  1. Hi all, i have a 1996 Aristo my floor mats are tired, does anyone know where you can get replacement mats to fit the car, they seem difficult to source cheers
  2. Hi all, following my rebuild on my Aristo tt, the trc warning light on the speedo is constantly lit, it came up with a fault code of 87 but apparently that does not exist, we reset the ecu but that did not work, any ideas would be good, it could be a short in the trc fuse etc but where are they, all fuses in boxes are in tact, traction control does not work either(not that i am really bothered as it is crap anyway) car is a 1995 mk1 cheers Matt
  3. Does the Aristo TT have only one o2 sensor same as Supra TT?
  4. Could also be oil pressure sensor switch which is near air con compressor, you should also check your breather pipes. My car had similar prob and has cost me £5000 so far with a rebuild but is a mk1, hope yours is simple.Suspect crank seals if you are running higher boost, trouble with oil is it could be leaking from front and being blown back when driving etc etc
  5. Hi turbos are not included in rebuild but as mine are shot am having some low mileage ceramics put in, just keeping her stock
  6. Hi all as some of you may know my Aristo TT 1996 is having a rebuild done, well things got worse, the pistons were so bad they could not be honed so it needs all new pistons, rings and a rebore, rest of the engine has been fully rebuilt and blueprinted(valves, oil pump, shims, crank polished etc etc), it also needed two engine mounts final bill will be £5000!, seems mad but it is being done by Mkiv store in Bristol who are awesome, if i gave up now i would lose more money.Only paid 3 grand for it so there you go and i do not like mk2 shape.Just a warning to you though when they go they do it in style. Also put two newer turbos on with 25000 on as turbos on it with 98000 were shot, engine will be like new.No symptoms initially just developed an oil and coolant leak!!!.Engine was carbonised inside which Martin thinks is a result of poor oil changes and thrashing in it's early days, looking forward to getting it back, it is staying stock but has had arp studs etc put in anyway cheers Matt
  7. Just wondering is the heater matrix on the Aristo the same terrible job to do as it is on the supra, i.e entire dash out and strip down, as am already spending a lot on my car and don't want fear of more expensive work!!
  8. Was a previous mkiv supra owner and both n/a and tt supras are non inteference, hiwever you do not want the belt to go as i suppose it could cause some damage potentially, engine in gs 300 and aristo's are the same hence my presumption that they are non interference, and yes it basically means the belt will just go, you get no drive but will not bend rods, knacker pistons etc etc, that was brought in by european manufactureres as planned obsolescence to keep making big money from lazy people when belt snapped!! lol
  9. Non interference engine so if belt goes not a big worry, change it anyway
  10. Defo sound like a water pump to me, contact Martin James at www.mkivstore.com he should be able to advise you and knows these cars inside out, probably has one in stock cheers Matt
  11. I would only use optimax, ultimate or the new shell v power or tesco 99, as the engines run much better on higher octane, you can get rough running with 95 ron.Engine in the supra is ecactly the same just position of sump and powersteering pump is different cheers Matt
  12. Original toyota manual for the supra states 1 minute cooldown needed after hard driving, have a look at this for results of bad care http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.ph...t=carbonisation cheers Matt
  13. Aido it is vital that you let the car warm up properly, you should keep below 3000rpm and not go full throttle until at least 5 mins after coolant is up to temp(i.e temp gauge is normal). After driving you should idle for 1 minute approx. If you do not do this you will end up with problems like me and need a rebuild.Main reason cited for my probs is car being thraped before oil up to temp.If you do not let her idle after driving the turbos stay red hot and oil burns on them causing carbonisation, this is mightily important do not let anyone tell you otherwise, they are liars if so cheers Matt
  14. Not with a new engine in it, plus don't like look of mk2, so 7.5 k + 4k would be 11.5 for same
  15. Scooter had the car before me, and i have spoken to him, do not think he was aware and he only drive at weekends, whereas i have driven it every day and have given it some, don't think he had it above 4000 rpm, it is a shame but there you go, in my job as an Intensive care charge nurse i was looking after an 18 year old with terminal cancer i am sure he would have gladly swapped situations with me, i will put it down to experience, am having full engine rebuild now, see post in gs300 section cheers Matt
