  1. I'm sure 'POST' rules don't forbid you mentioning WHERE/WHO did the work, and cost? We could get a bulk discount..... I'm sure I could drive without a spare tyre.....and may be driving to Cyprus later in year, so.....(can you GET gas in Turkey?) Hey Chris, Don't know about Turkey gas, but the stuff from cows would work ok :winky: There's internet sites giving locations of LPG stations all through Europe so I don't see why not. As for the kit. Warington Autogas (in Warington obviously) took 2 full days to fit. I saw the ad on e-bay, called him to enquire if the kit was suitable for a Lexus and it turns out he used to own a Soarer that he LPG'd and had no probs with. Took it up there, fitted cost 895GBP +32 quid first fill up +40quid to change the spark plugs, I asked him to do it while he had all the covers off. Considering most V8's on autotrader in the 2K price range are going for 500quid more if they have LPG, it only needs to pay back 495quid and I'm laughing. :D
  2. But...back to this original enquiry!!! The wife tells me all the time ho easily I get distracted... sorry what was I saying? Oh yes, the original mk4 wheel are 16x7JJ = 178mm wide (correct me if I'm wrong anyone). The 7.5JJ = 190mm wide. As the tyres have a 225 wide tread width and some bulge due to there 60% profile they should protect the wheel rim and fit ok. Would not want to go to 8JJ though as the rim would be getting close to being exposed and you could get sealing problems. Also it would look like a nova or similar with 17" chrome chavtastics on that has superwide wheels and tyres that are rubber bans round a cotton reel... :0
  3. The 255x35 is used on the back of the soarer with 18's and 235 35 on the front. 205x65 15" (std for S1) will give 514mm rolling dia 225x60 16" will give a 528mm rolling dia. 235x35 18" will give a 539mm rolling dia. 255x35 18" = 546mm - speedo could be out by this point. Choice is yours really, anywhere from 225 to 265 with 35 profile will work and should not rub with the 35 ofset wheels you have.
  4. I picked her back up yesterday with one shiny new LPG kit fitted. :D Cost 30quid in petrol to drive up there. 17/18 mpg (nailing it then bad traffic on M6) = 24p / mile Cost 14quid in gas to drive back. 17/18mpg (what do you expect with the cruise control set at 110) = 12.7p / mile HOORAH!
  5. Hi N55GUS, What are the rims you have from originaly? 18" rims didn't appear on the LS untill at least the MK3, maybe even MK4. Will still fit though. I have 18 x 8 with 235 x 35 tyres and they barely cover the edge of the rim hence lots of curbing. To keep the rolling radius correct you need a tyre similar to mine, with 18 x 7 you should have enough tyre protrusion to protect the rim too. Don't forget though, you are going to loose ride quality going from 16 to 18's... looks good though!
  6. :D LOL at Winnie :D Anyway, high octaine only really helps if the engine and ignition is set up for it. It's a great way to squeze a bit more cash out of the modified corsa masif though :winky:
  7. Well, I fitted 2 new discs and pads to the front.... and TADA! no change at all. :( Think the prop shaft rubber is next on the list, maybe rear discs but it's becoming an expensive guessing game.
  8. That's an option I didn't add to the poll.... add extra badges! :D PM'd you about the lights. For some unknown reason I all ways seem to take the badges off cars, I'm tempted to take the front one out of the grill too... involves quite a lot of re-engineering the plastics though then re-painting, tempted... :winky:
  9. Well, I have finally got my slot with the guy I know doing the od cash paint job... :winky: I have had front bumper, roof, rear quarters (had a parking incident on pasenger side ) rear bumper and boot lid. The reason for the boot lid was that some :tsktsk: hole reversed into me on the car park at work and dinked the LEXUS badge such that the paint cracked under the badge, knackered the badge also. Anyway I decided to have the LEXUS badge removed and just the L in the centre put back. What do you folks think? I like it :D And for good measure, as I've sold my bike I thought I'd take a photoof both my girls... sorry to see the bike go, but glad the Lex is staying.
