  1. Agreed, I have these fitted on mine Cheers guys, will look into it. They look simple enough to fit, any pitfalls I should be wary of? :D :D :D I might look into that, or even the kind of bumpers you get on a dodgem car!
  2. Guys, I've been a very nice husband and bought my wife a new car this weekend, got it on Saturday and very pleased. Apols for pic, taken on my phone. Megane CC 1.6 Dynamique - Cruise, Speed limiter, climate, 17's BUT foolishly didn't spec reverse sensors :o Now, with hindsight I should have ticked the box so need to rectify this asap. What options do I have for retrofitting these? I've seen them in Halfrauds for £200 and on ebay from anywhere around £30 and up with all sorts of crazy displays. All I need is a basic 4 sensor set up with beeper and hopefully able to colour code to the bumpers. Has anyone retrofitted these or got any suggestions? Shame I can't get them to protect the alloys as well Thanks, Rich.
  3. The 2.2 is terrible, the newer 1.9's are much better. I've gone from Lexus IS200 to Saab 9-3 Aero and then back to Lexus, Saab was good enough, very comfy and good at cruising but I didn't notice a huge drop in space compared to the 220. Reliability was the biggest plus for me, the Saab was truly shocking with pretty much the whole car being replaced bit by bit (some pieces two or three times). Now back to trouble free and loving it. With the amount of Saab's that are running around as well since they started offering it at good prices(my first was a '52 so rare but was given a new one on '03 by Saab as the first was so crap ) I'm glad to be back in something a bit rarer
  4. I don't think you could call comments on a gear that only works on the cusp of sparking the interest of plod on the motorway a moan, in the sport it works from around 60 and it should do the same in the standard geared model. Although 5th is only really like 6th in most cars, I'd rather not do long dual carriage way trips in this gear. It's odd at first but only takes a few miles to adapt your driving style I admit. For the mpg, I was at 35 ish for the first 5k but mine is now on 20k miles and even with 80% short trips I'm averaging 39 with long trips moving me up to 44 ish. Looks like the engine needs a lot of running in, this is the same with the mirror - it no longer vibrates with the engine resonance but only the bass on the stereo which I have to admit is rarely below 40 on the volume :winky:
  5. After hearing so many horror stories I'd check the mileage, 29k over 8 years isn't a lot. Not sure how you can with lack of history in this country but normal signs of wear and tear may prove it's real or not. I know someone who had an Audi Coupe a few years back (about 8), it was his pride and joy and paid top dollar for it. When it came to sell he thought he'd be clever and told everyone how he was going to clock it to improve it's attractiveness to buyers. WHen he did it he found on the back of the clocks was a sticker saying 'Oh no, not again' :D :D :D
  6. I think it's a problem that goes away with time, mine used to vibrate a lot from the engine but now it only shakes if the stereo is turned up loud and the sub is kicking in B) . The engines seem to take a lot of time to settle in, mine is still getting smoother and it's done 16k now!
  7. And me :D , came yesterday - had forgotten all about it!
  8. I've just got to work in my 220d, it's just as bad as my old IS200. Took me an hour to do 6 miles and struggled up the smallest of slopes. What a laugh!
  9. You're going to struggle on a 12 month £30 plan to get one for free, they are still v new. I found various offers, it's free on £45/month with '3', it's £10 on an o2 18 month contract for £35, and it's £50 on a 12 month, £35 tarriff on Orange (I can get you 10% off that a month though :winky: ) Why not try a W850i and get a bigger memory stick? They go up to 4gb now.
  10. Wouldn't it be cheaper to simply install a dado rail along the car? Could even stain/varnish to compliment the car colour :P Got to say, those add ons are awful. One looks like cable trunking from an office!
  11. I'll give them a call and find out (joys of company cars, sign on the line and walk off ) Was less than 2 hours though with a full wash and if I remember it's more of a 'check' rather then replace so shouldn't be that big.....he says hopefully :P
  12. What are the graphics like on the Wii? All of the ads on the telly seem to make it look a bit blocky and low res... :duh:
  13. I can't vouch for the seller but with the Extreme kit shown in Link 2 you'll need some VERY big wheels to carry that off. I'm guessing in the pic they are 18's and they look puny against the side skirts and valances
  14. We've got loads here too, had a few 'moments' this morning on the way to the gym at 6.15 and have just skidded along the single track roads to work :D Wish the stability control would disengage fully though, would have been loads of fun :P
  15. It proves that money can't buy you taste... Ssangyong Musso TDI - I'm sure it doesn't look out of place at all with the Mercs, Rollers etc
  16. He must have got to Lexus and realised there was no point in looking any further :P :P
  17. I used to be at a 34 average and it just keeps getting higher with the mileage. You need a good run though as if you reset on a hilly section it'll look dreadful. I'd give it 20 miles to get a good indications of where it's at - have to say though, 70 in 6th is labouring in mine, I only use it from just under 80 which is when the engine moves into it's power/torque range
  18. I was going to push for the injector change on mine but may not bother now, mine was delivered April last year so I'm sure it's the earlier build with the 'old' injector set. However, if Downsouth is getting 38mpg after the fix then I'd be worse off. I have just done home - East Grinstead - back again and including town, a few jams on the M25 and cruising at 80-85 I have averaged 44.9 over the entire journey of 225 miles! This beats my previous best by nearly 5mpg so not sure what has changed, I'm on 15k miles so between services, it was on Tesco fuel and the AC was on all the time. B)
  19. I think it looks very good and as long as the engine has enough torque, and the gearing is right it'll be fantastic. A good boost for the marque as long as Lexus don't just keep shoe-horning bigger and bigger engines with no real need such as AMG keep doing, they do seem a bit pointless. I think I read in EVO that they do something like 8 engines with over 500bhp now, available in most models as well :duh: Have to say, the quad pipes look like a set up on a kids Corsa near where I live - not the best piece of design IMO.
  20. Auto locking is only availble on US spec cars AFAIK, been asked on here many times and is a bit of missed opportunity not allowing us to have it.
  21. The footwell lighting will stay on when driving but only at a reduced level which is good if your a passenger but a bit pointless if your driving unless you struggle to find the pedals :duh: . When you put the handbrake on the lights should go to full brightness :)
  22. Ever thought of a change in career at your current employer :winky: , there are plenty on the boards at the moment.. Do you know anything about Supply Chain or have worked in a commercial mgt role before??
  23. Happy New Year one and all, hope the weather doesn't mess up anyones plans - it's horrendous here at the moment but going to a house party so no need to go outside :D Be interesting to see who's on first in the morning - and I don't mean 12.01 either :duh:
  24. I was at the one with Jonny Vegas when they tested the 3.2 TT, brilliant day but most of the Vegas interview was cut unfortunately - it'd need an 18 cert :D
