  1. It has a button labeled Trunk opener / cancel which is switched when the glove box is closed . I have pressed it and it did nothing. Tried opening boot with normal button with glovebox open and closed and no difference
  2. Just as an addition to my post. Just tried to open the boot with the remote and it works so problem must be with the button on the dash
  3. Car has suddenly developed two problems 1 The seat belt warning beeper goes off all the time. Seat belt light goes out when you insert the seat belt but after about 5 mph the warning beeper sounds continuously.. Put the passenger seat belt in as well but it made no difference. I would assume the beeper is in the same circuit as the warning light but that goes off and stays off. Below about 5mph the beeper stops. 2 The boot unlock switch will not operate and release the boot. I discovered this as i checked the boot was not open in case this was setting off the beeper. Is there an emergency cable for the boot. I know i could get in by opening the roof but would assume there is a mechanical release somewhere
  4. Put it through the procedure and hey presto i have memory seat control Thanks to everyone who contributed
  5. Thanks for that, i just also picked it up on a US forum. Will try it in the morning and report back. Why do Lexus make things so difficult with having resetting procedures they tell nobody about so we have to rely on knowledgeable forum members to "find out" and advise the rest of us
  6. Interesting as i have just replaced the battery which went AWOL when the car was on a sorn due to me being in lockdown.. The manual says it has its own microprocessor so maybe that needs to be rebooted.........somehow?
  7. All my electric seat controls, mirror controls and steering adjust controls work perfectly. but the memory seat position control; does not work. According to the manual with car in Park and ignition on you press and hold the set button and press button one until a beep is heard. I have tried this several times and i get no beep and button one does not return the seat to the preset position.. Is this a common problem? Is this control separately fused or am i misreading the instructions.
  8. Followed the instructions for cutting the tool rack cover and it was ever so simple after making a cardboard template. i took it a stage further by taking the matting off the spare bit of cover, cut two 1" wide strips and glued them over the rough edge which has given it a very professional finish. I also tried a new dashboard cover made from not slip matting that is used in motor homes to stop crockery slipping around. Unfortunately it was as reflective as the dashboard so not suitable.
  9. Thanks for your help. I have struggled for years with other sites such a the Porsche DDK site but never succeeded as it requires you to upload to a picture hosting site and then download as a URL file.. If an old geaser like me can get it first time then it must be brilliant. Congratulations Lexus Forum
  10. Well well , how easy was that to upload the photos. Thanks to some help it was simple. Much more difficult on the Porsche DDK site. Photos as requested. For the spare wheel i have noted that i have no facility to bolt it in position. There is no hole in the back cover to put a bolt through to secure , however it is jammed in tight so no problem. The antiglare pad works brilliantly but is not a perfect fit. Its the first attempt. The front edge sticks up a bit but it is behind the steering wheel so i cannot actually see it when driving.I am going to use it for a while and if it stays in place then i will make a mk 2 version out of black Suede and a better fit
  11. This has probably been asked a million times but i cannot find any posts to show you how to do it. i have uploaded photos to imgBB but there my success ends. i have the same problem with the DDK forum even though everyone says its easy. Its not easy for me!!!!!!!
  12. Yes i will try to send photos but never been very successful at posting on forums. Cover is nothing special. It is a piece of hemmed black cloth that covers to clock pinnacle and half the dash back to about 2" of the windscreen.. it is be attached with some small velcro patches.
  13. Tried the wheel in the wrong way around ie inside if wheel to rear of the car and it fits much better. Still not vertical but boot flap now fits into the grooves without bending. I have also made a soft black canvas dash cover that i am fitting to the top of the dash over the speedo console. It makes a huge difference to the glare from the dashboard and is not that noticeable. More importantly i took a good hard look at the windscreen.. After 150k there was obvious wear from the wipers and minute scratches all over the wiper arc. Out with the polisher and some cirium oxide and its all polished out beautifully so hopefully my glare problem will have gone. Seems i have to wait for the weekend for the next bit of sunshine to prove it.
  14. So after 3 months of lockdown and car on a SORN i was really looking forward to getting back on the road. Having bought it a few weeks before lockdown i have not had much use out of it. It did not disappoint as they are glorious cars to drive. However found two issues. 1 Wanted the roof down for the first time so had to pull the boot flap over only to find the spare wheel interfered with the flap and although i fitted it ok the flap was bent around the spare wheel. This cannot be correct. The spare leans forward about 10 deg as the rear panel will not allow it to sit upright regardless of which way around i put the wheel. 2 Drive was in the evening with a low bright sun and the amount of reflection of the polished dashboard top in the windscreen was very noticeable and did affect my vision. Has anyone else noticed this or is it my eyes..
