  1. no - I voted YES. ok so I also had strange thoughts about perhaps getting a skoda oct rs (or WRX or audi A4) but I just couldn't do that to him. Having tasted the delights of an IS there can be only one...
  2. ...sooo it makes things cool down when you put on some music to chill out...? :D
  3. Yes. What could be better? (Apart from an IS300 perhaps - shame there's no manual here yet.) Perhaps if he gets the LPG well and truly sorted (if its not already?)... or rips it out...he'll be happier.... (PS Confession time - OK so I did think about getting the 180bhp Skoda Octavia myself but that was before I tried the IS200...)
  4. I know you said you change your cars frequently but that's some list! (I've had 5 cars in 14 years - I just don't compete!)
  5. How much are...? stainless scuff plates sport pedals exhaust trim Sometime I'd like to make my motor even more silvery unless the price is silly.
  6. Nor me. My car only looks blue when its next to something very... blue... being rather...silver...
  7. We'll probably be visiting family as it's the easter weekend...:(
  8. I've a sony 10 disc changer that I'd sell for £90. I'd only had it a few months before I removed it from my Vauxhall - cost me £180 new. Only thing is I guess you'd need a sony head unit with cd changer controls to make use of it.
  9. yes probably slower but smoooooother and you should be visiting mr dealer a lot less. plus when you do they'll treat you with a bit more respect than the vauxhall boys. I had a Cavalier 2.0i 16v CDX (135 bhp) which was a bit slower than the IS200 and had things like the fuel tank rusting through by the time it was 4 years old etc etc. Generally it cost me 1000-2000 each year in maintenance so in the end the IS200 won't be any more expensive and it's certainly nicer to drive. I've gone for an S cause I valued low mileage (18000 and just under 2yr old) etc over toys (for once - all the vauxhall's I've had have been hi-spec, hi-miles and I've paid for it in reliability.) Having owned it for a few months I might have gone for an SE given a second chance though - I like the look of the 17-inch wheels although the 16-inch ones seem to stay a lot cleaner (cause of less space between the spokes?).
  10. I need to lose weight and tone up some muscles without changing what I eat or exercising. :D (Seriously after a 15 year break doing any activity I've taken up badminton twice a week and I do feel better for it. Just need to eat a few less choccy bars too.)
  11. Ouch - what a name. That's hardly going to help them promote brand image! Our US guys are the same with job titles - we have Vice President of Sales etc then there are Senior Vice Presidents of Stuff, Executive Vice Presidents of Stuff and Senior Executive Vice Presidents of Stuff. Next... I'm More Senior Than You Executive Vice Presidents? They all have to have their own offices too (what-ever grade) which means that no-one talks to anybody.
  12. My dad had a Triumph Acclaim Triomatic (sort of half automatic), had few problems with it and sold it after two years for the same that he bought it for. It was completely gutless though especially with that gearbox. I remember he also got it up to 95 once and something broke. :D [Edited on 8-2-2002 by javadude]
  13. Worst car owned: Mark II Escort. It pulled to one side and was erratic under breaking, I ripped one front wing on a concrete post, I had to get a new engine when the piston rings went and I often had to get other students in my hall to push start it. (Finally took it to a garage and the mechanic showed me a sticky black ring and said - that was an air filter once...) When I first bought it the back seat was loose so I bolted it down but not well enough. First time I drove it with a couple of mates in the back and braked hard they and the seat flew forward into a heap behind me. :D Had a nice gear change though. I never found a gear change to match it until the IS200. Worst cars driven but not owned: Talbot Horizon. Huge gear lever and it was a lottery which gear it ended up in. Vauxhall Corsa - Vauxhall dealer's courtesy car. Appalling handling, no brakes, no engine, awful steering and you kill your back reaching for the seat belt. What is that woman in the TV advert on about?! If you drove a corsa like she suggests you'd be in a ditch. [Edited on 6-2-2002 by javadude]
  14. From an earlier thread I don't think many team lexus members have an IS300
  15. Try the salesman that sold you the car. Mine said when I bought it that if I needed any accessories to get back to him. I phoned three months later to enquire about roof bars and he said again, without me asking that he'd get me a discount. When I picked them up he'd knocked a good amount off. Oh - and I got my mats thrown in when I bought the car, plus a service though it still had 2000 miles to go to the next one. Perhaps I just have a good dealer... [Edited on 5-2-2002 by javadude]
  16. My old 16v cavalier was meant to be about 9.5 secs too but the lexus is definitely a bit faster. Perhaps the figures were wrong for the vauxhall though! Remember the IS200 is a bit heavy - thanks to the solid build and old iron block engine. That will slow it a bit. The S is lighter than the Sport and SE so should be marginally quicker in a straight line but I guess the better grip from the wider wheels on the SE and Sport plus limited slip on the Sport should make them quicker in real motoring. What does anyone else think?
  17. Oh, and I also lead a non-denominational Christian church in Reading as one of a team of three elders. (I don't get paid for that though.)
  18. must be tuning lexus cars for MI6. Can I have mine with an ejector seat, please?
  19. Thanks - makes a nice change from the IS200 saver (which I've had at home and work for weeks - definitely the best screen saver ever - sorry ;) )
  20. Sorry! If I ever get round to learning it I'll let you know.
  21. I've not done any PHP yet. A little ASP a while back. Most server side stuff I do is Java servlets. (Our main application has an applet for the front end, custom HTTP transfers with a servlet and then a load of services for data services and logic.) I've done a bit of HTML and javascript too. Here are a couple of pretty basic examples - http://www.chris.lack.org and http://www.grovelands.org [Edited on 3-2-2002 by javadude] [Edited on 3-2-2002 by javadude]
  22. Java Developer for Artemis International Solutions Corporation Limited (stupid name thought up by americans - can anyone beat that for length?!) in Slough.
