  1. Bought a new IS250 recently. My wife is claiming that I now pay more attention to this website than to her. Then when she realised just how many postings there were she announced that there was obviously a large number of other lexus owners with lives as sad as mine!! Anyone else getting a hard time?? Is this gender linked or do we have lots of female post people? Perhaps not - I remember a review from JC who claimed his wife was scornful of the IS. PS I love my car and can handle the flak from home. TSS
  2. I used autoebid in May to buy an IS250SE and expect the car in 2 days from London. The price was 10%+ below list which was much better than drivethedeal etc or the local dealers. Indeed the second hand car prices were higher although I had not tried haggling. I note that drivethedeal prices are much closer now and are guaranteed. Autoebid tries to get a best price but it depends on Lexus dealers making a bid.I was sceptical at first. Glad I stayed with it. TomSS
  3. The original deal saw Lexus take my slightly scrached and minor dented 43000mile 51/02 Black IS200 Sport for a pretty good px (Mid Book Price)and got about 4% off the price of a new 250SEL MM. So i think i managed to get an ok deal. The £1200.00 is the upgrade price from 17 to 18" only you dont get to keep the 17"s aswell One thing to note is, on the Lexus web page, pre-owned vehicles section there are 06 cars the same spec as i have ordered (different colours) for sale with between 4k and 7k on the clock for £1500 more than i will pay for mine new when it eventually arrives. That is a premium of about £5000 after you take the VAT off. That has to be the best premium on a UK sold car in the past 5 years. Since the launch of the BMW Mini Those of you with new or nearly new auto IS250SEL's are really sitting pretty. I am NOT prepared to offer the dealer anything for the larger wheels, he should be offering me the deal although we all know thats unlikley to happen. And if i were to want 18's on the car, i like the Hoshi wheels better than the Baransu's which are fitted. Are LEXUS UK deliberatly limiting uk imports to hold up the re-sale value and prevent dealer discounting. Infinatly more annoyed than last Friday......... Hi Infinity, Can you help me with my arithmetic? You said that 06 cars with miles on the clock were dearer by £1500 than your new SEL MM. If you got a 4% discount this must be around £1200. Where am I going wrong?? Did you get a much better discount?? Tom
  4. My IS 250SE is not due until September but i was becoming concerned over the rising number of rattle reports. Emailed Alex at lgb and I quote ' lgb has a robust procedure in place which means we fed back early customer comments to Japan and a production change was made at the factory. Your vehicle due in the Autumn should be unaffected by the interior noise problems.' If rattle reporters stated when they bought their car then a pattern would have emerged to show when the problem was addressed in the factory. Or am I being naive??? And i don't want responses only from cynics!!! TomSS
  5. Thanks to all who posted. Iwas offered a discount of £2,300 on a 250 SE. Local dealers were not close and even drivethedeal was well behind. I had intended to buy a demo but even these were not competitive at 6 months old. I have paid £500 up front but it is to a Lexus dealer so I should have no problems. My concern was 'who will take care of any immediate niggles' as London is a long way south.
  6. I did a lot of surfing to come up with the best deal for my IS250. :D Trouble is the car will come from London and I live in Scotland. If I experience the niggles ( rattles/wind noise etc) as reported regularly can I go to the nearest Lexus or do I have to deal with London?? Since the delivery date is September, perhaps all the niggles will have been cured in manufacture!! :D
  7. Very nearly! I have the Brechin with the beige interior and am very pleased. I think the lighter colours lift the interior and provide a nice contrast. My only concern is how long I'll manage to keep it clean! I've already switched the light-coloured mats for a set of black ones - though I think the grey already has darker mats and footwells? Other than that, it's holding up very nicely to marks and scuffs (though I have bought a bottle of Autoglym Interior Shampoo that works a treat). As for outside, I love the Brechin - in my opinion it's subtle and classy. Easy to keep clean too! Thanks Romaro, I was sure about the Brechin slate looking classy. It was the interior that bothered me. Black seemed dark for a smallish interior and it did not offer the two tone effect on the doors and dashboard. Beige looked good but I read all the queries about keeping it clean. Hence my choice of grey. But I couldn't see that combo!!!
  8. Hi, Does anyone own a brechin slate with grey interior leather? Are you pleased or do you have regrets? I have a few days to reconsider my order and have been unable to see in the flesh. Would appreciate thoughts.
  9. Used to think I was reasonably decisive but it took me 4 test drives to choose between 220d and 250. The reviews were a complete pain as I had waited several months for the diesel to be my first Lexus. I thought it was noisier (outside) than I expected and I was disappointed with the gearing ratios. But the car is gorgeous. So I drove the petrol and loved it. Solved all my problems and as my mileage is lowish there was little fuel cost implications. Cannot believe I have ordered a petrol model after all my waiting. Then came the colour issue. Cadoxton or Brechin. 2 votes for each so I took the casting and went for Brechin. Inside 2 for black and 1 each for grey and beige. I ignored democracy and chose grey. Most of the problem is being unable to see the various combinations. Now I must wait until September for delivery. Lots of time to agonise over my spending spree. Tell me I haven't made one mistake after another.
