  1. well done fella, i'm sure you will love your new purchase :P
  2. Here's the link to the news article........ IS-F police car Look forward to seeing it chasing twoc'ers around my home town :D
  3. Can't speak for the old Mazda6 MPS, but have you actually driven a new Mazda 6 ? Sorry but you are way off the mark with your comment 'different league', having driven driven both Mazda and Lexus i can honestly say there's very little difference in build quality and ride. The only real difference is the value for money you get with Mazda compared to the expensive Lexus.
  4. Grom Audio make a hard wired connection that plugs straight into the back of the headunit. Try googling Grom Audio, they also sell on fleebay.
  5. Really sorry to hear this buddy, any news on the severity of the damage yet?
  6. Sold my cherished wheels after 3 years of faultless ownership. I loved my IS but it just got to the stage were it was not practical enough for my favourite hobby...........fishing. The one thing that let the IS down in my experience is the lack of boot space and the fact that the back seats do not fold down. After much deliberation i decided it was time for a change..........but to what??? Well, after much research on the net i narrowed it down to a short list - Toyota Rav4 Mitsubishi Outlander Nissan Quasqui Lexus RX300 / 350 I went to the above dealers and test drove them all. All vehicles ticked the relevant boxes in terms of practicality however, the Toyota and Nissan were nice to drive but i just wasn't inspired to buy. The Outlander was just too huge and the RX was probably top of the pile but just not value for money in my opinion. To cut a long story short..............I've just placed an order for one these................. Had to place a factory order because there was none in the country of the spec and colour i wanted. Got a good price thru an internet broker, -£3.6K off list. Spec - 2.5 petrol Sport with all the toys in Crystal Pearl White Mica like the one above. When i test drove one at my local dealers, not only did it tick the 'boxes' but it actually blew me away. The level of comfort / refinement / toys and performance just blew all the others out the water. In terms of VFM, if i spec'd up the equivalent German marque with the same level of toys you would be looking at £30k + Only down side is i've got a 10 week wait for it to be delivered. I would like to thank this forum and all the members that i've met and helped me over the last 3 years. LOC really is up there with the best of owners club forums. (the Mazda 6 forum looks pants in comparison). I'll still be hanging around here for a long time to come cos it's just a great community to belong too. I'm missing the IS like crazy, I'm sure it has gone to a good home (bought by a fellow LOC member), but it's time to move on to the next chapter.
  7. It was a pleasure to deal with you Kev, and i'm pleased she's going to a good home and hopefully a new owner that will look after it like i did. Will still be lurking around on LOC, it's a great forum and it's members have been friendly and a great help over the years. Still not decided on what i'll be getting as a replacement, something a bit more accomodating of all my fishing gear! On to the next chapter............. :winky:
  8. Saw something similar myself about 4 weeks ago in while browsing Autotrader - 55 plate BMW M5 with 30,000 on the clock, private seller..........£18,950. I believe these retail in excess of £55k. Lots of pictures and service history in the detail. I thought there must be catch so called the mobile number, this irrate Geordie answered and said 'Ah bo**ocks man, not another one'. Turns out somone has put his mobile number as the contact and he knows nothing about the car. So not sure if he'd pi**ed somone off or was a genuine mistake.
  9. It starts with a sore throat..............Wife started feeling a bit rough last week, probably picked it up at the local nursery where she works. Then she passed it on to my 2 year son. He started with a cough, cold and temp, plus the 'runs' big style, which is interesting as we've just toilet trained him! He then passed it on to me but i think the virus has mutated itself into something far more sinister like 'man flu'. Came home from work today to find my son throwing up everywhere........all 3 of us feel rotten. Even the cat is looking off colour and feeling sorry for himself! :yack: Can't really take the time off work as i'm in the middle of a 5S training coarse, so 12 hours of classroom tomorrow.....Then 2 night shifts at the weekend.......yipee!! As i'm writing this from my sick-bed, just wondered if there was many others like us? On a +ve the Lex is running sweet.
  10. I would leave it a couple of weeks for the paint to harden b4 i put any polish or waxes on it.
  11. I have the TTE rear lip and TRD front with TRD skirts, looks the dogs. The TRD front lip goes well with the skirts as the follow the same line each side of the front wheel arch. The TTE rear lip looks better than the TRD IMO, just down to taste i suppose. I would say if you plan on having side skirts get the TRD front lip.
  12. The broker is 'Motor Direct' give them a try, nothing to lose. I recieved all the docs in the post today - I was a bit puzzled as to what the actual cost of the premium was. The brokers document said £270 but the underwriters policy docs had £320 on them. So i called them to double check what i had paid. They confirmed it was £270 and said the reason for the difference was that they actually made a loss on my buisness! This i find a bit strange........are they that desperate for my buisness they take a loss? Seems some companies actually do this to get you on their books. I'll probably find the premium goes up next year to recover this. Then i'll be in the same boat of hunting for the cheapest quote again. My postcode is HU which ranked in the top 3 of highest risk for insurers so i'm please i've kept it down to a reasonable price. Good luck with the hunting Wozza............
  13. Got me renewal thru from A-Plan who i'd been with for 2 years, premium had increased by £40 which i wasn't too pleased about cos i've made no claims. Gave them a call to ask why and got a generic response about car insurance premiums going up generally. They said they will contact my underwriters Eagle Red Star and try to negotiate a better deal. In the meantime i got a few quotes from internet comparison sites and got it back down to £300. When they phoned back they said they could'nt budge on the price so i told them about the internet quote and they warned me about the perils of using these companies and that i would not get the same standard of cover. I said yeh cheers i'll think about it. Anyway got a follow up call from the company that came out at £300 and they said if i spend 5 mins answering their questions they'll try to better the quote. So after giving them more personal details about my circumstancies they came back with an improved quote of £270. I asked who the underwriters were...........and yes you've guessed it is Eagle Red Star!!!! So i've saved myself £70 quid and stayed with the same company, same cover, just different broker. FYI i'm 38 9 years NCB protected Legal cover and courtesy car included HU postcode fully comp with mods declared Just shows don't accept cheeky increases, it pays to shop around.
