  1. No. It's on a works fleet policy. I thought the same for the first 7 weeks, but I always had that nagging doubt funnily enough about how low it sat more a concern about hitting something going over bumpy terrain. Never thought it would leeK in!
  2. Yes. A big shock. I could hear some water swishing around as I drove away but I assumed that it was just in the chassis and would drain out. The water was nowhere near high enough for the battery I would say and the rear area inside seemed totally dry. I was a bit disappointed water got in on such a new car , in such a short time in water which was really only a few inches deep. If I'd driven in the canal I could have understood it! The damage quoted was the wiring loom? or something like that. I'm not mechanically minded. 10000 plus vat but insurers were worried it might be the tip of the iceberg so have decided to buy me a brand new car. I honestly think it would have just dried out, but I'm obviously happy I'm getting a new one. It would be a good salvage car though for someone to take a bit of a risk on I'd say.
  3. Well, my 8 week old ct200 spent max 15 minutes in a flooded car park, water up to just below half way on the wheels., until I rescued it. A bit of water had found its way inside under the seats. I took it in for what I thought would be a good valet and maybe new carpets. Driving perfectly ok, all electrics appearing fine. I find out on Friday it's an insurance write off! Thank god for insurance who are replacing brand new, like for like. Got to say though it has me worried about driving through any biggish puddles etc if this can happen. I noticed when I took delivery how low the car sits, but I assumed it would be water tight. Be warned!
  4. And to add to this - I notice that the side mirrors dont tilt down now when i reverse which i'm hoping is linked to the same wiring issue EDIT: Mirrors issue solved and not connected - the control switch has to be on left or right to allow revering dipping of mirrors to happen and it was returned from service in the middle
  5. Did you solve this? I have the same problem on an 05 SEL Been flickering on and off for past few weeks but sod's law said when it went for service last week it was fine so they did not investigate the reported problem. Now it seems to have gone completely today A quick search of this forum seems to indicate the solution is a £1200 new camera However it feels for all the world to me that it just a loose wiring connection somewhere around the gear lever. Anyone know where the connection is and whether it is easily accessible? I fear if I take it in now they will say new camera required regardless.
  6. I have a 6 mile round trip to work stuck in traffic most days but the rest of my mileage is a roads and motorways. I tend to average around 23mpg and get about 330 miles to the tank - though I do run the tanks from brimmed to very near empty with a can in the back just in case! Yesterday I experimented. Did a long trip Preston to Ipswich and back - M6 and A14 - BP super plus unleaded - taking it real easy due to poor weather - averaging around 60mph mainly using cruise control and never going over 75. Averaged 32.6 and would have been over 33 but for 30 minutes stuck in traffic in Ipswich. Very nearly did the 510 mile round trip on the full tank - pulled up at sandbach services about 50 miles from home and put 68 and a bit litres in - so still a good 20 miles left in it. Shows what CAN be done!
  7. I have worked out that when the crusing distance gets down to zero and the indicator hits 'R' there is usually at least 8 litres left in the tank and I can go a good 40 miles before needing to refuel. I always refuel right to the top, until I literally cannot get any more in and the most I have put in the rx300 is 71.89 litres after getting 421 miles out of the tank. Just wondered though what the real, as opposed to stated, capacity of the tank is? Perhaps it is the same? On my old Mondeo, the stated capacity was 58 litres but I once put 70.5 litres in.
  8. Thanks for help - now sorted. My phone's battery went completely dead (useless n80) , I replaced it with a new charged one and lo and behold the bluetooth is working fine. So it was a phone problem not a Lexus one after all. The Mute On/Off was a red herring - now it is working i can see that this is a 'switch' as opposed to an indicator of current status. My only clue as to why this might have happened was that I had to switch my phone to silent shortly before it went faulty. Although I switched it back to general (and the phone itself received and made calls fine once away from the bloothtooth range), it somehow confused the cars bluetooth facility.
  9. Do you mean that the 'mute on' touch button is shown or does it show 'mute off'? br D It is showing Mute On and I cannot hear anything. I can change it by touching it to Mute Off, but still cannot hear anything. Next time I dial out, it still reverts to Mute On and nothing can be heard. I'm sure, or at least I hope, that this is going to be a 'DOH' when I find out. I will try someone elses bluetooth today to see if it works with that
  10. I would suggest you delete your existing pairing and re-establish a new one - could be just a quirk ..... Tony Thanks - just tried that but no luck! Still dial out and the Mute On is showing
  11. anyone help me with this? Have been using bluetooth happily since new to me about 6 weeks ago. Suddenly all incoming and outgoing calls are automatically muted, and though i change the screen from Mute on to mute off, it still does not work, and mutes again next time i hear it. phone (nokia n80) works fine outside of car so i am assuming its a car thing not a phone one. i figure i must have inadvertently changed something but cant figure what - ideas???
  12. Really appreciate the info. Although not on list provided (but seems to be a popular phone?) I think I am going to go for a Nokia 6280. Apart from single entry transfer has anyone else had a problem with this. By the way i assume that my Mar 2005 RX300 SEL will have Bluetooth capability on it - I did not check this with dealer and assumed it was standard but seem to have read differently elsewhere.
  13. You can call any contact stored in the 'One Touch' directory whilst on the move. A friend on mine has 'TomTom' navigation in his car and I am horrified when he fiddles with it whilst driving. I read recently that numerous accidents are caused by this wreckless behaviour. I only wish that the same safety features that my Lexus Navigation has applied to all portable systems. thanks very much for this - that is indeed of some comfort and probably sensible as long as you can have say at least 20 in the 1 touch mode. If one of these is 'the operator' then I guess for a little extra cost he can put you through to any number whilst on the move? Probably wrong thread, but there seems to be issues about phones and car talking to each other via blue tooth with certain phones. is there a consensus of which one I should go for for 'guiaranteed' will work ok
  14. My new(to me) rx300sel (05) is arriving next week and I cannot believe what I am reading about the bluetooth facility, a major reasoning for choosing this particular car. I was planning on buying a bluetooth compatible phone to use while i am driving but what i am reading is that as long as you dial out when you are not moving you can use it, but not when the car is travelling - what is the point? Does this mean i might as well stay with my old, non-bluetooth, phone and fit a hands free kit? The laughable thing is that this is all in the name of safety- so instead of pressing a button to dial out (whats the difference to changing radio station?) I have(in the absence of a hands free kit) to put my phone to my ear and twiddle with the fiddly keypad, risking a ban as well as my life and that of others', Have I chose the wrong car I am now asking - shou;d I have gone for either a Merc or lower spec rx and put a tom tom in? Add my name to this petition you guys are doing - and not even got car yet!
