  1. Got a mail shot today saying Lexus Cardiff are looking to buy my Lexus, well three weeks ago they did not want to know so I traded my 300 in on a different marque, and I'm over the moon. Anyway they are also offering £10k off a new 350 so if you are in the market give them a call Steve
  2. I bought my 300 at Lexus Cardiff three years ago, I traded in a Jeep Cherokee ltd and was dealt with by a salesman named Paul Snowden, he was the best salesman I've ever bought a car from, so professional but he has sadly moved on. Their service manager Mr Williams is also superb. I returned there last March for my 2nd service with 9k on the clock. They had a new guy on sales who came from the Del Trotter School for sales. He promised to phone me later with a price against a 400h. He never rang. I change every three years, I visited Lexus Cardiff again two weeks ago and was offered £2k less than they gave me for my Jeep three years ago. I asked if there was a discount on the new car, same salesman as a year ago told me they don't need to offer discounts as they can sell hybrids without any trouble. They were looking for £26k plus my car for a 400H special edition. I have chosen a different company for my new car which arrives next Sunday, I will be sad to see my 300 go but as I said I like to change every three years and prefer to buy new. Whoever gets my 300 will have a cracking car, it's only done 14k. and I know the dealer will just sell it on to a trader as they don't want it on their forecourt. I have enjoyed owning a Lexus and would return in the future but I must say that they loose a huge amount of money and at this time I can't afford to loose the same over the next three years that I would loose if I stayed with Lexus
  3. I was given a Lexus boot liner from a Mk 1 and it's been in my 2006 for three years. The car is to be p/e'd in a fortnight. Anyone interested in it let me know. I'm in S Wales Steve
  4. Yeah I got offered £9500, I change cars every three years as the warranty runs out, over the last 12 years I have had a Ford Explorer, Freelander, Jeep and Lexus. By far the Lexus is the best, most reliable car I have owned. As long as I can afford to buy new I will, I have always lost about 50% of the value of each of the SUV's I have owned over the three years I have owned them. I thought the Lexus would have held it's value a little better but it's lost over 75% and only done 13K miles. I can't see how the luxury market can survive with this kind of depreciation. I was going to get a 400SR at £35k but had an unexpected bill for home repairs of £15k so this cut into my pot of available car money. There's no way I'm going to pay £25k to loose even more in three years time that's why I'm now looking at a Rav4 at £20k, most I can lose in 3 years is £20k even if I threw the car away at the end of that time. I am seriously considering getting the two years extended warranty at £1600, does anyone here know if Lexus are flexible on this price? Steve
  5. I popped into my local Toyota dealership today to get a price for a Rav 4, without a word from me they dropped the asking price by over £3k for a brand new XR-t, but then came the shock, they only offered me less than 30% of the purchace price on my 2yr 10 month old RX300 with 13K on the clock. One thing that worried me was that the Rav4 has no spare wheel only a repair kit. Salesman said this is no worry as the emergency service will come take care of a puncture if it is not able to be repaired with the kit. Yeah don't worry, when it blows at 2am on Christmas morning way in the back of beyond. If it had a spare I could be on my way in less than half an hour. Guess I'm looking at buying two years extra warranty and then at the rate of depreciation I could throw the 300 away and get 5 years out of it at £6.5k a year. So far it's cost me a few quid short of £8k a year
  6. My CD on my RX is a bog standard but it gives me these errors from time to time, had a few the last month or so when the car is cold, may be the discs are too cold or when the car warms quickly there may be condensation on the disc which will give a read error. The first few times I had a real problem ejecting the discs until I came upon a simple solution. Turn the unit off Then turn off the engine so that no lights are on on the dash Push down and hold the power button on the cd player, whilst holding it down, turn the key to power up the unit. Remove your finger from the power button, you may need to press again to switch it on. Error should now clear. This has never failed to clear the faults I have had ranging from unreadable discs to un-ejectable discs. Steve A great very many thnanks!!!!!!!!!! You are correct to say the discs were very difficult to eject. I had pressed the eject button many times to no avail, however the next time I turned on the engine they all immediately spewed out (I can't remember but I might well have tried pressing the power button when I turned on the engine button). Subsequently it would not let me reload any cds. You are also absolutely correct about how to clear the error. Your instructions above worked first time. The problem has reoccurred but has again been cleared by your instruction. Sossages is a happy bunny. Happy New Year to you!!!!!!!!! Glad to be of assistance Steve

  8. mine will be 3 years old next March, I always change every time the warranty expires (3 yrs), it only has 11k on it and I expect it to have no more than another 3k by next March. I know I'll get hammered by the Lexus crew when it's time to change. I may well take out an extra warranty and keep it, anyone know how much it is to extend it and does the extension cover the same items as the original? thanks Steve
  9. Hi over the last few weeks I have noticed that the steering on my 2006 RX300 has become a bit iffy. It's difficult to describe but it's as if the road is icy, I know it's not, and the steering has some play in it. It seems kind of vague, pressure in all four tyres are spot on and the car has only done 9k miles in two years. Sometimes I wonder if I am imagining it as prior to Christmas the steering was tight and predictable. Has anyone else had this? thanks Steve
  10. I have a 2006 RX300 and I always get 30+ on mways and 20+ on short hauls, which includes lots and lots of hills where I live
  11. On a recent trip to Birmingham, my 3 month old RX300 averaged 32.5mpg, and I was stuck for 1 hr in a jam , am I pleased? :D my Jeep Cherokee 3.7 would not to more than 20mpg no matter how it was driven
  12. Had one for a day while my 300 was in for a minor problem. Boy is it fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Could not get to grips with the battery powering the car and the only noise being the road. Although it was only two months old it had a few rattles from the rear, my 300 is super silent. I found the ride to be much harder but I guess the suspension was uprated for the speed, extra weight. Also the brakes were very sharp, just a touch on the pedal and they were "on". Wife was not too happy with me pitching her at the screen every time we slowed down.. It was a great car but all in all I prefer my 300. Just my opinion, your mileage may vary
  13. thanks chips. i think you are right as the idle speed is perfect when warm, only 600rpm With regard to the air intake, how do i get no air in at all, have switched ac and auto off but fresh air still come thru the vents and at 70 mph it can be a cool breeze thanks Turn off the climate control and switch on the internal recirculation switch. That should stop the air flow. Tony thanks Tony

  15. no, only use the a/c when it's been hot, only a few days so far this year. Talking about the a/c, with the ac off and auto on I get cold air coming thru the vents, with the auto off I still get cold air, is there a way to completely shut the air intake off. Somedays I find it not too warm or cold enough to have anything on thanks
