  1. Hi, it's all to do with the A/C system. If the Climate Control system requires heat in the cabin before the engine is at running temperature the management unit will speed up the idle rpm to speed up the time to get to the running temp. To prove it try this with a cold engine. Set the A/C to 25 or 26 degrees the idle rpm will increase Set the A/C to 16 or LO and the idle rpm will be normal This will continue until the engine has heated up. Also it only happens when the car is stationary. Cheers Russell
  2. Had the same problem. Took to Lexus Glasgow who sorted it with anti-bacterial spray under warranty. Perhaps your local dealer is worth a try :D
  3. Hi, this may be a daft question, but does anyone know if the Multimedia package can be retrofitted and if so any idea on cost. :duh:
  4. My car went in this morning for warranty work, service reception phoned my insurance company (More Than) to arrange the transfer. He had to pass the phone to me as there was "a problem". The person at More Than stated that as I had had 4 changes to my policy within the last year i.e. car in for servicing, warranty work etc they could not insure the courtesy car as that would a 5th change. I threatened them with cancelation of my policy and they relented but it cost me £10 for the change to my policy + a £10 admin fee. Apparently it states this in the small print of the policy but as soon as I get my car back the policy will be cancelled. Cheers Russ
  5. Thanks for that. I'll see how it goes on Wednesday before I get Lexus GB involved. Cheers Russ
  6. Hi, I have had my 220d SE for almost 6 weeks now overall impressed BUT!!!. 2500 mls on the clock now. MPG getting better all the time (average low 40's), usual & unusual problems since new. 1. Massive bird crap on the middle of bonnet which looked to have marked the paint. Fortunatly after a lot of elbow grease with various polishes the mark has (almost) vanished. 2. Intermittent problem with steering. When going round a right hand bend (mainly on an "A" class road between 30-50mph) when I have to bring the wheel back to straight it sticks & I have to tug the steering wheel to free it. 3. Rattle from around the offside front seatbelt height adjuster. 4. Smell coming from the air con system. Car booked into dealer to rectify problems, had car for 2 days (courtesy car RX 450h, very nice). Service reception states anti bacterial treatment put int a/c system, "a couple of rattles had been sorted" (I only reported 1) & could not find anything wrong with the steering. Took car home, very strong air freshener smell (anti bacterial treatment), steering problem still there. Not a happy chappy :tsktsk: 5. Steering again 6. Smell back from air con 7. Original rattle back plus another from offside vent on dash 8. Drivers seat has started to creak Car booked in on Wednesday for 3 days this time for them to have another go. Don't want to name the dealer but it is owned by Arnold Clark who owns just about ebery dealership in Scotland. Lets see how they get on this time. :duh: I will post the results when I get the car back.
  7. Cheers for that. It just seemed strange that it does not do it all the time!! Russ
  8. Hi, has anyone experienced an idle RPM of 1200 from cold, my 220d does this from time to time. When it does it it stays at 1200 until the engine is at normal running temp, which I find strange as on other occasions it idles below 1000rpm which I think is normal. Phoned Lexus Glasgow about it who said they would look at it but didn't think anything could be done. Also noticed that when it happens my mpg sems to be 3 to 4 mpg lower on the same trip. Cheers Russ :o
  9. I seem to have "almost" got rid of the mark. I used Zymol HD Cleanse on it. This stuff takes the paintwork back to factory condition i.e. removes polish, wax, oxidization etc. Was a lot of work but I am really happy with the result, you really have to get down really close and know what your looking for to see it. Anyway my panic is over. I gave it a good polish and wax after with Carlack 68 and a coat of Zymol Concours wax ontop, the result is amazing, the best shine I have ever had on any car I have owned. :winky:. I will post photos as soon as I workout how to do it Cheers Russ
  10. Thanks for all your advice. I'll let my local dealer have a lokk at it Cheers Russ
  11. Took delivery of my 220d se, Astral Black with Pembroke Leather on Thursday. I am so over the moon with it. Anyway today we wnt to Glasgow Green to do the Sport Relief Mile and on our return to the car there was a dirty great big bird crap on the bonnet. As sonn as we got home the washing gear was out, but to my horror the crap had marked the paint (slight rippling). After the wash I polished the car with CarLack (came up amazing) but the mark was still there. I take it this will be repaired under warrenty and it also begs the qyestion whether the dealer actually polished or waxed the car before delivery :tsktsk: Cheers Russell
  12. 7 miles away Is Lexus Glasgow or Edinburgh included for discount ;)
  13. Not actually got my IS 220d SE yet. Ordered last month, not expected until the first week in August & I can't wait. It is Astral black with Pembroke Black Leather. Can't wait :D
