  1. Picked mine up as a 26th Bday present, so actually 25 when driving it out of the dealer. I agree on the earlier posts on the woodinlay, exactly why I choose the Sport in stead of the Executive. Hid's, 18" etc etc just no wood for my IS please :) Wood belongs in a GS/LS in my oppinion, the IS looks and feels to "sporty" for that.
  2. I had something similar happen to me, with my lex being barely 2 months old. Took some mates of mine to a concert in Amsterdam (full of confidence aren't we ;) and planned a route to a parking garage nearby the Melkweg. Hotdamn that parking garage was oldschool and made for Suzuki Salto's, really tight entry/exit not to mention the spots themselves. Found a spot, at the end of a lane, next to a wall and a Beemer 530i. Asked the passengers to leave the car cause I wanted to park it as close to the wall as possible. After 4 attempts it stood, but not with total confidence :s Returning after the gig, I found the beemer had left and I was sure it was a leaser so I'd have a nice striping from the front to the back in the 530's colour. Nothing to be found! Really ace of him not to thumb mine cause Im sure he had to make some nasty moves to come out of his spot :)
  3. Dark Granite on the outside and Grey leather on the inside (godlike in the sportversion without the wood)
  4. Can only think of two things I "truly" hate about the car... 1: the rattles, although minimised by my dealer one still remains (which turned into a tab rather than a rattle) 2: my alarm... The chief mechanic told me it's a major bug in the alarmsystem they put in the car in the Netherlands that once you close the doors BEFORE turning the ignition on, the alarm goes of with a "hood open warning" once you drive ~5mtrs. It should get fixed as soon as my Lex goes for its first full service run and I must say I learned the order in which to close the doors these days :winky: But to be serious, there are a multitude of pro's compared to the con's... The points above are not even "hates" but more dislikes... As well as another poster pointed out, I can't understand that they designed this car that when it rains... and you open a door, that water comes poring in... major designflaw in my book. The rest is still priceless... design (ex and interior) the sound of the engine and revvingspecs, gadgets, sexappeal, etc, etc,
  5. Your very welcome :D I accidentaly made her shut it by speaking a dutch command to the english voice recognition. Somehow the system recognised it as an official command :) Looking it up in the menu in the car I found out it could (thank *** for that) be turned off/on manually.
  6. Very good alternative is Dark Granite imho. Mine is that colour and even filthy it still looks reasonably good. The con is that you will need it to have matellic paint or it will look kinda crap (wich in Holland cost an additional ~1200,- euros)
  7. Same happened to me recently, only I wanted her to shut it ;) Think you need to go to the "Menu" section, and then "Settings". I believe the 2nd page there has the option to engage or disengage the voice support for the satnav. If not, than the post above goes... buy flowers ;)
  8. Got my IS250Sport back in April. Rattlefree but my alarm still has it's own life (now definately narrowed down to the "close-doors" button). At least it does'nt go off in the middle of the night anymore The rest is an absolute joy. Its comfy yet sporty, stylish but not too posh. And after more then 3 months still a rubbernecker. The only rattle I get is from stuff I put into the car (lifehammer, CD-jewelcases, etc). Fuel economy is more then I hoped for... 10.9L/100Km (1:9) which with my drivingstyle is not bad at all! Must comply with earlier replies, this must be the best car I've ever driven and am absolutly very happy with it.
  9. Was 25 when I got my Lex, turned 26 the next week (lovely Bday present innit? :winky: ) First Lex for me, but by the looks of it not my last
  10. Aye... that did the trick! Must say the responses in this topic reminds me of Beemers (especially diesels) I encounter. After leaving a fog of war and allmost no accaleration (love those 318d's) I do get angry eyes instead of "V's" or fingers. Amusing non the less :D Wierd thing is that only IS drivers flash and wave, RX drivers (which are numerous around here) usually smell the front of their windscreen and mind their own business. Must be a Dutch thing indeed then... :winky: Thanks!
