  1. Fair enough. Your compleatly right, I'm completely wrong. The entire LPG industry is fantastic. Based on the above post it would seem nothing will ever go wrong with your car or LPG conversion ever. All information you will receive from different installers will be exactly the same. I'd be more than happy to have one fitted to a car I spent over £25,000 on. Please ignore all my future posts as I obviously know nothing.
  2. with Thats very unfair tarring every LPG installer with the same brush. There is good and bad in everything. Two members have had a positive experience with their chosen installers in my case on more than one occasion, they should not just be rubbished along with the rest of the cowboys that are out there. Mike What I have said doesn't make my opinion unfair. It is my experience with LPG installers. The one's being "tarred" are the numerous ones I have contacted. I am aware that there are good and bad in everything but the installers I had contacted had all differing opinions on what was needed. Each installers opinions of the advice I was given from the others was very negative indeed. I feel your response to my opinion on this is far more unfair. I have said what I needed to say so lets keep this on topic.
  3. In my opinion, don't bother with the LPG conversion. I found a lack of consistency in terms of information from the numerous suppliers and installers that I contacted. Far too big a risk to take in my opinion considering what can and obviously will go wrong. As for the AC, it might be worth checking the filters.
  4. I'm currently staying in Germany and have had a fantastic couple of days. I have taken my LS430 round the Nurburgring four times today. Apart from cooking it's brakes and being a bit of a handful it was a right giggle. Has anyone else taken their LS round the Nurburgring and what did you think of how it performed?
  5. This is why I never had my 430 converted to LPG. Too many differing opinions from too many "expert" installers. When it would all go inevitably wrong then your left with problems like this. Sorry your having these problems.
  6. To be honest Dave you could still gently rev it to 3,000 rpm and no one would know. It's not till you give it a bootfull that it sounds alarmingly monstrous.
  7. They are Toxo. They also have bendy bits and blue bits with pipey bits. Much louder than I was expecting. Just wondering if anyone else had this as well.
  8. Just wondering if anyone has fitted an Injen intake to their LS430 and if so what are your experiences of it?
  9. Lexus never again? You would have had exactly the same problem if you'd have bought an Audi A8 4.2, Mercedes S500, BMW 745i. And from main dealers as well. You've got a years warrenty with the car which you can extend if you want too at the end of the first year. You've got bar none one of the best luxuary cars on the market. A bit of research would have told you that no one these days wants a 2 ton car with a 4.3 litre engine which averages 22mpg if you drive it like a nun with no right foot. Everyone wants the diesel version of these which Lexus don't offer hence massive depreciation. You will always have paid for from a Lexus main dealer anyway but would you have rather bought from somewhere else? Try and get a problem with the car fixed from another used car emporium would be an absolute nightmare. Welcome to the real world of buying and owning Luxury cars from main dealers. You've bought it, now enjoy it for what it is. You don't get somthing for nothing I'm afraid.
  10. My LS430 has 245 45 18's on them at the moment. If I can get conformation that your LS wheels would fit on my car I might be interested.
  11. In terms of LPG, all I can say is don't. I was considering having mine done. I contacted five different companies, who all told me five different things with all the advice differing from one company to another. I have heard of LS430 owners having no problems at all and other owners who's cars were plagued with problems after having an LPG system fitted. If you want economy, and I really hate saying this, BMW730d, Audi A8 3.0tdi or Mercedes S320CDI.
  12. Michelin Pilot Sports are the only tyres I have on my LS430. I have tried Dunlop and Bridgestone, but the Pilot Sports are worth the extra.
  13. It's not always been smiles and happiness on here. These forums have had their problems in the past.
  14. I have the SL2Vi in my 2004 ls430. It comes up as a minidisc changer and also a dvd player so you can watch films on your stanav screen and you don't loose your 6 disc cd changer either.
  15. On mine the EML should be on when you switch on the ignition and should go out after the engine has started. If it's not on when the ignition is switched on then it might sound like someone has been fiddling.
  16. You might be ok looking on ebay. I think there was a 2001 LS430 being broken so it might be worth a look.
  17. I've had a go in three LS460's now and the eight speed gearbox, in my opinion, is no more confused than the six speed in my LS430. Just have a test drive in one and see how you get on. The LS600 has a CVT gearbox so it's gearbox would be less confused but your not going to get one with a £25,000 budget at present. Saying that I am expecting prices to plumet as the LS,RX and GS hybrids will no longer be congestion charge exempt.
  18. The reason is Bridgestone are jap tyres ( i use them on my bikes always ) if you are going to keep the car buy michelins they work out cheaper in the long run as they last longer. I got 10,000 out of the Pilot Sports on the back of mine though.
  19. What I would say is keep away from Dunlops. I had them on mine which have the 18 inch wheels. Best are Michelin Pilot Sports but these are around £220 to £250 per tyre depending on where you go. They have good grip but are quite noisey. Bridgestone Turanza'a seem to be the best all round in terms of noise and grip and they were £160 each.
  20. I've had my LS430 for a couple of years now and I absolutly love it. I went from a 2001 GS300SE and have never looked back. (I'm so glad it never sold by the way :D ) The first thing you have to consider is that even though mine has ran like clockwork, and even though I have extended the warrenty, it has only been wear and tear items that have been replaced, it's going to cost more to run than your IS200. Most of the time my LS is driven like a district nurse and I'm averaging 22MPG at the moment. It will do 27 to 28 mpg on a motorway run though. Also bear in mind if you run the tank down to empty, it's now £100 to brim it with standard unleaded. In terms of servicing, so long as you keep on top of it, you shouldn't have any nasty suprises. It's not a very practicle car though. The back seats don't fold down at all. My Nissan Micra driving school car is more versatile. The plus side, you would not have seen build quality like this before. My LS makes my old GS feel quite ropey. The 4.3 litre V8 is as quiet as a mouse, untill you give it an absolute bootfull. Don't let the 2 tonnes put you off. These things will get up and shift like you would not believe. Remember, they are limited to 155mph. However, they don't like stopping and it will not handle as well as your IS. It like to be treated gently through the bends. In my opinion, it's the best car out there for the money and I have not regrtetted one second of ownership. Hope this helps. Jim.
  21. hi. i am on my 3rd lpg car- the 2nd 430. i do 50k a year.get a professional job done, you will notice the difference in performance and economy.no difference on tickover on my car( 2004 ls 430). flash lube or prins valve care is a must!!!- your valve seats will go eventually!!(from experience.) This is one reason why I didn't go for an LPG conversion in the end on mine. There was so much differing opinions in terms of weather Flashlube was needed or not on the 3UZ-FE engines that it made me wonder weather they knew what they were on about. All the so called experts out there were offering to much differing advice. In my opinion, stay well clear untill there is a standard, not just recomendations from different dealers.
