  1. just love my v8. big, lazy and very comfortable. might not be as fast as the impreza but it ain't no slouch either
  2. nope still got the impreza. just finishing off a few more engine mods for this years drag racing season. scooby shootout in june and ten of the best end of august. gonna try and squeeze 800 ponies out with my new turbo charger but i think i might need a stronger gearbox.just have to see how the pennies go, hitting a deer doesnt help matters. how the hell and i gonna drive a car with a clutch after the lexus (which my mother calls "the mafia staff car"). tried ebay and low and behold an off side light and indicator assembly are for sale, less than lexus want for them anyways :-) cheers sinky
  3. yep these should fit ok. if the rolling radius is more the +/- 5% then speedo indication may be wrong. road noise will be slightly more due to the lower profile and the ride might be a little harsher again due to the 55 profile on the tyre. some tyres are also prone to tramlining so chhose carefully and for *** sake dont even thing of putting budget tyres (hankook et al) on those rims. cheers big sinky
  4. drove over 1000 miles from cairnryan in Scotland to my sisters in Portsmouth last week. drove back yesterday and about 3 miles from cairnryan (the foresty bit after Castle Kennedy) a young deer decided to play tig with my 95 LS400. needless to say the deer lost but i now have no passenger headlight, indicator and the front bumper is completely cracked from top to bottom. I am not prepared to pay Lexus prices for these parts. does anyone know of any breakers that i could get these parts from. I would be prepared to pay for postage and packing to belfast. Needless to say i am not pleased. really sorry about the deer. i did stop further up and walked back but when you hit something at 60mph in an LS400 it tends to come off second best. cheers big sinky
  5. nope the remote will not lock the doors. my mechanic friend managed to get the alarm disarmed and i am now able to lock the car with the key. i will get him to examine the pcb for dry joints, broken tracks etc, but i dont hold out much hope. Can i get another key fob from Lexus if I supply the VIN number of the car? cheers Big Sinky
  6. Hi guys If and when i get back into my car (see the alarm fob thread) i would like the backlit illumination to work on my stereo. the backlight on the climate control is fine but the stereo system has no back light. is it just a bulb of fuse? the actual displays are spot on (no blacking out or characters missing) just annoying at night when i can't see what cd is playing. 5 and 6 changes disc and the track seek button is easy to find but i am just a perfectionist and would like it to work. TIA big sinky
  7. The fob will no longer switch the alarm off. i have changed the battery, cleaned up the fob internally but still no joy. if i put the key in the drivers lock and turn the key it sets the alarm off. is there anyway to reset the alarm i dont want to have to rip out the lexus alarm and put a 3rd party alarm in. cheers big sinky
  8. yep very pleased. makes for very lazy driving but the engine has a slight problem. I can't hear it at tickover :D nice to be able to hold a conversation at 80 mph unlike my subaru :(. anyways subaru get stripped out now for racing only.
  9. thanks guys will take a lokk at the model number and scour ebay to see if i can pick up a bargain
  10. Does anyone know where I might get a spare CD caddy without paying Lexus full price. The little slot to the left of the multichanger looks like it might hold another 2 caddies. 18 cds sounds good to me.
  11. Hi guys n gals Just bought myself a 95 LS400 in black over grey. full lexus sevice history. low milage as well. i had to travel to get it and in my 20 years at looking at cars it is the first car that has been described accurately(thanks Jonathan Evan Car Sales). Drove from cardiff to scotland to get the boat back to Northern Ireland and the car is fantastic. never had cruise control before and it makes driving so easy. buckets of room and everything is electric. You guys know all this anyway so i have just one problem. Wiper Blades. i need a new set and dont know what to go for. Are the PIAA blade worth the money? is there an additive i can put in the washer bottle that will clean the screen but not ruin the paint job. Looking forward to my new relationship with my new mafia staff car. i reckon i could fit 3 bodies in the boot/trunk :D cheers big sinky
