  1. I'd suggest taking out the rear seat and removing the ski hatch thrn you can see what you are working at. My Sub looks through the hatch.... See my full install HERE any comments welcome regards Wozza
  2. So what kind of class did you enter into ? SPL (Sound Pressure Level ie fookin loud) or a more HQ Sound class ? I used to be up on all this about 10 years ago, just enjoy good sounds but interested to see how you got on etc... pics / write up ? how do you think I'd get on with MINE ?
  3. Anyone know of a place in SE London/Kent area please ? thanks for your help !!
  4. THIS THREAD may help about iso connector + stuff.
  5. To remove the Amplifier behind the Glovebox or unbolt to help change the lead over ! If u undo the 2 bolts holding the amp in place and cut the 2 cable ties securing the wiring loom to the amp, it gives u a bit more freedom Have you unbolted the amp from the frame holding it in place? If you unbolt, with a bit of gentle force and movement you can just about get it away from the frame slightly and move it out towards you, then I took off the plastic door trim piece (just pops off) and then you can pull away the plastic side piece below the glove box to give yourself another way of getting your hand to the plug. Thats how I did it anyway.
  6. erm product not found....for your head unit you will probably need the facia kit (I'd suggest u sand and repaint with satin black) There is a lead on ebay so you can use the original amp (I take it yours has one behind the glove box on the left) The lead is about £45-60 LINK 1 LINK 2 The Autoleads Fascia FP-25-00 £20 The facia you can buy from ebay too (normally £15 plus £5 p+p) or Halfords for £20 LINK FACIA 1 LINK FACIA 2 See my finished repainted + Modded facia HERE :winky: (single DIN) The same paint etc can be used for the kit when you assemble it as Double DIN
  7. medium then fine grade wet + dry, Halfords Plastic Primer (spray can) very fine (1200) wet + dry with water Halfords Satin Black (spray can) 2-3 coats 2 hours between coats. et voila !!! Well worth the effort. Give it 3-4 days drying time to harden before you install the finshed Facia or u will get fingermarks in the paint . ( I found this out whilst admiring my work)
  8. Head unit was replaced, & so were the speakers Front + Rear. I took out the Amp as extra weight and didnt want it sitting there draining the voltage. Don't know if it would drain voltage, but wasn't too much hassle to remove it. All my speakers are powered by Amps in the boot, via 3 HQ RCA leads so didnt need standard connector, so all I needed was Power, Ignition, Earth + Aerial cable. Doddle !! I also Sanded and Painted the Double DIN housing so it matched the dash better ...... The Autoleads housing (same as ebay ones) that can be modded to take Double DIN or Single DIN comes with a rough bobbly finish thats also too glossy. Here is an UN-Modded kit for single DIN. The bottom section with the silver and black boxes will not be there on yours as it will be filled with the Double DIN Head Unit. Look at the finish .. Will the finish be ok for you ? I'd suggest you get a kit and compare it first leaving enough time to mod it if if you want to. Autoleads Fascia FP-25-00 is the number you will need. Have a look at my post, any comments welcome. Any other info send me a PM. MY FORUM POSTHERE Good luck
  9. I thought the lead from ebay was so you can add an aftermarket Head Unit with the standard speakers and amp ?
  10. I removed the amp from behind the glovebox. It's a fiddly knuckle grazing job, but shouldnt take more than 1 hour or so of jiggling. Remove the glovebox by pushing the locating pins at the bottom towards the centre and once you undo the glovebox lock it should just drop away. To remove the Amplifier behind the Glovebox or unbolt to help change the lead over. If u undo the 2 bolts holding the amp in place and cut the 2 cable ties securing the wiring loom to the amp, it gives u a bit more freedom. Have you unbolted the amp from the frame holding it in place? If you unbolt, with a bit of gentle force and movement you can just about get it away from the frame slightly and move it out towards you, then I took off the plastic door trim piece (just pops off) and then you can pull away the plastic side piece below the glove box to give yourself another way of getting your hand to the plug. There is a bit of the lug u need to push in to remove the cable from the ampo. Thats how I did it anyway. Hope this helps, for the wiring u need to talk to Fargo Finally MINE'S ALL FINISHED :D
  11. 2 screens in the front is being greedy (but nice) :D
  12. 13902 13903 are the head unit models with the amp
  13. Looking at the motorised unit and monitor as a package Need a guinea pig willing to travel to Hampshire or S E London with a IS200 IS300 without sat nav Sent a PM , no reply, I am in SE London. Whats the Cost guys ?
