  1. Just a thought mate, its not an Altezza but think Lee-iceman was still selling his IS200 S/C? but not 100% sure? might be worth a pm to see if its still on the market? :)

yes i realised the one i linked to is an AS200, not the RS200, Will drop Lee a PM and see.

    Cheers

  2. Friend of mine from Holland is looking for a nice clean Altezza or s/c or t/c is200 from UK. He is based out of Holland and ideally would like to pick one up from UK as they work out a lot cheaper than in Ireland with our stupid government tax! Anyone know anything about this car or seller:

  3. Hi,

No i dont have induction kit, everthing on my Tezza is standard as far as i know... I changed the panel filter to a blitz filter, but this didnt make any difference...

Just in the last few days ive started to notice a good improvement in the flat spot and seems to be getting a little better day by day... I changed the plugs as i mentioned and also started using the new Maxol E5 petrol which says its 99 octane, this is my second full tank in 2 weeks so now should be pretty much all Maxol without other petrol mixed... Ive also been driving it quite hard hoping it would blow out the problems if there was a blockage or something...

Could the petrol be making the difference? could it be the ecu adjusting to the higher octane ?

It also seems smoother through the revs and if im not dreaming a little more powerful with this petrol, ill see how it is over the next week or so and give you guys an update...

Running the car on E5 will make it run noticeably smoother. Try resetting your ecu and that may solve things quicker. Apexi filter offers the best filtration and airflow of any of the after market filters. HKS and Blitz provide rather poor filtration. Disconnect the airbox and clean the throttle body, gunk always builds up there just in front of the valve.

  4. Ok changed the plugs to Denso Iridium IK20 and it seems to have improved it a little, but it's still a noticeable flat spot :(

Im going to take it into the garage next week and get them to run diagnostics and see if they can find the prob, i'll report back .

btw, Whitelabelboy have you had any joy in fixing your flat spot yet ?

    Cheers

Do you have an induction kit fitted? If so that could be the problem. If you still have the standard airbox try put that back on to eliminate the induction kit as a cause of the problem. I might still have a spare airbox from my Deceased Altezza at home. Let me know if your interested in trying that.

@whitelabelboy. IK22's are only really needed for supercharged or turbo charged applications

  5. Try Goodyear F1's and you won't know yourself ;)

best handling mod for the Altezza's. Start with good tyres and go from there. Fit the rear anti roll bar first, drive it for a bit and through it around some bends, then fit the front and see can you notice a difference. Had a front strut on my old Altezza, it was just a bit of bling under the bonnet, didnt make a bit of difference to the handling

  6. I'm not sure to be honest, but I would of thought they would just make 1 loom for the AS/RS and only use some of the wires, maybe the manual will shed a bit more light on it when you can look at both at the same time

have a look here. This might help. What wiring in particular are you working on?

  7. Look forward to seeing it mate :)

  9. i've had a flat spot at 2500-3000 revs, gets worst towards the 3000 mark.

its never really been too bad, lately its been getting worst... starting to missfire

spark plugs seem ok'ish how ever there denso TRD IK24 'are these running too cold'

the engine isnt highly modified, just induction kit, manifold ect...

    i've read that the rs200 uses IK20, should i try a IK22??

    thanks in advance

i would switch to IK20 spark plugs, dont know anyone using ik24's?

  10. I think Noel needs a spin in my Legacy so and you will change your mind soon enough. They are more luxurious than that Altezza of yours!

uuuuuhhhhh Dan, did i hit a nerve :hehe:

Nah as usual i'm just stirring.... i'd love a spin in your Legacy sometime...

new B4's are very nice in fairness ;)

next Tezzaworld meet Noel you can test it out!

  11. or buy a Subaru Legacy B4! All the power you want with the luxury of an IS!

But he probably doesn't want to "down grade" .... :whistling:

I think Noel needs a spin in my Legacy so and you will change your mind soon enough. They are more luxurious than that Altezza of yours!

    You're probably right :P

I'm fussy with Subarus. Pound for pound, I'd prefer an Evo. Less common, for a start.

And if I was going to buy a Subaru... it'd be an Impreza. Not a Legacy.

    :offtopic:

Obviously your don't know much about the new shape Legacy's . I haven't seen another one on the road since i've bought it a few weeks back. If you want something that has Impreza/Evo power and has that sleeper look. Subaru Legacy 2.0 GT B4 jdm spec, is worth looking at.(280bhp in standard form). Same ecu and twin scroll turbo as the new Impreza AFAIK. Standard european spec legacy's are muck. B4's and STI's jdm specs are what you want.

  12. I know where you mean

ALtezza held up very well from the looks of it! MAke sure you only price up the best bits for your Altezza! Maybe Legana bumper instead of current one.. wink wink!

  13. When I bought my car it was a fresh import and when I got it off the ship the oil was clean so I didnt bother changing it. 4000 miles later I changed the oil For mobil 1 5W-30 ESP fully sythetic. When i got the car it didnt use any oil but now it is. I have checked for leaks and theres nothing.

Is this oil too thin and getting burnt off somewhere. Would I be better off with a 10W-40 fully synthetic as thats slightly thicker and the viscosity for the UK should be fine as it doesnt get too cold or too hot.

Also can i remove the engine breather pipe from the airbox. Its there to recycle some gases to help with emissions, but that means im getting some dirty air into the engine. Is there a performance advantage to removing this pipe or will it effect the engines running?

    Thanks

i found my altezza ran better on 10w40 i noticed similar with the thinner 5w30 that it burned some oil. Not sure what your referring to with the engine breather pipe, maybe stick up a picture of it.

  14. needing help getting a intercooler for the tezz that will fit behind bumper without stripping air con ect ! i know u can get the blitz one for this but ill not be paying the £850 they are asking when i can get one just as good for less than half the price , this may need to be slimline ect but was wondering if anyone had this problem thereself, piping is not a problem as i can make custom myself but would buy if not to pricy , any help would be appreciated

I think Trust or HKS do one, check out www.nengun.com think they have a few on there. You will need to remove the crash bar though as far as i know

  15. first one isnt a TOMS car , and if you buy from keighley.....well, thats your choice

I contacted Toms in Japan and they verified the the white is a genuine one, based on ID plate and chassis number, silver one, well eh just look at it! Whats the deal with this Keighley place, not looking to buy it myself but one or 2 lads i know are. Tom's editions generally tend to go for mad money alright! The lads from Toms said the way that they were sold were, ten Toyota Netz dealers in japan participated in developing the Toms edition along with Toms. So 10 dealers, sold 10 cars each, all went in less than 24 hours! rare indeed

  16. So came across these 2(possible) beauties on pistonheads:

First one seems way too cheap to be a Tom's and too many non standard parts for it to be genuine i think, and missing the all important ID plate showing its number x/100

    http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/455694.htm

    Not sure about this one:

Monster mat or Dave @ Prolex are very in the know about the Tom's editions if i remember right?

  17. Red Mica Like an oxido/orange color.

u were the one who had all the spoilers in carbon fiber?

:offtopic: Ill be in the Dominican republic for 2 weeks in September. Must keep an eye out for all these Altezza's

are u gonna be staying in the city or in a hotel in turstic zone, out off the city?

Punta Cana, but plan on going for a drive about th place. If you see some crazy Irish man in a rental car flashing lights like crazy at you and hanging out the window, thats me
