  1. Hey, so, stumbled upon Dynolicious one day while browsing, decided to install it on my iPod touch and give it a try. This afternoon I found myself a nice strech of asphalt, about half km long, flat & straight, and decided it was time to give it a go. My car is a standard is200 except for a kazama backbox and a camcon. As you might know, basically the only info you have to provide to the software is the weight of the car- I figured 1570 kgs could be a good estimate for my electric leather seat, non-nav IS, with me weightin little over 70 kgs. Transmission loss was left to 0%, which should return the estimated wheel-HP. Did 3 run - first 2 with camcon off, third one was on. Mind you, I'm not really an expert in launching a car, as yo u can tell from the 0-100km time, in fact on the 2nd run I did a little bit better. Not too much of a surprise to find out that the camcon does no good at all to my car, at least with the current settings I have. But I have to admit I'm pretty excited about this little piece of software. It seems result are pretty repeatable, therefore tuning my camcon or adding some tuning part (an exhaust manifold maybe? or a supercharger?) should show me exactly what has been gained or lost. Here below you can find the data provided by the software, first run first: --------------------- 2002 Lexus IS200 --------------------- 14/feb/2010 17.50 Acceleration 0-10 km/h: 0.65 sec 0-20 km/h: 1.18 sec 0-30 km/h: 1.96 sec 0-40 km/h: 2.72 sec 0-50 km/h: 3.93 sec 0-60 km/h: 4.94 sec 0-70 km/h: 6.01 sec 0-80 km/h: 7.12 sec 0-90 km/h: 8.86 sec 0-100 km/h: 10.40 sec 0-110 km/h: 12.00 sec 0-120 km/h: 13.69 sec 0-130 km/h: 16.17 sec Elapsed Time 60': 2.82 sec @ 39.5 km/h 330': 7.51 sec @ 81.3 km/h 1/8 mi: 11.34 sec @ 104.9 km/h 1000': 14.55 sec @ 122.7 km/h 1/4 mi: 17.26 sec @ 135.6 km/h Miscellaneous Max Speed: 135.7 km/h Max Acceleration: 0.57 G's Peak Horsepower: 121 HP --------------------- 2002 Lexus IS200 --------------------- 14/feb/2010 17.53 Acceleration 0-10 km/h: 0.63 sec 0-20 km/h: 1.18 sec 0-30 km/h: 1.70 sec 0-40 km/h: 2.46 sec 0-50 km/h: 3.69 sec 0-60 km/h: 4.61 sec 0-70 km/h: 5.66 sec 0-80 km/h: 6.76 sec 0-90 km/h: 8.44 sec 0-100 km/h: 9.94 sec 0-110 km/h: 11.56 sec 0-120 km/h: 13.22 sec 0-130 km/h: 15.55 sec Elapsed Time 60': 2.69 sec @ 41.7 km/h 330': 7.27 sec @ 82.4 km/h 1/8 mi: 11.04 sec @ 106.7 km/h 1000': 14.23 sec @ 125.2 km/h 1/4 mi: 16.90 sec @ 135.4 km/h Miscellaneous Max Speed: 136.9 km/h Max Acceleration: 0.57 G's Peak Horsepower: 124 HP --------------------- 2002 Lexus IS200 --------------------- 14/feb/2010 17.55 Acceleration 0-10 km/h: 0.53 sec 0-20 km/h: 1.06 sec 0-30 km/h: 1.72 sec 0-40 km/h: 2.47 sec 0-50 km/h: 3.73 sec 0-60 km/h: 4.62 sec 0-70 km/h: 5.68 sec 0-80 km/h: 6.81 sec 0-90 km/h: 8.51 sec 0-100 km/h: 10.09 sec 0-110 km/h: 11.69 sec 0-120 km/h: 13.43 sec 0-130 km/h: 16.02 sec Elapsed Time 60': 2.65 sec @ 40.1 km/h 330': 7.27 sec @ 81.3 km/h 1/8 mi: 11.06 sec @ 105.0 km/h 1000': 14.27 sec @ 125.2 km/h 1/4 mi: 16.99 sec @ 132.9 km/h Miscellaneous Max Speed: 135.0 km/h Max Acceleration: 0.58 G's Peak Horsepower: 119 HP ^^^this last is the one with the camcon turned on..... I wonder if anyone else has tried this software with their car, and what is your thoughts on it. All data coming out on my ipod seems to make sense to me, 125 HP at the wheels sounds about right for this car (a standard car) and to think it does it just through the accellerometer it amazes me! Here also some dyno chart, second run and last run, with Camcon on... All in all, well pleased with this app, much less with the camcon sorry for the longest post ever, cheers.
