  1. Tango Dont know the manufacture date or factory but I took delivery at the end of December 2005.
  2. I had exactly the same problem last year on my IS250. I was relieved that it happened at relatively low speed as the steering literally locked up. It would have taken the strength of 10 men to turn the steering wheel even slightly! Same story - RAC came out with a low loader and took it back to the dealership. The steering rack was replaced. I spoke to my dealer and told him that had it happened at high speed, I would have been off into the scenery at the next bend as I had no steering whatsoever. He wasnt able to tell me what had caused the fault. The racks are "sealed units" which are simply swapped out. He did assure me however that the replacement rack had been "redesigned" to overcome this known issue. At the time it sounded to me like a reason for a recall and reading of your experience makes it sound even more so.
  3. I have a T-Mobile branded HTC "MDA II". There have been no connection issues via Blutooth but I do not get a battery or signal strength indicator (Used to get this on my previous Sony Ericson). Phonebook entries can be transferred to the car but only one at a time as sadly there is no bulk transfer available (Again, the Sony Ericson used to do this). Im happy enough with the HTC at the moment but as soon as the new Sony Ericson XPERIA is available, I'll probaby switch.
  4. My car (a Dec 2005 IS250) has been back to the dealer 3 times since I bought it from new with wind noise issues from both front doors. On the last occassion they kept the car for a week. They agree that the wind noise is excessive but cant find the cause. They say that they've referred it to Lexus and are awaiting instructions on what to do next. As small a problem as it may seem, it's really spoiled my enjoyment of what otherwise is a great car. At anything over 65mph I get a constant, loud wind buffeting sound from both front doors or an irritating hiss in wet weather. Not heard from my dealer for a while so I guess its time to chase them up again
  5. As an IS250 owner (yes, who paid with his own money!) whos car does have some rattles and some excessive wind noise , I feel its worth adding that while it has been an annoyance, it has not spoiled my enjoyment of the car or made me regret buying it for one second. For me, the good things about the IS250 far outweigh the teething problems Im having. I should mention that my dealer has been on top of the issue from the first phone call I made to them. They've already made a 100 mile round trip to pick the car up and carry out an inspection and they will be making the same trip again, with a courtesy car for me to use, while they take my car for 2 days to carry out the required remedial work. I know the IS250 is an expensive purchase and Lexus do trade on their reputation for quality and refinement but don't get too hung up about the rattles thing or you'll be driving around straining your hearing and getting suspicious of the least little sound instead of enjoying the ride :winky:
  6. Hi guys My IS250 is booked in to have the dashboard rattles fixed. From what I've been told, the locating pins for the dash are too small - albeit it very slightly. This would explain why, for me anyway, the rattles are far worse when the car is cold. When the interior heats up there's obviously some expansion and the rattles decrease but dont vanish. Dealer says theres a mod. kit that will fix the problem. Another issue I've experienced that I havent seen mentioned elsewhere is wind noise. I have very localised wind noise from both front doors at anything above 65 mph - its almost as it the door was slightly open. I can only assume its poorly fitting seals. Anyone else noticed this? Dealer is going to look at it when he has the car for 2 days later this month. Hope the above info. helps.
  7. It certainly was ha55anx. Wasn't impressed at all by the member of staff I was dealing with. I phoned Edinburgh who matched the deal I was being offered. Got better information, advice, not to mention a better feeling in a 10min phone call than I'd had in 3 visits to the Glasgow dealership. There's no problem with the trip for servicing either. They are picking the car up from my office and leaving me a loan car while mine is serviced. I've just put them to the test on this and no issues at all. I seem to have excess wind noise at speed from the front door area of my car. Phoned the service dept. and asked if they had any other reports of this and they said no, but it shouldn't be there so could they have the car please. They're picking it up to investigate. I'm beginning to sound like an advert for them!! I'm really not associated with them in any way (honest!) - just really pleased to find a dealership that walks the walk as well as talking the talk. :)
  8. Jamboo Having read your tale of woe I can see why you are losing confidence in Lexus. If it's any comfort, (and it's probably not!) I think the issues are more to do with your dealership, as my own experience is the exact opposite. I bought my IS250 from Lexus Edinburgh in December. They are without doubt the most professional and customer oriented dealership I have ever come across in 20 years of buying cars. They have a good reputation and I ordered from them in preference to a more local dealer after being less than impressed with the attitude of the local dealership. From the word go I was kept informed of the progress of my order. When the indicative delivery date was confirmed they called me and called again to confirm arrival of the car and that it had passed the initial PDI and was considered "fit for delivery to the customer". Taking delivery of the car was an experience in itself. The "presentation room" is a simple but great idea. The salesman, Michael, spent almost 2 hours handing the car over, including a test drive to demonstrate the Sat Nav and parking system. He even connected my phone and transferred my phonebook to the car's system and set up the sat nav. to navigate me home from Edinburgh to Glasgow! This is my first Lexus and a superb car reinforced by excellent customer service has assured that my next one will be Lexus too. I hope everything gets sorted out for you soon.