  16. As you may have seen have had some probs with the Aristo TT, i have decided to go for a full engine rebuild at mkiv store/interpro in Bristol, engine will be as good as new and will need running in again, not cheap at £4000 but including purchase price of car i have a quick, luxurious car for about £7500, body work is spotless, full leather, lsd so why not, it should also be about 320bhp once done, rebuild involves new valves, rings, seals, oil pumps, water pump, skimming and fettling of everything, full acid decoke of entire engine etc etc, will need to run her in for 1000 miles at 4000 rpm max and no full throttle. Opinion from Martin at mkiv store is that as these cars look like standard 4 door saloons people forget what they are dealing with and do not take care of the engine as well i.e full throttle when not up to oil temp no cooldown etc, whereas with the supras you are thinking more along the lines of i am in sports car.He has seen these problems a lot with Aristos and not as much with Supras. Rebuild comes with 12,000 mile warranty also.I will look after it also so engine should give me another 100,000 miles plus.Turbos will be checked also, but i have another low mileage set to put in if needs be. Matt
  17. Did not have start up knock when i bought it, i have given it ome hammer though and driven it every day, and i think the bloke before used it only at weekends, always let engine warm up and cool down properly though, don't think it has been over 4000 rpm for some time!! where exactly in warwickshire are you and a straight swap won't be that difficult just a bit frustrating at times due to seized nuts In Warwick but car is at mkiv store in Bristol, who i consider to be most knowledgeable person on these engines/cars that there is, i will run it past him re putting another engine in cheers Matt
  18. £3500, may consider putting another engine in, car is in good condition generally so no point in buying another for same potential probs to happen.Either way the sum of £2000 will have to be paid whichever way i look at it.At least once it is sorted i know i will look after it. The problem may have been caused by a blocked oil pickup strainer, i have history showing regular services stamped in the book.Oil pressure sensor also needs changing cheers Matt
  19. Did not have start up knock when i bought it, i have given it ome hammer though and driven it every day, and i think the bloke before used it only at weekends, always let engine warm up and cool down properly though, don't think it has been over 4000 rpm for some time!!
  20. 2 grand would be cheaper to buy a new engine and install it Apart from i could not install it myself as do not have equipment or know how, used engine at least a grand and no guarantee it won't go the same way
  21. Keep forgetting about this section, have posted in gs300 too, my TT had an oil and coolant leak so took it to mkiv store, oil pressure sensor switch is leaking oil, has also developed rattle on start up, dip stick test showed no oil in bottom end(?oil strainer mesh) and big end shells have prob gone.Car has driven fine. Bill is going to be £2000, car is stock with 98,000 and have only had it 1 month, capital one will have to be dealing with this, ********.Where is the reliability of legend now eh? Matt
  22. Have just heard about my aristo tt from mkiv store, oil pressure switch gone, plus big end shells will be looking at a bill of £2000, oh dear
  23. Hi Aido, mkiv store is in Bristol, Martin James is the guy who runs it, and i would argue he knows more about 2jze and 2jz gte than anyone else, customer service is excellent, he has numerous, supras, and aristo, 350z and showcar and keeps huge amount of spares in stock, also does all mods including single turbo etc etc. WEbsite is www.mkivstore.com.It is 80 miles from my house but would not have the car serviced or sorted by anyone else, worth the trip and his prices are discounted from manufacturers for parts also cheers, ps car has oil leak to sort too and is having full service don't think i will get much change from £1000 which is a pita!! Matt
  24. Well made it the 80 miles in the Aristo TT with coolant leak, temp gauge perfect all the way, typically did not leak when i stopped either, anyway she is at mkiv store now to have good service and oil, coolant leaks sorted, am praying now that it is not too serious!! Matt
  25. Thanks chips, will do, i had been advised to keep fans on cold during journey as it prob is a heater hose, will have plenty of coolant with me, whole journey is motorway so i will take it steady.Do you mean undo the rad cap so it is still on but cannot be pulled off? cheers Matt