  2. thanks all! will give it another go with the strap wrench. cheers! ^_^
  3. thanks mat for your help. I have the same tool at home, tried but no success, there's actually not much room to play with it once you'r eunder the car, but i'm sure you know better ;-) maybe it's just my filter that is supertight, I don' tknow... all I know is that that strapwrench just slides over the filter... thanks anyway, I'll keep lookin around, all my hopes are on ebay at the moment.
  4. thanks! :) checked on halfords.com but I could only find a 76 mm cupwrench. Not the correct one I'm afraid. any other suggestion?
  5. Hi, after my recent, unsuccesfull attempt to change the oil filter on my IS, I'v ebeen looking everywhere I could in order to find the proper tool designed to remove the damn filter. I've discovered there are 100ths of different model oilfilter, and for each one there's aof course a different tool. Unfortunately, after looking also on catalogues from several tool manufacturer (can't believe BETA doens't have one!!!) I couldn't possibly find the right one. Ebay didn't turn out anything good either, som I'm pretty loast at the moment. I just can't find here in italy a 14 faces, 72mm tool. Maybe some of you can give me some hint, maybe I can buy it in some UK online store? Maybe Ormi can help? Maybe, just maybe, someone can tell me what's the correct english name for that tool so that I can search it myself? Thanks for all the help you can give. r.
  6. That's pretty good going so far then huh :) What management are you using for it? Have you added a thicker Head gasket to lower the compression? Completely stock motor stock injectors and currently on Aem management slightly OT, but is there any palce online where we can see the mods you have done to your 1g-fe to put out that sort of power? Me think this should give much hope to lot's op people lookin for more power, and considering how scarce s/c are nowadays (plus they're all becoming older, and prone to break I guess) I wouldn't mind a turbo kit on mine, and 250 hp sounds definitely good! :-)
  7. ...and don't forget possible custom duties.
  8. hmm, honestly? 10w 40 is the most common grade you can find here, therefore good deal on this kind of oil. I was checking the manual the other day (also here) and after reading here and there, and counting in that the 1gfe is not a performance engine, I figured I would focus more on the quality (castrol) than struggling on which grade would suit best my car. I would probably not feel the difference anyway. So, as long as the engine doesn't suffer (and I don't see why it should) I'm happy.
  9. Casstrol Magnatec 10W 40, it was on sale, 4 liters 23 eur.
  10. thanks Mat, I'll put it back then. but how far would you suggest to go before the next change?
  11. well so today I decided to do an oil+filter change on my IS200... I'm no mechanic (and it shows, sadly) but i figured with all the info i got on here it wouldn't have to be such a tough job. Anyhow, here i am crawling underneath the car, take off the plastic shield, move the car over the pit, undo the drain plug - easy! oil flows out, I'm all happy! now undo the filter... hmm where's the filter? oh yes, up there, stick my hand in the narrow space, filter is not hand-tight, try with a couple of filter wrences (chain type) but no success... th eidea of pokin a screwdriver through it is out of quoestion, I don' twanna break anything, plus I don' t see there would be much room to play even if I manage to make a hole in the filter. much thinkin, but after a while - a bit disappointed - decided it's better to leave it like that until I get a proper tool (something like this should do it) Now my question is: how bad it is to put new oil w/o changin the filter? of course I had to fill her up, but do not wish to waste 4 liters of castrol just like that, so maybe I figured I could drive 4 or 5 thousand Km, then do a new oil+filter change, insetad of waiting 10k km. what do you guys think? PS: that plastic shield under the engine.. .is it really necessary to put it back?
  12. hi Dimitris, thanks for your comments! I don't have a s/c but you make me feel like wantin to try out this manifold! need to see if I have a few hundreds euro laying around.. :winky: but if now your also going to change the back section, do you think you will encounter some problems when it comes to emission test? of course I don't know how it is over there in Greece, maybe easier to get away with these mods?
  13. hi Dimitris, was wondering if you have any impression to share on the exhaust manifold you got form australia... I'm pretty sure there' snot many around and was wondering if you can tell us what do you think of it and if you would recommend it to other users...
  14. Hey Ormi, thanks a lot for the wonderful walkthrough! very nice job! so good to have a mechanic around here ;-) one question, if I may ask.. the washer on the drain plug (on the sump)...where can I get them? what are they made of? metal, paper, rubber? anyhow, thank yo uagain for these info, that's gold right there to me - and possibly a lot of other people
