  2. So what about volvo's then?? Volvo,s dont count because you never know which way their going , with or without indicators :winky: :winky:
  3. just a wild guess, have you checked for a dodgy fuel pump,or fuel filter, both of which could lead to the symptoms described. good luck !! ian
  4. I,ve been toying with the idea of one of those controllers for the air suspension anyone seen or have one of those electronic control units that plug and plays into the air suspension, giving more positions and super low etc ? does lowering it affect the geometry or comfort, been watching one on e-bay,£190 posted from australia, seems a good price but dont want it if there's serious drawbacks. over to you. Ian
  5. Touche !!!! How you lot remember the links and info and where to find it amazes me sometimes, thats what makes this site differant, have a problem and bingo, here's a link on how to fix it,where to buy it and who's the cheapest supplier, oh , and some of the banter makes for enjoyable reading some nights ;) ;) and while we are at it,anyone seen or have one of those electronic control units that plug and plays into the air suspension, giving more positions and super low etc ? does lowering it affect the geometry or comfort, been watching one on e-bay,£190 posted from australia, seems a good price but dont want it if there's serious drawbacks. over to you. 6. dont know who your expert is,but its easier than that. Up the wheel size and you need to lower the tyre size to compensate,so by keeping your speedo etc the same, lowering the tyre profile does effect the ride quality though, which if thats your reason for owning the LS, is well worth thinking about. this link lets you experiment with various wheel/tyre sizes and the resulting differance to the rolling radius. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html I went up to 17,s fitted with 235/45 X 17 and saved the originals for the winter months, and I do notice the road noise more with the lower profile tyres on,plus it tramlines more on motorways than with the factory fitted wheels. looks the biz though !!! So you pays your money and takes your choice as they say. good luck with your choice. Ian
  7. I,m assuming their HID bulbs,I checked the boxes for 02 LS430 HID and thats the price it comes up with,I got some for mine (91 celsior) when I first bought her,and no complaints from me. Cant believe i've started calling the car HER, bit sad innit
  8. here you are,1st search,not checked anyone else... http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/home.php?cat=639 £21.99 a pair,quite a saving me thinks,thats a real mark up is that one.
  9. Hi fellow celsior owner !! thats another one to the clan, mines a 91 and have to agree, change the filters-just remove them 1st to see if there's an improvement, their cheap on e-bay,dont know what the stealers price will be though.
  10. air suspension bits can be costly click this link to a US company that ships, not that bad a price considering that theyve probably been on since new,or they do a complete kit, bolt on,to change to coil's. http://www.arnottindustries.com/part_LEXUS...yid7_pid46.html ive looked into the suspension lowering kits but there,s always something else in the back ground that i need the cash for,is it same as this ?? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=020 most suspension parts are cheaper from the US and readily available,I,m sure you'll get there slowly but surely,at least your mechanicly minded. Ive just ordered the upper control arms from the 1st link, not needed yet but cant match this price in the uk. cheers and good luck. Ian
  11. if there,s only one filter on the system yes its been checked and was spotless, its not loosing much and its not leaking onto the alternator at least ( costly ) the wear on the shaft i mentioned cant be felt its visible to the eye and i have a spare rack to send off, just not sure if the shaft is included in the o/haul or will it just be seals etc. if so i might have to check out the price for that bit, found a company in the US that includes everything but have now stopped shipping to the uk. cheers steve. Ian
  12. hi mate, celsior owner here, mines a 91, and the amps on the right in the boot, got to by removing the side lining,I thought mine was faulty ,no power to the sub-woofer,but before spending ,just try connecting another speaker to the sub wires,my problem was the actual speaker, obtained one that worked from a scrapyard. the rack can be a problem, mine has more leaks than the torey canyon ( showing my age now ) but on my last bit of work the screen was checked and found to be clean,I'm probably going to have to go for a refurbished rack, mines leaking from where the column bolts on,which i gather is the low pressure side of the system ( please correct if wrong ) and i dont know if this section is leaking because of internal seal wear within the rack, but dont think its included in the overhauling process,it seems to be wear on the actual shaft, new seal didnt cure it. i'll give the garage a ring to see if the filter screen is easy to clean with the rack on. have fun in the celsior,oh,and mines on air also. Ian .
