  1. Talbot samba - enough said Citroen Visa GTI - a 205 gti in an uglier but lighter box :winky: metro van - not much to look at but the group n spec hil climing engine from a turbo model made it worth while. Citroen BX TZD - orible but a great mile gobler Ford Ka - fun once the turbo and nitrous was fitted. Smart car - just needed to have owned one toyota celica GT4 - fastest thing I've owned MK1 LS400 - smoothest thing i've owned & my first LPG car. Moved to USA PT cruiser GT - fun but 240hp is not enough to make it a rice burner beater. Ford F150 - yee ha, a rednek truck in suburbia, roomy but 15mpg is not ideal even with 58p/litre petrol. I've not posted for ages and this thread made me realise how much I miss my LS.
  2. In case you fellas hadn't already guessed from ade's post above... The big dog is sold! Sold to Ade yesterday for a suitable sum. All the best with the car Ade, I'msure you will have few if any problems and if you do, the fellas here will be sure to help you out and with BazGTR on your doorstep you'll be fine. It's less of a goodbye and more of a ta for now. I'll be stoping buy and checking in and you never know, I may end up with another LS in the US as my second car. Needed 7 seats and wanted 4 wheel drive for the Illinois winters, plus choice of lease cars (company that my company uses) is limited, so I have ended up with the audi Q7. Not a Lexus I know, but at least European not a gas guzzling yank tank! ;)
  3. Definately go for thr anti rol bar bushes yourself. Took me about an hour to do both of them. I think the pair cost 22 quid inc vat.
  4. As of december the big dog is for sale, do you think it's worth selling the 18's & HID's seperately? Obviously the LPG will stay on but not sure if I have time to take out all the stereo either.
  5. Exactly! So buy me a shotgun and call me bubba... I'm off to Illinois in jan! back in 4 years if I can't convince the wife to stay permamently!
  6. Thanks Microcat Anyone confirm that the codes are on the heater control screen?
  7. de-badge & dark windows, that's the minimalist modifier's approach :winky:
  8. Gents, I was trawling through the posts about heating problems and found this thread. Has anyone fixed their problem buy sorting the codes? I have a heater problem where the heaters just about get hot then go cool again unless the car is given some beans and then the heaters get hot again for a while. I also have a bled out lcd so I'm assuming that's where you can see the codes - so if I di the test I can't see them. What's the dome fuse look like and where's it located, may pull it out anyway and try to clean the sensors if I can find them. Thanks, Alex JB.
  9. Crikey! Hope you have trade plates and insurance so you can drive them all!
  10. This is totaly off topic I know but... I agree Chris that the new LS isa a gorgeous car but save some cash for a holiday and buy the 460, the 600h is a gimic! if we wanted economy we's be driving smart cars not one of the bigest cars on the luxury market. getting 30mpg instead of 25 is not really a reason to be congestion charge free. However if anyone just bought the hybrid for the extra smooth power delivery and the extra cash was just lying around then well done! Why don't Toyota upsize the powertrain from the prius a little and put the IS on a diet and with some eco tyres etc it could be a competitive luxury hybrid that actually got a decent distance out of the batterys/motors and good economy out of the engine running them. (steps down off the soap box) Rant over. :winky:
  11. nice! I'm assuming it's the blue one that's new? Do you know what the alloys are off originally? I have seen similar ones on e-bay but not sure which Lex they come from
  12. pitty it's not an afternooon pick up, I would have made you a coffe before you set off for home.
  13. Well I have a dilema, to sell or not to sell? :shutit: It's not that I want rid of the LS, far from it but I'm moving to the US for 3 years some time in the new year and I need to decide what to do with the car. To be honest I would like to keep her but cash for another car whilst in the US has to come form somewhere. What to do?
  14. I think I have a winner... after one nights browsing and 1 bottle of wine (and maybe a whisky or two) I am the proud owner of a 1974 Piaggio APE 3 wheeler! I had been looking for ages but it's amazing the biding courage you get from a bottle of wine!
  15. LOL at Graham! Only because I'v been there, you want to see some of the flea-bay rubis I've bought in a similar state...
  16. you battery has not got really low has it? could be needing the radio code? Just a thought.
  17. Lookin good, you just need an extra half of next doors parking bay so that you don't have to squeeze her in!
  18. Thought the big dog had another monts MOT left, turns out it had already expired! Took her to the garage where I get my LPG, good local guy and he did the MOT. All passes except brake lines. He recons that 95% of the lines (where exposed to the elements) are covered with a sleeve. But some previous MOTer had decided to cut off a section to check the condition of the brake line :tsktsk: all the line was like new other than this section about 100mm long where the sleeve had been removed. Thie exposed section was buggered and I can't belive it was still holding pressure. He's a genuine guy and insisted on showing me and offered to take the car down and I caould take it home to fix myself, I don't like doing brake lines and seeing how bad it was got them to do it, £130 for both lines front to back not a bad price but there goes my beer money for the month! Rant now over, but just incase, if you can, check your brake lines. If Lexus put sleeving on, they did it for a reason.
  19. My key experience, I have all 4 for my mk1 2 x normal key with remote central lock built into key. 1 x key with smallerkey head, has no central lock button. 1 x skeleton key, can only assume it's a master of some sort, it came in the service wallet.
  20. wellsaid that man! You are going to struggle to find mint car as the ones that have been garaged from new and only done 60k are snapped up and the rubber bits in the supension ect are as buggered as ones with 180k. If a dealer recons it so solid underneath and suspension wise, ask him if he'll knock 50 quid of if you take it to another garage for them to MOT, if he doesn't go for it straight off then he's probably unsure about the condition of something (prob control arms) so walk away, but if he's confident his MOTer recons it's sound then you should be ok. I took the same risk last year and mine just went through this years mot with nothing other than a slightly rusty brake line. Unfortunately, mine will be for sale but not untill end of the year, I'm off to the US for a while so will be looking to buy me an LS in Ilinois in december.
  21. You should post this on the US forum too, I know I read a thread about it some time ago on there. Not sure any of our Celsior owners have one of these boxes.
  22. Also adding to Maneesh's point, lighter is better in general, race cars pay a lot of attention to the weight of wheel/tyre along with any component that is road side of the suspension, lighter the components the better, as the suspension can react faser and aid traction. big shiny wheels look nice though :winky:
  23. I fitted 18's with 235x35 tyres and my speedo is still 4mph @ 70mph above the GPS reading. With the correct offset (ET45 I think) there is no rub in any situation I have found. Manees is right though, to really fill out the arches you would need to lower, but I didn't want to sacrifice any more ride qualirt that I already did by fitting the 18's.
