Hmmmm, I'm still not convinced on this one. £1700 for the install, you'd need to do a serious amount of milage before you saw any savings, (ok I accept you have a dodgy supply of gas), but for avearage Joe, if he pays around 80p per litre for petrol and gets gas at half that, he would need to save the £1700 in fuel, ie. spend £3,400 on gas. Now, I do fairly high milage, (20-25,000 miles per year) and I spend around £3k on fuel,(petrol), per year. So I guess it would take around 2 years, or 50,000 miles on gas before you see any savings. Add that to the 46k on your car and by the time you have saved the initial cost of conversion, its time to get rid of the car.

Ok folks, my Mk2 GS has the headlamp washer switch located on the dash to the left of the steering column. When I used to press it, it would spray just enough loverly water onto the headlamps giving them a nice clean. Now when I press said button the washer stays on untill my washer bottle is completly depleted, the pump only turning off if I turn off the ignition. When I turn the ignition back on the washer is back at 'rest'. Q1. Should the washer work only while the switch is depressed. Q2. Does the switch operate some magic trickery timing circuit that allows water to flow for a few seconds. Q3 (and most important of all). How do I fix it. Answers on a postcard..........

I have the same car and, yes, it should have been done about every 60,000 miles but, as yours has just got to 120k, I would look under the bonnet. If it was done by a dealer they are supposed to put a sticker on the engine somewhere obvious which tells you when it was done and when its due to be re-done. Oh and its not cheap, i had mine done last year and i think it was in the region of £450 - go Gold and get the discount.

Got it through my bank (Lloyds TSB) and, from memory, the excess was £300 but lets face it, unless its gonna be a big claim we dont use the insurance anyway so the excess is irrelevent really (unless it huge). Incidently, I have a Suzuki GSX1300 Hayabusa and, after being knocked off the previous bike, the insurance was £1600 with an £1100 excess for the interim year where I was waiting to reclaim my ncb as it was a no fault accident. It costs around £200 for a service - every 4000miles, needs a new rear tyre every 4K (£120) and a new front tyre every 8K (£80), - so the Lexus is as 'cheap as chips' to run as far as I'm concerned.

Did you have the discs done at a dealer? If not it might be worth getting an independent assesment on them as I had the same problem, which turned out to be the discs, even though they were new they were slightly warped :tsktsk: Another thing to have checked would be the suspension bushes as these are a known issue.

I too have a Mark 2 GS300 SE (on an 'S') with dodgy bushes. Lexus want over a grand to do the job less my Gold discount :D , which stil makes it a little over £800 Looks as though this could be a common problem, still, I didnt notice anything wrong with the suspension and/or steering, Lexus only mentioned it at the last service as it will be an mot failure in September :tsktsk: Andy
