I'm getting quotes for around four hundred quid, which is a lot of money to spend on a 9 year old car. If I went for the cheap option of painting over the diamond coat, would that ruin the look? What's a reasonable price?

Hello everyone, I've been a member a long time, but don't post much. I currently own a IS200, but will be moving from Ireland to the UK soon. I'll probably rent near the office initially, but would like to buy a car to give me freedom to explore. The thing is, I don't know the in's and out's of buying in England, where as I'd know every detail about buying in Ireland. Given this, could you point me to a sticky or a buyers guide that would help educate me? Information about the MOT, once of taxes on cars, recurring motor taxes, general expenses. Thanks guys!

Sounds like the pistons are not being installed properly or the pistons surface is damaged, and the o-rings are being destroyed less likely not enough copper grease

Hi guys, haven't posted in ages, but I'm back for your expert help in nailing down a pain in the face dash / dashboard rattle / squeak I think it's coming from the dashboard binnacle, the dark shroud around the instrument cluster. When I place a finger against the area circled in red, (just to the right of the fuel gauge) the rattle is much less pronounced. How can I fix this? apart from driving a 6" nail through it biggrin.gif I don't seem to be able to attach a picture?

The engine is the heart of any car, change that and you are making a big change. Please don't buy an Altezza, just buy an IS and don't turn it to sheite by sticking a stupidly loud kiddies exhaust on it. I cringe each time I see a 'tezza' with a exhaust the size of a main sewerage drain, tinted windows, booming music and other cretinous rubbish. Their website would suggest the 2002 Irish/UK IS200 isn't supported for iPod nano or anything

How does adding a SC to the IS affect your insurance policy? In Ireland, where I'm from, the insurance company would hand me a jar of vaseline and tell me to bend of the barrel. The IS200 is a bit sluggish, but I'd say it's great with a bit more poke