  13. I followed the instructions to the letter,as described on the lexl,s site.. http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/engine/timingbelt.html never had a problem, two bolts snapped that held the under belly side bit on,but considering the job,i was delighted with the result and the cash saved but would i do it again........ ask me in 60k, which at 5k a year wont be happening with me,mindst you the cars only done a documented 223k klm ( about 125k miles, a drop in the ocean to some ive seen, front top wish-bones next, awaiting their arrival ordered them on friday from the good old cheap US of A. Ian. if you post twice,is it possible to remove one ??????????

  15. Thinks its time to bite the bullet,if the leads are the originals the rotor arms and dizzy caps probably are also, but as mentioned, she's as smooth as silk and doesnt appear to be suffering any ailments, just goes to show though, nine hours, bolts by the bucket full and parts all over the garage, and it was the last bolt to fit that cocked up :iraqi-info-minister: ,mindst you,i'd skinned knuckles, back ache and headache from remembering what fitted where in what order, should probably have finished it off next morning " more haste less speed as they say " I'd like to see the job done in 2.9 hours as it says in the garage cambelt book, anyone else tackled the job ?? and how long did it take. cheers Ian
  16. anyone know if the coil lead is available as a seperate item or do i need to get the full set ! it started running rough and on inspection, its my fault, when i did the timing belt i caught the coil lead under the dizzy cover and it damaged it,BERK,but there again, even though its now running super smooth again i noticed the leads are all stamped 1991,are these the originals or are they stamped for the year of the car, they seem in remarkable condition if their 16 years old ??? awaiting the reply's with baited breath. cheers Ian
  17. this guy must really be on friendly terms with the local shell station till slave !!!
  18. Im 52 now, with the celsior, last years had to be rushed and i paid £640 with 10yrs no claims and locked in my drive, this year they quoted me £480 so looked around and the cheapest i found was on the high street,it beat all the specialist insurance and search sites,I got this years for £260 from Swinton insurance and thats for the import version. Ian
  19. Cheers for that, they got back to me today and yes its $68 postage which still makes it an amazing bargain !!!
  20. I thought the price was amazing, but despite a few requests ive never had a reply about shipping costs, anyone else had contact it would be a shame to miss out on these two. ;)
  21. Well I always have a huge puddle under my car,and ive not used the aircon all summer, but there again I'm in yorkshire !!!! Home of the brolley. :shutit: :tsktsk:
  22. I like the fact it aids me meeting interesting new people ( only thing is they seem to be all forecourt staff :winky:) seriously though, mines an import and I always get questions about it,and asked if its a private plate they seem amazed that its not,ive drove quite a few cars in my 16 months ownership and nothing matches the ride quality and serenity of the celsior,ok,some parts can be expensive but thats another part of the fun, tracing parts on this site and from the states and suppliers for items not easily traced over here make it all part of the scene, bubbles can burst but at the moment everythings hunky dory. Best £1500 quid ive ever spent.
  23. been on a ramp today and seen where its bleeding to death, its coming out of the input shaft where the steering column connects,is this common ?? cant remember reading about this one ? ive removed the one that was on my old rack (but doesnt leak)to see what the job entailed before attacking the car in earnest, seems its only an outer case with the one seal at the top, seeing as the spare never leaked I'm hoping to just swap the two, should work eh ??then I'll take out the worn seal and see about replacments and parts numbers,it could be used on a thread, there must be people out there that have replaced various seals over time and posting numbers could save a lot of time, good idea,or has it been done before ? right time to get packed,im away to the sun !!!!! :winky: the car can have a rest.
