  1. I have searched but can't find any references to VSC issues but coming back from the gym this morning and the car went into what I can only describe as limp home mode (fastest I could go was 25 mph) and warning lights everywhere, with the message 'Check VSC' on the dash display Has anybody else experienced this? I'm waiting for 'Lexus Assist', who am I kidding - the RAC, to come and have a look with a chance the car will need to be recovered! Fiesta hire car here I come!!
  2. I've now got a quote from Lexus Coventry for the roof bars, £165 The search continues
  3. That's exactly my thought - the Thule ones are expensive enough (feet £50, bars £35 and adapter kit for feet £25) - I've then got to get a roof box as well There must be another supplier rather than just Thule - I'm going to end up spending £300 at this rate!
  4. Hi, I've had a search but can't find anything, has anyone got a aset of roof bars yet for the 250/220? I have searched loads of sites on t'internet and on here but can't find anything specific to order. It's getting urgent as I really need them by the end of next week. Thanks in advance, Rich.
  5. I have just posted this in the IS200 forum in a post about alignment and tyre wear. When my car was in for its 20k service they pointed out increased wear on the inner and outer edges of the tyres, very similar to the problems highlighted on the IS200. May be another load of work coming to WIM in the near future but keep an eye on the insides especially as you may think everything is fine when the inner edge is worn through. This is part of my service report.
  6. This just reminded me of something... When my 220 was in for service last week they highlighted increased tyre wear on the inner and outer edges of the tyres funnily enough Has anyone taken a 220/250 in yet to be checked over? Might be something to keep an eye on for the high motorway miles guys as you may not notice the extraordinary wear on the inner edges...
  7. Everyone is voting for third! Probably 'cos it can do most speeds we are allowed to do. In a 220d, 3rd can get you from 30 to 95 in one big push
  8. I think the point is to compare like for like, the Lexus will be quicker against a small car with a little engine but that's a bit like saying you can drive faster than I can run so you're quicker Comparing similar size or target models (lower end 3 series, higher end Mondeo etc)then they could be fairly considered in the slower end of the scale. The point is having one and feeling good about it, if you want speed then it'd need to be S/C or Turbo, IS300 or a 'tezza.
  9. I'm not doing too bad at the moment, averaging around 38/39 with pretty much all urban driving with longest trip being 7 miles. On a run I can get 44/45 if I go steady at say 80 but 85/90 on cruise can drop this to 41, both in 6th. All on private circuits and certainly not trundling down the M40 to London :winky: I'm on 21.5k miles and had the second service a couple of weeks ago, didn't notice a lot of change post service as the step change in consumption happended around 15,000 miles but it never went into the dealer between services. :duh: so it is confusing. All of this is on Tesco fuel as well and I'm sure I remember previous topics covering the benefits of using 'branded' fuel so I'll do a test tomorrow night as I've got to drive to Leicester to off load the kids with my folks so I'll fill up with BP/Shell and see what I can do on the M69 at a realistic cruising speed.
  10. I was at a bash near there the other week and I stayed at The Park Lane Hotel, very nice and not too pricey (about £180 a night). A bit cheaper is the Park Lane Hilton, and if that's a bit too much go to the Thistle Marble Arch, not a bad place and under £100 I seem to remember - good bar as well.
  11. It's the audi double clutch gearbox ...which is like an auto with paddle shift if needed. A bit clunky when slow but awaseome when giving it some, seems to anticipate every gear change B) and improves speed and average mpg at the same time strangely :D EDIT - Lee, beat me to it!
  12. As everyone else, R32 every time. Quality and speed in spades, if you really need more boot space then the MPS but they are a bit plasticky inside and don't have anywhere near the kudos or feel-good factor of the R!
  13. I've just had a parrot one fitted to my car (not sure who makes the MM one in the IS) but to get it to sync the phonebook I had to donwload some software onto the phone to transfer the phonebook - once it was paired you turned the kit/car off, start the software on the phone and then turn the car/kit on again and when connected the phonebook immediately dumped into the kit. Might be worth a try in the MM system. The software was the this. Choose your variant and get it to your phone somehow :)
  14. Apart from the obvious of not racing etc the IS200 as standard is not a fast car by any stretch so I wouldn't go drag racing up the strip, you'll probably be neck and neck with the A4 as the stats are very similar. Best to cruise and listen to the nice soundtrack as you could end up being a bit is you start baiting people to race, most things you'll meet up with will be as fast or faster unless they are crappy chav mobiles with bodykits.
  15. I'm sure that was a standard colour for some time, may not be a spray job :)
  16. Jamboo, Been meaning to ask, I never needed the injector work but noticed the other day you mentioned a remap? Is this the aftermarket one that was discussed last year or have the dealers got a new version of the software? As I've had such a dramatic jump in consumption maybe mine was done when it was serviced but is there anyway to check? Cheers, Rich.
  17. What condition are the wheels? If the ones from the next gen IS will fit we could do a swap B) as I have the basic 220 with 16's on it. Anybody got a photoshop of the new IS with the old style 17's on it to see what it would look like??
  18. How big are the cats where you live? Looking at the damage they must be real scary..
  19. I'm. Lost. For. Words. Engines are different hence 4 cylinders vs 6. Is200 is a low(er) powered car with the straight 6 for smoothness and to tick a box against a 3 series, power always being a major flaw. Altezza more performance orientated More cylinders doesn't always equal more power, nor does displacement.
  20. Can you assure all of us as I was not aware of a metallic black, even the Lexus site does not have it and only the previous flat black colour. Lexus Site What is the name of it?
  21. Havng the paint damaged is a real pain but if it had come in through the windscreen it could have been something else altogether
  22. I reckon that's a Parrott 3200 car kit front? What do I win? :D
  23. There isn't a Parrott-Lexus one by the looks of it, this one may work Parrott/Toyota Adapter I'm having one fitted next Thursday, let me know if you want me to speak to the fitter before then to see what he knows about the IS200 adapters. Rich.
  24. Mine is the same but I haven't had the new set of injectors though. When new it struggled below 80 in 6th and now is much more usable, the vibration has gone and the fuel consumption is vastly improved - couldn't get above 36mpg when new and now rarely dips below 40 as a tank average with well over half of my driving being short trips. I am currently sat in Lexus Coventry however whilst the car has its 20k service - be interesting to see if this changes anything