  10. Hi, I didn't have the part number, just called Lexus Leicester with my VIN number (so they get the right ones) and went to pick them up 2 days later, should work with any Lex dealer. I read loads about the proflex poly bushes on the US site, lots of people rave about them and say how they last really well and increase handling... I didn't want that (I lost enough ride smoothness with the big wheels), I just wanted the original ride quality. Several reports about the poly replacements creaking if not greased right and needing greasing every 3 months so I didn't fancy that either.
  11. Barney; had mine done by guy in Mangotsfield somewhere. Respray really...... sorry to re-direct the post further but... How much have any other folks paid for alloy wheel refurbs? I have a guy in leicester that will do 50quid / wheel inc removing and re-fitting tyres. I'm thinking of going back to my 15's for the old skool look :winky:
  12. Hi Folks, After reading a few things about the creaking I was getting being linked to the anti rolbar bushed, invested in Lexus OEM replacements, didn't want harsher (or possibly creaky) aftermarket polly ones. I fitted them today before my drive from Leicester to Warington... They are fab! make such a difference, all my creaks and groans are gone. No greasing needed and they seem to have some sort of fabric braid in the bearing area, super smooth. If you have creaks over speed bumps or clunks on potholed roads, change em, it's bound to help. :D
  13. Come on over to the world of V8 :) who needs the fast and furious when you can have fast and luxurious...
  14. Defo keep schtum about it. I had a ford Ka with much larger / wider wheels on, went from 13" to 15" but they were still ford Wheels. Someone drove a van into it while I was in bed and then knocked on the door and said 'I've buggered your car mate', insurance questioned the wheels but I said... I know nothing about them being not the original fitment and as they had FORD in the centre caps, I never questioned it when I bought the car. After that they just paid up, the wheels were actually from a Puma. Good job when I collected my personal effects from the car when it was towed to the garage, I took out the nitrous bottle from the boot... :) I seemed to have taken the same stance with the LS too... big car, big wheels, say Lexus in the centre, how should I know any difference...
  15. Interesting.... A vote for the non OEM rubber! Agree about the smokers car though, drove round for weeks in my LS with the windows open and loads of magic trees all over! It's a good cash haggling point though, I drove the price down purely on the ex-smokers car thing. :)
  16. I used to have a similar thing but off for only a split second, it went away when I removed the rubbish tape player head unit ;) Power antenna gets a great signal with my pioneer head unit now, no signal loss at all.
  17. does that mean you have to go on the holiday in your Nissan ? :(
  18. LPG man says he's used the standard plug (but replaces when LPG was fitted) on the 1UZFE's hes done so will do the same with mine.
  19. Do you think it's definately engine related not brake discs or prop shaft rubbers deteriorated over the lay up? Is it worse under breaking (discs) or is it under acceleration (prop shaft)... Just a thought :)
  20. That's a good point, I'll call the installer today. No point me putting new plugs in if they are going to need be changed anyway to suit LPG. Had the same issue when I was running nitrous in a ford... much hotter plugs needed when the gas was on! (but ran like a dog when cold at all other times)
  21. Are you planning to do 'go faster' work on the V8? if your IS200 is turbo'd and you have over 200 horses, the weight of the V8 will mean it'll need more than it produces as standard to propell you at a faster pace than your current lump?? Please correct me if I'm wrong.... :)
  22. Does anyone have a fromt lower valance for a Mk1? the black plastic bit along the bottom of the front bumper on single colour cars. mine's a bit broken and the 2 breakers (from fleabay) I have spoken to only want to sell the whole bumper skin with the lower valance on it. Also, I'm due for an oil change, I'm thinking of changing the plugs at the same time, is there a whole load of stuff to remove to get at them? What plugs do people use? are Toyota ones worth the extra cash over the aftermarket Bosch 4 prong ect? Thanks. :winky:
  23. Ah! Thanks for the info guys, I noticed a lot of brake dust on one wheel only after a trip to work and back (20 miles). I have got new anti rol bar bushes to fit next week so I'll check out the discs/calipers then.
  24. 1) drive like your granny and tailgate trucks, get better MPG. 2) Convert to LPG to save ££ but still get poor MPG 3) buy a fiesta to go to work in and use the LS at the weekends.... I'm going for option 2.