  11. It's been over two months now that I drive my lovely 2nd Gen IS, and loving every minute of it... And it's an attractive car... If I got a euro for every person that "rubbernecked" me in these 60 days, I'd have three IS'es by now! :winky: Now comes my point. I've seen motorcyclists wave to each other while they see each other on the road. Even if the other cyclist is a complete stranger, a single hand/wave/finger goes up as a greet. This happens to me all the time by Lexus drivers. 9/10 times I encounter an IS (a 1st or 2nd gen) I get a wave or a greeting finger (not the censored one! B) ). I'm starting to get the feeling I'm missing out on some groundrules/etiquette in Lexusland. Anyone noticed this waving going on? Or is it just down here below sealevel? :) Greetz!
  12. I asked the excact same thing when I bought My IS250. I don't know the prices in Sterling or USD, but in Euro's it was mindboggling. Just to "get it over here" from the states would cost you 70 to 80k's. And that's without the profit the exporter and importer would add. This is inclusive taxes (BPM and BTW in holland). If you ask me if the IS250 is too slow? maybe so but dont fetch a 350 but wait for the 500. It will come since Lexus wants to wipe Audi and BMW of the charts. Well, they've got my vote! B)
  13. Got it back today! Seems there were powersurges (or losses) just behind the ignition (can't really find the correct english word). They did some limited rewiring/fuse adaption and were able to fix the problem. They didn't know if it was related to the "close-doors" button on the inside, could be. First 2nd gen IS they got back with issues, I just hope it stays that way. ;) Service was excellent, two thumbs up for Louwman Eindhoven! B) Hope it helps... Thanks.
  14. Got a bank holliday weekend coming up and am schedualled at the dealer for tuesday. I told them to keep it untill the problem is fixed since it's kinda embarassing. As for the alarm going off for 30 seconds.... very true. And after those 30 secs, the warning remains and the symphony starts again. Will keep you all posted and thanks for the feedback!
  15. Nope, just keeps on going and going till the car is locked/ignition off. Been thinking of the faulty sensor as well but I can't understand why it would go off while driving (when the alarm is supposed to be off).
  16. Lo all... Got a very confusing but mostly frustrating problem with my IS250 Sport. After having it for a week the class III alarm (wich is built in by Lexus) starts living its own life. Firts time it went off while I drove on a roundabout, joined by a dash "Hood open" warning. Stopping the car, turning off the ignition and closing the car stopped the alarm. But that was after 5 minutes of an embarrasing drive. My IS was silent for two weeks after that, when suddenly it decided to wake me up on a thursday at 4.30 in the bloody morning, for no reason whatsoever! Unlocking the car by remote and locking it again fixed it up. Two weeks after this happening, I got both of them on my head. During a lovely drive the "Hood open" warning (accompanied by my lovely class III alarm) popped up again, forcing me to stop the car, close it and go off again. That same night my parked IS went off for no reason (again) this time at a lovely time of 6 in the morning! I allready got some strange looking neighbours before the alarm went bonkers, but nowadays they are starting to hate the car for its lovely concerts during the early hours! And I must say, it is'nt doing me any good either! Lexus Eindhoven is aware of my problem but have'nt contacted me today about a lonecar I could use. I visited them past wednesday about this issue and they changed the settings of the sensors. So far the alarm did'nt go off while parked, but my "Hood open" symphony popped back up last friday. NOTE: It appears my "Hood open" warning/alarm is triggered when I use the "close-doors" button from the inside. Might be related but then again I'm no rocketscientist... Anybody have any of these problems or heared from someone who has? Thanks in advance!
  17. Cheers, that was just what I needed to know. Thanks for the effort Bee :)
  18. Hey guys and girls... My first post here and I tried to search the forums for my question but couldn't find it in here, so here goes. (perhaps it's in there somewhere but I really couldn't find it) Two weeks ago I got my IS250Sport, which for me as a 25 year old was euforic! I also got the Mark Levinson Multimedia system but the damn thing won't swallow my MP3/WMA DVD's. I tried +R and -R's on different burnmethods, but it just won't go. The CD-ROM's on the other hand, go without any fuss at all! During the past years I build up a nice collection of MP3's (which are mostly from my original CD rack @ home) but in stead of taking 40 CD's in my car, I was rejoiced to find out the system could play MP3 DVD's. No go here so far Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks in advance! :) Lex PS: Before you get the impression that I'm whining over the car... I'm not! This is the best thing I ever drove and I'm loving every kilometer in it!
