  1. Why, thank you for taking the time. :) I thought with your Big Gold Badge you would be above that kind of thing. Thank goodness I understand what a forum is for and so won't be reporting you to the mods for breaking the rules. :)
  2. OT: redz: whatever. Geoffers: I think you need to learn to differentiate between real life and an online forum. You think you can assess someone's entire life by posts on a forum? hehe Yes I have a job, and if you have one too then you most likely work for me. Yes I have a Lexus alright. In fact my family have 3. You are not going to rise to it? Look at your post! I was just replying to your sour little dig in the form of a "joke". That incredibly on-topic post was just SO useful and informative. I am enjoying your use of the "we" as you seem unable to stand on your own. You seem to have a need to feel part of a group and are desperate to gather your troops. "Good ole Geoffers" sticking up for us! hehe I am sure people on this forum are quite capable and do not need you as some kind of self-appointed daddy. Think for yourself. I said forums are for arguing? Maybe in your head. I implied it is one of the facets of a forum. Of course arguments happen of forums but that is no reason to be closing threads. I am glad the mods have the sense to leave this thread open. What a dull restrictive place it would be otherwise. Freedom of speech and all that. A forum is a place for healthy discussion, debate, arguments and EDUCATION. This post was primarily to show that it isn't difficult to patronise and be an *****, just like your post. Right shall we now continue discussing phones and stop wasting time on this pointless drivel? DJ Wozza: It was not my intention to ridicule anyone, just to assist them so as not to waste their money on dying platforms. It is just baffling to me that the same people who go to the trouble of choosing such an elegant fantastically engineered car are prepared to slum it when it comes to a mobile. I will do my best to provide more useful information in my replies, but it has to be said I was not the only one padding out my posts with snide comments. Thank you.
  3. OT: Kazi: that is exactly the point. You are dazzled by the specs and forgetting everything else. Nokia love people who don't actually think beyond the specs. Nokia revenue fodder. Try giving some thought to how those specs hang together in a useable device. Long list of "problems" with the iPhone? lol You didn't think that through very well. What you are moaning about is what YOU expect from a phone. Apple doesn't owe you anything. iPhone is selling just fine without trying to be all things to all people. What is DOES do it does better than anything else - that's the point. Geoffers: speak for yourself. I choose to spend my money after I have researched enough to know I am getting the best for what I want to do. Nice to see you climb of the fence though and actually say something not dripping in middle-of-the-road. Just a shame your perceptions are so misplaced.
  4. Hehe well I used to drive a Skyline so I am not new to engine mods! I feel my 430 may reel back in horror if I was to even hint at modding it...! I was just pointing out that after all the investigating that of the phones eventually chosen was a dud. Bang. Great. 1 down, 1 to go. The N96, as far as I am concerned is a classic case of a box with high specs without the software to deliver as it should. It is just a N95 with go-faster stripes. The N95 is absolutley hideous, unwieldy and the software is as good as unusable. I hope the N96 keeps Gord happy. It would frustrate the hell ot of me in minutes. It is SO inelegant. You guys REALLY drive a Lexus???? OT: Anees: Unfortunately not on commission, however if I was I could probably retire. When I get the opportunity to actually sit down with people IRL and show them what Macs and iPhones etc can actually do in the real world, I have an extremely high upgrade rate... :)
  5. Let's hope they let you take the N96 back too. Let's not for get the difference between a Touch Screen and a Multitouch screen shall we? *Pulling teeth*
  6. Google "Tongue in cheek" *rolls eyes* Offtopic: Tiger was "better" than Leopard? Start a new thread if you want to find out why that is utter nonsense. :)
  7. XP= Worked Vista= Doesn't work You figure it out mate! ;) *runs away*
  8. I would tell you what is (mostly) going to replace iPods if I thought you would believe me. :)
  9. Yes Gord, whatever you do take Redz advice. Try before you buy. If you do this I suspect you will end up with neither of those handsets. What you see on the spec sheet and the demos on the websites is VERY different from what you get in reality. In most cases. :)
  10. haha Let's see if that comes to pass shall we? I think we all know the reality of the situation... :)
  11. The Geoffers comment was clearly made in jest. As for your dream of the Google phone making an impact on the iPhone - NO it won't - for so many reasons that I don't have time right now to go in to. Just use Google (hah!) and you will see what people think of this flawed idea. This is for another thread. I have never once said the iPhone is perfect BUT it's a hell of a lot more perfect than any phone I can think of for MOST (NOT ALL!) people. There is a reason people that have opened their minds and actually bought Apple products generally praise them above everything else they have experienced. To avoid Apple products for the reason of not wanting to be someone who could not be happier with the best available product is not very well thought through... If everyone was a "Geoffers" the world would be a very mediocre and dull place and this forum wouldn't be worth visiting, let alone the planet. Stand up and say what you think!!! ---> The Apple product line offers a significantly better user experience than what is generally available and would benefit most naysayers here far beyond what they would ever think possible - if only they would set aside urban myth and hearsay, open their minds and RESEARCH!! This my friends is a fact that I can PROVE time and time again and have done regularly to IT industry titans who have the ability to assimilate information. If you are not buying iPhones and Macs now, a great many of you WILL be in the next few years. Remember these threads. :) I just read Geoffers funny post. You really don't get me do you? You are so far off base I won't bother commenting other than - whatever. Oh and don't try patronising me - there is nothing I can learn from you. You clearly need to get out more and stop taking a forum so seriously. Think about it...
