  1. In my experience, this is most effective way of eliminating squeaks and rattles from a Lexus. Get a real Car, 1985 Series one RS turbo. Drive it for a couple of hundred miles and then get back in the Lexus. This will improve: Clutch, brakes, lights, sound system, upper arm and calf muscle strength and much much more.
  2. Thanks for that. Going to get the geometry done on monday along with a new set of tyres. Only one thing I wondered though. My IS is a UK RHD, I'm in the Czech republic, the knowledge base says something about UK/Europe settings. Does it make a difference? Once again, thanks for the help. Stew
  3. Yes, chains are only for serious weather. even the Czechs don't use them that often. They've all got winter tyres though. They seem to make a hell of a difference even on RWD cars. I'd tell you if I had some but I run on summer tyres all year and get the chains out only when i get stuck.
  4. Just had my 200 up on the ramps. The front tyres are completly through to the threads on the inside edges but the rest of the tyres (outside edges) are like new. Is this normal? Any advice?
  5. It's true, Traction control turns you into a ***** driver. Much more likely to get caught out. As for the best option in snow, got to be snow chains. I got stuck in the middle of a forest in the czech republic. If I didn't have the snow chains I'd still be there now. Once the chains are on it's like driving on Tarmac. Well worth the money. Otherwise it's FWD.
  6. Thanks very much for the info. How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking.
  7. Had a BM 3 Series last year (In the Czech Republic) Smashed 2 M3 wheels and destroyed 3 tyres. Low profiles are no good in the Czech Republic. If you've been here you'll understand what I mean. They'll take the top surface off the road to about 3 or 4 inches deep so its like a step edge and then leave it with no warning. Thought it was just me until I went to the BMW dealership in Ostrava a saw the alloys lined up with split tyres and smashed wheels. It's not going to happen with the Lexus this year. Steel rims with big blobby tyres will do the trick.
  8. Morning, Had the same problem when I first got my IS. It wasn't working when I bought it. The dealership (Toyota Scunthorpe) said it was because the car had been standing for a long time and the battery had gone flat. They said they didn't have the computers to fix a Lexus so I had to take it to Lexus Grimsby. (3 hours before my ferry out of the UK) Lexus Grimsby said both remotes wouldn't accept coding???. I ended up getting on the boat with no central locking. Went to a Toyota dealership in the Czech Republic, left the car for an hour, They phoned Lexus Brno, fixed it and charged my 50czk (75p) for a battery.????? Top Quality Service (In CZ anyway)
  9. Does anybody know if there are any steel rims available with stud spacing to fit an IS200? (From a Toyota model etc) Need them to put a set of winter tyres on. Thanks
  10. Good Morning People, Can anyone tell me where I can get hold of a Stereo for a 99 IS200SE. The original one has the CD at the bottom, Jams-up and shows ERR3. Been watching E-Bay but there only ever seems to be the unit with the CD at the top. Same at the breakers. (This won't work, Right?) Please help! You could tell me to listen to the radio instead. No problem if you live in the UK. I live in the Czech Republic and don't speak Czech. The stuff they play on the radio is s*1t. Thanks Stew in the Czech Back of Beyond Land of potholes, Skodas and 200kg wild pigs
