  1. What I was hoping to do was get all the factory pipework off the 1G-GZE engine and modify it to suit. Unsure whether there ever was an intercooler with this particular engine but I'll definitely be fitting one. I was thinking that the clutch would be a bonus rather than a negative, the original operated on thottle position or manifold vacuum but if I can make it work with just a switch on the dash... do you see where I'm coming from? Instant power or ecomomy at the flick of a switch would be quite cool. I've been told that I can pick up the supercharger itself here for $200-300, all the associated pipework and ancilliaries shouldn't be much more on top or that. The ECU might pose a problem, unsure if the stock one will get confused by boost or not, guess it probably will though since it seems everyone going the forced induction route is going for the piggyback route. Cheers for your help though, I'll keep everyone posted with my progress or any other information I pick up :-D
  2. Gidday from New Zealand, Absolutely normal for the revs to rise from idleat times. If you put strain on the engine (turn steering wheel, switch air con on, even turn headlights on) the engine management system will automatically compensate by raising the revs slightly. So yeah, don't panic :-) Good luck, hope you don't have any other negative experiences. Cheers, Jeremy
  3. Sorry, a little off topic too... Castrol GTX Magnatec is not fully synthetic, it's only semi-synthetic. Just in case anyone was wondering... Well that's my 2 cents anyway :-D Cheers, Jeremy
  4. Gidday everyone, I've tried asking the New Zealand club about this but haven't got any replies... Has anyone here come across any cheaper options for supercharging an AS/IS200? I did a bit of my own research into various things and found that the 1G engine has a bit of a history and in the late 80's was fitted to a Toyota Crown with a supercharger fitted as standard (1G-GZE). Does anyone know if this has been looked into in the UK? I was thinking that if a good supercharger and all the corresponding pipework could be obtained from a car wreckers it couls probably bolt up without too much drama (assuming it doesn't upset the computer too much and it all fits...) for a fraction of the cost of the TTE unit. Also can anyone tell me what the model code of the TTE supercharger is? If it's the same as the one I'm talking about it'll add some strength to my arguement. Specs are: SC14 85-89+ 1G-GZE length: 311mm/ width: 148mm/ height: 254mm/ weight: 11.9kg/ displacement: 1420cc There should be a pic of it below (pic stolen from another site... sorry!!) Any help would be great, looking forward to your replies. Cheers, Jeremy