  12. Hello? This is what forums EXIST for. Climb off the fence Mark and dive in. Don't be a Geoffers. ;)
  13. Hi. *waves* OK so you bought an album (AAC(MP4) not MP3 - Apple use AAC which is a far more efficient codec and gives far better sound / bit than MP3) from iTunes which was not from the iTunes Plus selection (which is DRM FREE and double the bitrate for the same price) after reading the T&Cs of course and you are not happy with what you bought. And this is Apple's fault? The ONLY reason DRM is present at ALL on iTunes is thanks to the music cartels and not Apple. Steve Jobs has been championing DRM Free music for years. ANY songs bought from iTunes can be burnt onto a CD and are then DRM free. It's not THAT hard to circumvent the music (*****) companies DRM... The AAC files can be downconverted to MP3 within iTunes and can be played on any player you wish. Although what on Earth anyone is doing playing tunes on anything but an iPod is anyone's guess. Microsoft products are "better"? And "cheaper"? Would you care to break down the price of Windows for me? Or M$ Office? And explain to me how these are cheap compared to Apple software? You will be suprised. It is a complete myth about Apple prices. You need to look at Value For Money rather than the price on the box. Flexible and versatile? *scratches head* I can run far more software on my Mac than anyone can on a Windoze box.
  14. Hello!? Have I come to the Saxo forum by mistake?! I thought for one moment I was on the Lexus forum - you know - for more discerning, choosy individuals who like the best. Geoffers: If you haven't got the balls to climb off the fence then why bother contributing? I am still waiting for you to say anything of any merit. Ragsy: That is one of the funniest comments I have ever heard! Pray tell the world where you discovered your "facts" about Apple. Or dare I say it are you just repeating what you have heard? Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face - that is the best example I have EVER heard. Thanks! :) If you people for one second stopped to think and research rather than trying to justify your messed up Windoze purchases, then most people on this board would benefit HUGELY from switching to Apple Macs, just like people are doing switching to iPhone. You people make me laugh. The only person you are doing down is yourself with all this anti-Apple stuff. You are stopping yourself from joining the Lexus forum of computers and sticking with the Saxo boys outside Burger King. Well done!!
  15. Kazi: If you have been using Macs for so long you should know better than to make the comments you made. I wasn't patronising - I was stating facts. I have in fact been designing and rolling out mobile phone networks throughout Europe for well over 10 years (so for all we know we probably work together every day! lol) and I too have a pretty good (read damn near spot on) idea of the coverage issues with different networks and YOU my friend are plain wrong. No O2's 3G network is not the greatest nor is it the worst. It is good in places and not in others - just like all the rest. There are historical reasons why 3 hands over to Orange for their 2G calls and nothing to do with how good the network is. I know someone at Voda who was in meetings with Steve Jobs about brokering a deal. Voda thought themselves above a revenue sharing agreement. Basically they didn't have the vision O2 did. O2 have scored thousands upon thousands of customers because of this deal. Good job. Of course they chose the network with the best deal. Apple is a business. What you also should know is that O2 only has exclusive rights for 3 (?) years. After that the floodgates will open.... Parthiban: I was meaning in comparison to real cameras, the phone chips are cheap n nasty. The iPhone chip would be no different, it just has lower resolution. Whoopy do. 3.2 or 2 MP? Does it make much difference? Certainly not to me. I email pics from my phone now and then or add a pic to a profile so I can see their ugly mug when they call me. If I want to take real pictures I use a real camera and not delude myself I am taking decent pics with a wannabe camera. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=206...mp;refer=canada
  16. AMEN TO THAT!!!!! In addition - do people really think that the chips in the phone cams are anything but bargain basement variety?! Also Google "focal length"... Don't be fooled by Big Numbers.