  14. It doesn't matter how tight the fit, :P I've years of practice gettin em in :o
  15. no, it was the largest I could find. :winky: My ex wife always told me bigger was better, the secret is in the thickness not the length. :o
  16. Thank you Rikos for the kind comments. Please have a look at my full post, MY CAR HERE it includes Pictures + a link for a video to download, comments are welcome !! here is the picture of my 0 AWG Power Cable + Fuse Holder, showing the passage through the bulkhead to the left front footwell from the right side of the battery. (Earth Side) (Picture shows the cable moved from normal position so you can see where it goes) and here is the fuse back in place as normal Any problems remember lots of pics and other info either on my forum post HERE IS MY CAR or anything else you need you can email me. I have pictures and how too's on most stuff. Regards Wozza
  17. Sorry, I probably didn't make myself clear, I have already bought the bypass lead and I am planning on removing the OEM amp. Hi, I thought the reason for buying the bypass lead was that you could use the original amp and speakers with a new Head Unit ? (maybe I'm wrong on that, somone will correct me if I am). I have a full system that has replaced all the stock items withAlpine + JL Audio. New Head Unit, Speakers front + Rear, 2 Amps in boot plus Sub Box. See pictures + info HERE (please read my post , pictures + a video download link there, any comments welcome !! ) I used 0 AWG from front, down the left side of the car to the boot, then splitting to 4 AWG. The other amp is mounted behind the JL Audio as I wanted to leave as much space in my boot. If you open the front passenger door, unclip the trim along the top edge, u will find u can unclip the trim panel under the glovebox. The glovebox removes simply by unclipping the 2 pins that are through the brackets at the bottom. Push from the outsides towards the center of the glovebox, pull the pins out, & and support the weight when u undo the glove box handle. You will then see the Amp you no longer need on the left, remove it as you no longer need it. I will take a picture later today of where my Power Cable goes through from the battery. Power leads up the left side, RCA Phonos up the middle, speaker leads down the right side. Thats the best way to avoid interference. There is a place on the right side when you remove the rear seats to pass Power cables through. Easy to see all when you remove the rear seat (which you will need to do to replace the 6x9's) Message me your e-mail addy and Ill send you any more info you need. Regards Wozza
  18. Just wandering how it looks and if anyone got any pics? see my full install HERE
  19. Hi, thats the Autoleads kit I used for mine. Just needs some filler to remove the join lines, wet + dry, primer and satin black paint. A bit of effort, & it does the job nicely with no join lines or gaps. Wozza
  20. The other problem is apparently getting hold of a fascia blanking plate to reduce the hole to single Din size, I'm led to believe. Hi Nev, please look at my post, HERE there are part numbers there for the 2 facias that I know will fit, also pictures of mine (Autoleads modded by me) that was fitted last week. I have pictures not posted, send me a PM with your email and I can send anything u need. regards Wozza
  21. aR6e send me a PM with an email address (and a number if u want me to call u) and I will send u lots of info u will need, pictures and instructions for removal, plus options for facias that will take a double din Headunit. I bought an Autoleads Facia, which can be adapted to Single din with cubbyhole, 2 single din, or a 1x Double din unit. The only problem I found with this kit is that the front surface doesn't match the IS200 interior dash panel. The surface is too glossy, and also bobbly too. I remidied this with some wet + dry, plastic primer, and satin black paint from Halfords. Look HERE and HERE to see my install completed last week. You will be able to use the same technique on the Autoleads Facia Kit to get similar results. HERE is a picture of an AUTOLEADS kit assembled with a double Din fitted unit. Notice the sandpaper texture of the surround. It is also too glossy for the dash. There is another option, Toyota do a factory option part for the Altezza that is double din, but think u lose the heated seats or traction control slots. Autoleads Facia FP-25-00 (£20 from Halfords or Ebay £20 inc postage) Toyota ORIG TRIM 55413-53010 (about £45) I have lots of info u will find helpfull, planned my install for about 8 weeks till I was sure I knew all I needed to. This may sound like overkill, but I have a 2 amp system with sub and full Alpine speakers /head unit combo fitted, and all went smoothly because I knew where everything was going to unbolt & go etc... hope this helps Wozza
  22. Hi, I had my car install done last week, all went smoothly. RESEARCH + PLANNING ARE THE KEY. I also have an IS200SE. What do you want to do ? A new Head Unit, or an Amp or the whole lot replaced ? The problem with the Lexus Stereo in the SE model is that it has it's own amp, and the rear 6x9's are BI-Wired to the Amp and cant be reused. Also the Lexus Head Unit has no pre-out RCAs. I am in Bromley and if you get up this way you can see the results (I will be trying to post some pictures of my install on the forum). Message me and I'll message u back my number and I'll give u any info or email pictures u need . (I have word docs, and pictures to show most things being Dissaembled or Replaced etc). Read my signature to see what is in my system... It's AWESOME !! B) Regards Wozza PS HERES SOME PHOTOS OF MY INSTALL , message me if u want any info
  23. Looking at the motorised unit and monitor as a package Need a guinea pig willing to travel to Hampshire or S E London with a IS200 IS300 without sat nav Hi, PM Sent !! regards Wozza
  24. I have a toploading CD head unit from my 2001 IS200SE (the one with the amplifier). I also have a set of rear 6x9's removed not 10 minutes ago, along with the Amp from behind the glovebox (what a pain in the backside to remove ). My Head unit may or may not be of use to you as it is working fine . (being replaced by a full Alpine system as we speak) If anything here is of interest to you then send me a PM. regards Wozza
  25. Hi Chris The sport and the SE have an amplifier behind the glovebox on the left side. These (Sport + SE) have an 8 speaker stereo system rather than the 6 you may think is there. The Rear 6x9's are run as 2 subs + 2 midrange/tweeters. When you look at the underside of the rear 6x9's you will see the wires going to the speakers, these carry a bass signal (which is what you want) but no mid + treble. The mid/reble is wired over the top on the rear deck under the speaker cover/shelf. You can splice into these wires under the deck to get your speaker level sub signal. Depending on your Sub and Amp combination, I would suggest 4AWG (American Wire Gauge) is a good place to start for your Power + Ground leads, I am currently running a JL Audio 12W7 + 500/1 Amp(monster £700 sub = £450 Amp)running exactly as I have described, from the rear 6x9's for the bass signal. This all changes on Monday as I have a full Alpine system going in to replace the Lexus factory Eqt. New Alpine Head Unit, Front components, Rear 6x9's + Alpine 4 channel Amp , plus keeping my killer bass. I will be taking some pictures of the install and finished System. Hope this info helps, any problems please send me a message. I don't know which wire is ACC, but will find out tomoz.... best regards Wozza
