. Gave them about 3months breaking in time and no better. I would spend the money and get something better, from what i have read people on here like Mintex, i think thats the way i'l be going. brakes are where you dont wanna skimp, look after you car and possibly your health.
  24. yup mine is knocking too, started about 2 weeks ago...after reading all this am just going to live with it...well try too
  25. Yes according to Mr.Singh, the Kazama is very Loud..... Kazama was loud on the 4 cylinder Altezza. Its not loud on the IS200 :D Hmm well that kinda answers my question too, I think prolex maybe getting some money from me :)