  17. Kazi: For 3 years or so now all Macs have been able to run Windows 100%. It is PC users who are limiting their software choices. I boot up in Windows if I want to run Crysis etc on my Mac. This myth of a lack of software on Macs is utter nonsense. My Mac Pro has 4 drive sleds where I can slip any serial ATA drives up to 1TB in and out of all day long until my fingers bleed. How hard is that? Mark is right. It's down to O2 to provide the network coverage. ALL networks have differing coverage try wide so to say Orange is "better" is nonsense. Your perception will differ depending where you live. The iPhone as standard can let you READ any Excel or Word files. I doubt THAT many people want to actually create a pivot table on the train to work.
  18. Mark: if you think so highly of the iPhone, just wait 'til you try a Mac!!!! :) It blows Windows machines out of the water just as the iPhone platform does to other mobiles. The iPhone is simply a mobile Mac that can make phonecalls. This selling Macs by stealth to those who have never bought an Apple product is contributing to the huge year over year increase in Mac sales figures. Buy an iPhone / discover Apple also make computers / try a Mac / SOLD! Another Mac user for life. Genius. iPhone to Mac is the only way... :)
  19. You will not fall off your chair when I divulge that I have an iPhone! A 1st generation iPhone. *gasp* I choose not to have a 3G one because... a) 3G coverage is generally patchy at the best of times for just about all networks in the areas I frequent. B) When I am in a city or a place to chill out and actuallly take advantage of higer data speeds to my phone there is generally WiFi available anyway. c) I am reasonably happy with the speeds EDGE gives me anyway. d) The Lex is all Sat Nav'd up and when I am not in the car I generally know where I am (!) so I don't have the need for GPS. The triangulation method using mobie base stations is enough for me. e) It can do 99% of what the iPhone 3G can. Mostly I am referring to Apps. f) I value battery life! g) It's always nice to skip a generation in gadgets so the "cool" factor when you part with your dosh is worthwhile. (And the battery tech will be generally improved)
  20. What phone do I have!? Is this a trick question!? :)
  21. You are familiar with the App store? Video recording apps and just about anything you can name is available there as well as hundreds of fantastic games. I hope you are using this to download apps to your Touch? Pics of the X1? You must be joking. They watched my every move with it and come to think of it I shouldn't even have mentioned it! I hope the X1 is what you are looking for and you are blissfully happy with it. But is is just another WM phone...
  22. a) Of course the demo looks cool. It's a demo. B) The proof IS in the pudding. c) "Pretty" can't hide the crud underneath - Windows Mobile. Don't worry though - you will soon know what OS you are running when the usual Windows issues start plaguing your experience. d) If you want a camera get a camera. You are falling for the big numbers game these companies are playing. Don't be fooled. e) I have used an X1 and it is no more or less than I expected. A WM phone. Oh dear. f) If you choose to buy this phone you basically have not done your research. g) I say it again. Don't waste your money. It is mutton dressed as lamb. h) yes absolutley the iPhone is a far better, capable and slicker product. i) Let's see how many people are queueing up for the X1 on launch day... j) I couldn't care less if people recommend the X1. No one here will have used one and so it is a hollow recomendation. j) To quote someone famous - "It's the OS stupid." k) If you choose to waste your money on a substandard out of date user-experience and fall for undemonstarted hype rather than useful, functional, secure and slick and choose to buy into the terribly declining WM market then that's your choice. It takes all sorts! :) I repeat - I have used an X1 (I build mobile networks and get to use the new stuff) and it is just another WM phone. Just like any Alienware PC is just another Windoze box. Wake up people! A revolution in the mobile industry is passing you by and you are not even noticing it... The iPhone mobile computing platform will grow and dominate the industry for the forseeable future. It's a 2 horse race, albeit in slightly different markets between RIM and Apple. WM is as good as dead. All I have to do it wait and I will be proved right. :)
  23. Never mind eh. It's just another Windows mobile dressed up pretty. Mutton dressed as lamb. 5 minutes with it and you will regret it....
