  1. Lexus is also starting to stand out from the crowd by not having a battery electric vehicle. I find that sad and means that my next vehicle is likely to be not a Lexus (and I'm on my 4th). Many of their competitors either have one available to purchase now or in the near future. Nissan and Tesla have had EVs available for 7-8 years. I don't think I'd class Lexus as leading the way any more. More like falling further and further behind.
  2. What bugs me (I have a pre-2018 facelift Premier) is having to wait several minutes after starting the car before I can select music either via manually browsing or voice commands. Ok so I have about 5000 tracks in folders by artist then album but is the processor really that slow? The usb drive just stays plugged in. I rarely add new music.
  3. Nice to see they featured the Lexus "bong" sound. Shame mine doesn't fly. It doesn't even go fast.
  4. Yup, same for Android and iPhone but works better on Android cause iPhone is rubbish (I have an iPhone 8 after years of Android ownership and have used both with my NX). On Android it'll show all text messages not just those received while connected. Get a text message while getting into the car and switching on the ignition with an iPhone and it won't show up on the car. With Android you can select a reply from a menu, eg "I'm driving, I'll arrive in x minutes" with the x replaced by the time from the sat nav. Apple's bluetooth API doesn't allow sending of messages so this isn't enabled for iPhone. On my Android I could set up the car as a trusted device so my wife could use my phone without unlocking. iPhone doesn't have trusted devices/places. etc. At least it fits the pre-facelift charging tray...
  5. I switched it on when my car was collected to be taken to a bodyshop so I could see if they took any detours. Also reset the MPG to see how they drove it. I normally get 37-40 mpg. If I drive it hard I can get low 30s. They somehow managed to get 25 mpg over a mix of urban and motorway 😮
  6. 😮I think I'll check mine and see if I can get a LC 500 too.
  7. Very wise. I had a wickes articulated lorry hit my RX400h in their carpark. Smashed the rear window and bent the tailgate.
  8. Not really, although mine is Sonic Titanium. Mine has a few small stone chips on the bonnet and front bumper but less than I'd expect at 3 years old.
  9. It's perhaps an academic question as Lexus don't seem in a hurry to build one ("early 2020s" was mentioned in one news article) and by the time they have the competition will be way ahead: eg https://www.pocket-lint.com/cars/news/140845-future-cars-and-upcoming-electronic-cars-of-the-future-coming-soon
  10. Under the settings somewhere you can switch summer on or off. From the label not mentioning the clock it sounds like it should also change the weather... A couple of weeks ago I remembered to change the clock on the NX sat nav to summer. You don't want to rush things...
  11. I went from an RX400h to a NX300h. As the new RX's are larger the NX is actually similar in size to the RX400h. Length and width are very similar. Height is slightly less. The figures I've seen suggest the boot capacity is bigger on the NX. It doesn't look it in real life so I don't believe the figures although the wheel arches intrude less at least. It feels similar size inside while driving although the centre console seems higher and doesn't move so it feels a like it cocoons you a bit more. I've found the ride and seat on the NX slightly harder (and I have a Premium not an F Sport). I do find the adaptive cruise control makes a huge difference to making driving more relaxing though. My RX would do 28-31mpg. This does 37-40mpg. CO2 is lower so tax for my 15 plate is £110 instead of £270 for the RX. Insurance was about the same. However it feels pretty slow in comparison. Figures are 9.5s to 60 instead of 7.6s but it also feels like it's trying hard when you push it. The RX was effortless, the NX is just loud and revy when pushed. Around town up to 40 in sport mode its pretty nippy and there's not much between them but over 40 and you realise the RX is in a different league. I do love the NX. With the Premier I have a shed load of toys, the styling inside and out is great. I like the better fuel economy of the NX and greener credentials but I do miss the engine in the RX. It's a pity that 10 years on Lexus couldn't manage green and fast. Someone rear-ended the NX a week ago and I've had a base spec(?) manual diesel 318 as a loan car. I've missed the quiet, smooth comfort of my NX so much.
  12. Thanks. Shame. Odd to have the newer models remove good stuff from the older ones. (And I still can't get over why they removed the best bit of nx styling on the facelift: the sharp contours at the sides of the front bumper. Oh well, my next car will be electric so at the moment that means it doesn't look like it'll be a Lexus anyway.)
  13. I'd be interested to know too. On my old RX400h it would recognise the voice command "Suspend Guidance" but a decade on and they've removed this functionality from the NX. I go to the sat nav menu and then select suspend guidance there which might be slightly easier than deleting the destination but still not hands free.
  14. The description of the options is rather confusing. Needs a table to explain what you get with each, what is standard on each trim level etc. I guess that will come in time.
  15. I've noticed it too but only in certain lighting(?) conditions. I guess it's nothing to worry about.
  16. My daughter's considering the same dashcam. How's it been? Would you still recommend it?
  17. It does make me wonder if self driving cars won't work in the rain.... which won't be much use in the UK.
  18. With my iPhone it will show texts received while connected, but not any received before/during getting in the car. Also you can't use the pre-written reply feature, eg "I will arrive in x minutes" (with x populated by the sat nav). I believe that they are restrictions in the API provided by Apple. (Having moved from Android I've found this any many other failings of iPhone surprising and depressing given how highly some people rate iPhones. I only got it as the iPhone 8 is the only modern phone which will fit in the small pre-facelift Qi charging tray.)
  19. Wow, but it so smooth and quiet compared to the NX. Rev the NX and you just get this embarrasing loud revving sound and no action. My daughter's Peugot 106 sounds better revved.
  20. Got an IS300h as a courtesy car today. Smoother ride than my NX (not F Sport and has Mitchelin Cross Climate tyres). Also big reminder of how awful the NX engine is. The (also) 2.5 litre engine in the IS is much smoother (being a V6), quieter, faster and more economic (although that might be in part to the different body shape etc). Wishing I didn't need the practicality of the NX luggage space.
  21. Thanks. Some good suggestions to try. Will probably start with the toothbrush. Maybe not my current one though....
