  1. I have an 80 litre donut tank in my LS, it makes the boot floor carpet thingy a little uneven. Holds about 60 litres when virtually empty, that's £22 of LPG and I get 200-240 miles on that depending on driving conditions. took some pics of the install, will dig them out and post them if you like.
  2. You have to have some deep pockets to run that rare breed of bmw v12, only went in that 850 nad the 750, parts are like rocking horse poo and cost more per kg than gold. glad you got the battery sorted though, did you keep the old battery? it's perfectly good and could be used in yr garage?
  3. Classic symptoms of anti roll bar bushes? Do you know if they have been changed in the last 60k?
  4. Crikey Pete! You are the man in the know! The guy who fitted my kit had exactly the same kit on his soarer for may years without problems and this was one of the reasons I went with them. There was a Co2 test done during set up and is attached to my instalation document. I thin the original Mk1 LS ia 250g/km or so, with LPG my car is now at 119g/km, that's the same as peugeots latest HDI's that they rave about. I take your point about the electrical system, If I could afford a 430 I'd be concerned about chopping into the harness but I'm at the other end of LS ownership costs and it was a risk I was prepared to take. over the 4000+ miles I have done I have saved around 500quid on fuel and the kit is making the car worth 400 quid or so more = if I sell te car tomorow, it's paid for itself already. I recently did a longish trip with the cruise on at less then 70 (when it was chucking it down las sat), I got 255 miles out of 20 quid of gas, that's the equivalent of 48mpg in current petrol prices! Pete's info is great and I think we are a lucky forum to have such involved people with good information and level heads. I say go for it. Pete says choose wisely. Is there anyone with a nightmare story?
  5. I removed the bulb from the rear ones so my son doesn't play the light on light off game all the way to nursery... When he did play this game it flattened my battery about 4 times over about 8 weeks and it has never had a problem since. Is it holding charge now?
  6. Hi, The system starts on petrol and cuts over to gas providing the engine coolants hot enough and once the revs go over 2.5k this means letting it idle for 30 secs on cool summer morings then bliping the throttle. In winter I imagine (and I do some cold mornings already) drive for 1/2 mile then blip or drive over 2.5k rpm, the changeover occurs on the way down the revs, this avoids changing when under load. Yes the kit was fitted in Warington Cheshire, a stone's throw from that dodgy nightclub by the big roundabout. PM me if you want there number, they have a website to.
  7. I talked to the guys at Lordz and no one knows of an LS in the UK on air... (Celsior doesn't count) U could be the first! I was tempted but spent the cash on paint and LPG instead.
  8. Hi, Getting a constant 17 with my stop start 10 mile drive to work, but at 40p/litre that = 11p/mile, which would = 40mpg in petrol or heavy oil. Does better on a run but only about 18% (up from 17 to 20mpg), on petrol the 19mpg I was getting used to go up to 25mpg which would be 30% better. Maybe because I've developed more of a club foot since mu fuel bill halved... Drive in ECT PWR mode all the time now too. 4000 miles saving about 13p/mile = £520 saved in fuel cost, and we all know where most of yr 96p/litre goes to anyway... not to the poor guy on the forcourt that's for sure, so I'm very happy.
  9. over 18mpg is great! my mates vogue SE only gets 12 when not towing! Did see a towing article with the Overfinch rangie... they didn't talk about fuel consumption but did prove a that a punto on an Ifor williams 4 wheel car trailer only added 1 sec to the 0-60 and it towed it up to 125mph (private runway ofcourse)
  10. guy said a good caliper should have almost no movement, the space between spokes in my wheels is enough to get your hand in and give it a tug to check the movement, but if you steer al the way over I bet you can get your hand in to check from the back.
  11. Well, I have been hearing the dreaded clunking for a while and got rid of it when I did the roll bar bushes... for a while... now it's back. I buy my LPG form a local garrage and the nice fella there agreed to take a look on the ramps (suggested I'd be taking her there for the MOT :winky: ). Lucky for me all is solid as a rock throughout the front suspension! Turns out the pasenger side caliper is quite loose on the slider as one of the rubers has gone and the slider shaft has coroded. second hand caliper and slide needed but aparently not desperate as he says it will pass MOT as is. Anyone else had this issue with front calipers?
  12. Re - stereo: If you get no sound at all and the car has stood, if the battery was disconnected or went flat then the stereo will need the code. I took mine out then put it back and it searched and found stations but no sound... same as yours I think. If you don't have the code, try the last 3 digits of your vin no, that's often it.
  13. One went on flea-bay about 2 weeks ago for 40 quid, said it was a factory one but I assome you can get aftermarket ones too.
  14. For all interested parties, here is the pics of Baz's strut braces... Rear Front Look nice mate, ley us know if they really help and I think they will sell.
  15. Hey Baz, You are right about the body roll. the LS is fast-ish in a straight line but a 2 ton car designed for luxury... not a cornering machine. I'll certainly take your opinion on board once you get some, however, I bought out of the fast car game (several turbo'd cars later I sold my celica with beams engine, sold to buy the LS). I can't aford em but I think some folks will if they're 10-15% cheaper for a boat shipment.
  16. Sounds interesting but I think most folks will need to know what they 'feel like' on the car. You definately getting a set for your car then?
  17. I have a custom build for 15" sub in place of the original, and still fit a baby buggy and a full weekly shop in there... are you a hitman and need to do muliple target hits or smething? Go for a 7 series, you could fit at least 3 bod deddies in there!
  18. Steve, can you pm me when you get the ship cost, thin I need some before MOT end of sept. Maybe we can get 2 sets for even less delivery?
  19. I subscribe to 'autocar' as it's a weekly, and aimed at industry as much as private readers, it's seems as impartial as car mags get. Last week they did the 300C SRT vs S-type R vs Vxr8, comparing the 300C against these super saloons is a good match, by the way, it lost an almost all counts. 300C is a butch looking car, is as late 80's blocky looking as the S1 LS, that's one of the reasons I bought my LS, the retro saloon look and the V8. If Toyota built the 300C... I'd be selling the wife and kids to own one!
  20. Hi, My 18's were from e-bay, were fitted to an import soarer before, hence why I can vouch for soarer wheels fitting the LS.
  21. slightly better MPG if you trade off 2 cylinders... The back end of the older shaped GS is a real nice design but the front is a bit bland. The GS300 sport with those 18" rims is a nice model, doesn't quite have the 'presence' of the LS though.
  22. damn that 112mph limiter... it can be removed though :winky:
  23. original wheels are 45 ofset but there seems something funny that Halfords can't advise you correctly.