  15. Yes i agree. If there is anyone out there with any old Lexus keys they no longer require i will be happy to buy. The number on my good key moulded into the transponder is 50122 11F02
  16. Thanks for the info and advice but I have already downloaded this info and tried to programme the keys. In fact i must have tried about 20 times. i can only summise that the spare keys are broken/ incompatible and will never programme.
  17. What the key costs isn't necessarily what its worth. I believe several years ago Vauxhall and Alfa Romeo got together to design a foolproof locking system to stop people thieving their cars. Because of that i was quoted £1000.00 by Alfa cardiff for a replacement key. When you consider what they cost to make that is just ripping off a captive market and totally unjustified. For what i got for my money the car cost peanuts but that does not mean i am not going to find the cheapest way to run it and if i can find an alternative option at a low price i will . When i run out of other options then i will get one from Lexus.
  18. My recently acquired SC came with 2 keys. Turns out one was a genuine Lexus key and the other a copy. The copy does not work. Tried programming it with the "press accelerator, press brake " procedure but could not programme . Bought a cheapie from China and that will not programme. During the airbag recall visit i asked Lexus Cardiff to try and programme the keys. Despite them not being Lexus keys they tried but again failed. At this point i must tell you what a brilliant experience i had with the visit to Lexus Cardiff. Their service people were extremely obliging, very knowledgeable on the Sc and answered all the questions i posed as a new owner. Top marks to Lexus Cardiff who supplied me with a loan car for 2 days whilst the job was being done. This still leaves me with the problem of having only one key and do not want to pay the £200.00 plus for a Lexus key. I have tried a few local locksmiths but nobody could help. What are my options for getting another key at a reasonable cost
  19. Thanks for the quick responses With regards to the boot light i am not sure where the switch is so took out the lights but still had the same drain. they are also LED bulbs so drain from them would be minuscule. First thing tomorrow its battery tests. The video is a brilliant way of testing in a quick and simple way so that's my next move. Will keep you posted
  20. Just bought the car a few weeks ago had the cambelt done and started to enjoy. a Lexus again. Tried to start it on Friday after a few days idle and battery was completely dead. So dead nothing would show not even dashboard lights. It was if the battery had been disconnected. Changed the battery from another one of my cars and the car fired up. Left it for a day, went to start it and it was flat. Not totally but starter solenoid would just repeatedly click. Checked voltage and it was down to 8 volts so suspect the spare battery is gone, however took off the earth lead and checked with multimeter which showed a current drain of 1 amp. With all electrical items off and presumably the alarm/ immobiliser not being armed this appears to be a big drain on the battery when idle. Is a constant 1 amp drain normal or is there a common problem with these cars that rears it head from time to time? I will be off to get both batteries tested in the morning as a first step.but would welcome any other suggestions
  21. Hi Gary. Copied and pasted your email address but it will not send. Is garypugs2@gmail.com correct?
  22. Just to complete my new purchase i am looking for a spare wheel cover and jack and tool box cover with the cutout to take the wheel cover. Colour required is beige. Anyone got one spare please
  23. Finally got a reply from all previous owners who advised nobody had changed the cam belt. As it was on 150K and i have lots of records of work being done over the years by Lexus i am surprised that they did not mention it to owners at the time the importance of getting this done. Anyway my Local maestro mechanic did it for £160.00 labour plus parts from Europarts so saved me the hastle of what would probably have taken me a week to sort out myself. Today was the day i finally got to drive it for the first time. i was not disappointed. i have previously owned 3 different GS300 cars and they were the best marque i have owned and this took me back to the shear joy of a silent car with total comfort and total luxury. You point it, sit back and relax and it just floats along. Shear joy. It goes in next month for the airbag recall so hopefully i can get the only other problem resolved which is pairing it to my iphone. A small issue as i do not really want to answer the phone when i am out enjoying the drive.
  24. The OEM Aerial is still fitted and the radio works fine it is just that the unit sticks up about 12". Motor is working so the problem is the toothed plastic strip has broken but i do not think these are available separately. Regarding your leak, there is a plastic drain pipe that is fitted to the bottom of the assembly to drain water away out of the boot
  25. The aerial does not work so suspect the drive cable is broken. motor works fine but no movement. Looked on ebay and they all state only suitable for 34.5" units not 42 " units. Have pulled my aerial fully up and it measures about 38" so suspect that including the bit inside it is a 42" unit. Any advice on where i can obtain a reasonably priced replacement shaft
