  1. I've been driving for 50 years in all terrains and conditions. But my 1998 LS400 baffles and alarms me. Even with the snow button pressed and the gentlest right foot, it will refuse to move off in the presence of snow and ice. Therefore when snow and ice are forecast I despair and leave it at home and drive off in my old Citroen BX. This is inconvenient, but if I encountered snow or ice on my return journey, I'd have to be prepared to stay with the car until Spring!
  2. I have a 1994 LS 400 and I love it, but the battery runs down if i leave it for a week. I think for a car of this quality, this is redicullous, because I can't leave it parked at an airport when I go on holiday. Any suggestions please - a larger battery or a smaller car! correction I have a 1998 LS400 and had the battery replaced by Lexus because I thought the old one was faulty but it made no difference. I also have a 1993 Citroen which never fails to start. Happy New Year! Thanks Pete that's a good point I'll take it to Lexus in Guildford and see if there is an unusual drain.

  5. The following are my best estimates of fuel consumption for my 1998 Mk 4 LS 400. Local 22 mpg Local plus motorway 27 mpg Motorway 30mpg On each trip I filled the tank at the beginning and the end. I have had my Lexus for three months and am still grappling with tank avaerage, etc. so use this simple method to work out consumption. 6. Thank you - I had the same problem - I'd accidentally pressed the boot key locking mechanism and found that I could no longer release the boot from insside the car - I've just inserted the master key and voila all is well. Thank you again
