  1. OK heres the story : Last night got home from work, dashed in to the house as the wife had an appointment. At about 21:30 when the wife returned I realised that I hadnt folded the mirrors so I went out, to find that non of the key buttons worked. Right, flat battery, so went a got the spares (both other sets) and still nothing. Put the key in the lock and WHAM alarm. Puzzled came into the house and tried the trusted fountain of knowledge (the LOC forum) only be suprised by the amount of other people who had suffered the same problem. A few of the treads stated that it just put itself right, and others suggested jumping in starting the car and hoping the alarm reset itself after 10 secs. So this morning 6:30 went out and still nothing on any of the keys. So much to the neigbours delight jumped in and luckily 10 or so seconds later (felt like a lot longer) the alarm stopped screaming and I set off to work. I got to work with the intension of calling the dealers when they got to work, but low and behold the car locked and openned and relocked etc without a problem !!!!! Right eventually (I hear you say) is the question to any of you guys and gals who have had a similar experience , can I expect this to be a one off or once it's happened does it continue to happen and is there an underlying problem which needs fixing ?
  2. Slightly but is it part of the service to clean the car ? not had mine back at the dealer for a service yet, but it's only a few months away and it would be nice to know what to expect, it will be it's 70k Thanks Chris
  3. Ouch.... sounds like bad news.. How many miles you got on the clock ?
  4. Not quite sure , but a guy at work had a similar problem a few years ago in a Peugeot, turned out to be the heater matrix (somewhere behind the dash) that was leaking !
  5. Scarface, is this facility available on the MK1 IS ?
  6. I assume the band at the bottom you are talking about is to un-freeze the wipers or something like that - does this come on with the rear-winder heater thing or what? And, yes I am thinking along the lines of "quick clear" screens, and you can get them in plenty of vehicles nowadays, not just fords. Just wondered if any glass manufacturers were doing them for vehicles where they are not an original option. No sure about that. I used Tomtom (PDA and Mobile 5) with seperate GPS receiver in a Focus Ghia with Quickclear and it was no problem.. I think there is a problem with receivers if the windscreen has the heated coated (like what you might find on a renault) because the glass acts a reflector to so thay have a small area at the base of the screen thats not coated !!!
  7. @ Bobski How does this work ? I have never noticed a button ! :duh:
  8. @ Jim I can certainly be done with the old IS I have a Nokia bluetooth kit fitted and it does mute on incoming and out going calls, with both Nokia and Motorola phones, so can't imagine the new version backtraking not to have this feature ?
  9. Hi, I had mine replaced under warrenty but, I do know that the dealer sent it to Autosounds in Bradford, if you give them a ring they should be able to give you a price to fix it. I does take several weeks though !
  10. Try holding the button down for 3 seconds
  11. I really appricate all the help I have had from Teesside, with regards the tyres and other small problems that I have had since buying, they are a 1st class dealership. Keep up the good work. :)
  12. Slightly but I wish you could switch between day and night. Night mode is great at night but not when you put your lights on because its raining
  13. Good Afternoon All We'll it's been 5 weeks since Teesside took the tyres off and I paid my % of the tyres, and I hadn't heard anything, so I rang them on Friday to find the results,( even if only to update this thread) the sales guy, said he would enquire and get back to me. Anyway today Good News, Bridgestone have confirmed the tyres to be defective and I am to get a full refund RESULT. :) :) :)
  14. It may be the dealer talking :tsktsk: Bollards but I was told when my stereo was sent away, that they couldn't just pop another 1 in because the radio was hard coded to the car ??????
  15. :) Best get it down to the dealer sharp as, I think he's traction controls KnaCkered :D
  16. I have the same car and when iding mine shows 0 MPG, but I agree that the average is about 25, best I have had on a run is 35 and thats not hanging about so it's not to bad.
  17. Hi Guys, this might be slightly but my car is same colour as Fidgits , but has lots of fine lines (mainly on the doors), I have tried T-Cut but it does seem heavy enough. Does anybody have any suggestions. I would love it to sparkle. :)
  18. YES I HAVE checked them yesterday only about 3 months old and small cracks all around the tread gonna take them back tomorrow Let me know how you get on.
  19. Sharkman, does this mean you can't have the auto lights option switched on ? My lights are always on auto and I've not had any problems....... The rating you choose is all personal preference, the 6500K is much whiter, the 8300K has a hint of blue to it, but I prefer the way they really pick up catseyes which makes driving down unlit motorways much easier :winky: What sort of cost ?
  20. Sharkman, does this mean you can't have the auto lights option switched on ?
  21. @Simon0161 What sort of cost to supplied (painted) and fit ? When do the inside gubbins go ?
  22. :) Hi Sarah, Welcome You can send your stereo to Autosounds in Bradford, they are the UK Lexus stereo repairers. Not sure how much it will cost, but it may work out cheaper than an aftermarket if you have to replace the Amp etc. They'll put all new inners in so it should be a long term fix. It may, depending on your insurance policy be possible to claim on your insurance, I know thats what a guy who works with the brother in law did, he just paid the excess !!
  23. Thanks Guys would love a new version but not sure I can justify the £140 ish cost. Where will I fine the GPS lead, so I can try and clean it. I have looked on ebay for original disks but they are all 5 or 6 years old, which is pointless. If anybody knows of anyone who has a disk for sale, please ask them to give me a buzz. :)
