  1. edit: just found this site.. look at the quote on the bottom left about toyota keys.. there is hope! http://www.lostcarkeys.co.uk/
  2. how strange how i spotted this topic after coming on here to post about exactly the same thing. I have an aftermarket transponder key and not the remote keys.. after spending 150 quid on a new lexus key i found out that i cannot programme the keys transponders to my car... the central locking is fine.. just cannot start the car. I too have been stitched up with keys. stupid of Lexus not to be able to order extra keys even if we have to prove ownership.
  3. Hi Guys I am thinking of buying a new Lexus.. brand new in fact. However, I was thinking of the Lexus Finance. As many members here have probably used lexus finance before I was wondering if this is a good thing to do or not. Using Lexus finance calculator i managed to get some figures. if I stick 5K deposit on a IS220d (basic model) for a 2 year term it works out at £302 a month.. this is affordable. Question is 1. the original 5k deposit.. i presume that is lost after the 2 year term? 2. when the 2 year term ends and i decide to get a another new lexus and do an exchange will i have to place a deposit again? does anyone have any other good ideas on financing a new Lexus? many thanks!
  4. hi guys i used 247spares.co.uk and i had 3 replies in 10 mins. Cheapest was £400 plus VAT from a 37,000 mile 2001 model. will the 2001 box be ok in a 2000 pre-facelift model?
  5. Over the last few weeks i have noticed rough transmission changes and also juddering when reversing. I have been told the transmission is on its way out and to refurb it would cost £1400 Does anyone know where i can get a cheaper tranny or maybe a second hand one? thanks
  6. Hi Guys My car was a repossesion and an after market imobiliser was fitted. I dont have the original code and i only have 1 transponder key that fits the aftermarket imobiliser. So i have no option but to get an aftermarket alarm due new keys for the lex is just too much money. What is the best after market alarm system i can get with a budget of £350? I would like remote start with this. Does remote start affect your insurance at all? many thanks
  7. Hi Today was a nice day to take a drive. Whilst driving through a forest road I had the window down and could here the engine noise echoing off the trees and could hear the engine quite clearly. However, every time i blipped the throttle i could here a slight pinking noise. Only a couple of pinks every throttle blip. When i put my foot down more I could hear the pinks a bit more but not too noisey. Does anyone know the cause of this? and how can i fix this please? many thanks
  8. there are ways where you can pay a few quid without putting your NI at risk Also remember that when you pay NI your company must pay the same amount. Basically NI is paid twice by the company. If you paid £40 NI then the company has to also pay £40.. so they see £80 dont hold me on self employed though.
  9. I had the fluid changed.. they sucked all the fluid out instead of drained. The fluid was jet black I am gonna run this for a few months and then change it again so I can flush out the remaining old oil that was left in the torque converter. £40 they checked out the transmission and they reckon there is nothing wrong with it.. i was paranoid.
  10. update I replaced the air filter, cleaned MAF sensor and Throttle Body and I have not had a single engine light on since. So if anyone ever gets P1121 = Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor/Range Performance code then that could be cause of the problem.
  11. hi paul its the big aliminium piece sitting on top of the engine.. dont have any pics sorry. the rubber tube is attatched to it. Inside is the butterfly valve thingy
