  1. Alan, Thank you so much for going to all this trouble. I really didn't expect you to go to the lengths you have, but I'm delighted you did and it's much appreciated. Good advice thanks, I'll take a look at the weekend.
  2. Thanks very much for the steer. I am very pleasantly surprised as both prices are much cheaper than I thought. Do you know the approx age / mileage of the car when it failed? My local Lexus dealer says it's very rare to have to change them.
  3. Hi Alan, I'm pretty sure the GPS antenna isn't built into the rear window. I do know that manufacturers usually build them into things like the door mirrors, bumpers, a fin on the roof or as you say under the dash - Anywhere that "can see the sky". You should have a GPS sign in the top left of the display. What colour is it? Mine ranges from being out to red, to yellow to green. I'm guessing it's connected to the signal strength and number of satellites it can see. All advice is welcome. Thanks in advance. Steve
  4. Hi All, Does anyone know where the GPS antenna is for the satnav on the Series IV please? Thanks in advance. Steve
  5. Hi Chez, The Suzuki Wagon R is applauded for driver and passenger space. http://www.verdictoncars.com/jsp/vocmain.j...ki%20Wagon%20R+ Shall I see if we can get a deal on two? lol
  6. Thanks Glenn. I'm 6'3" but short in the Leg (31") and "long" from the waist up which means headroom is usually a problem where a sunroof is involved. I've tried just about every position (seat position that is) that I can think of so will just have to live with it I think.
  7. Hi All, I did a round of 263 miles yesterday with a mixture of motorways, A roads and (annoyingly) got caught up in the rush hour's crawling traffic for over an hour. The car drove well,. I drove pretty gently, not an economy run in lane 1 by any means, I kept up with the traffic flow in lane 3 and as mentioned above I did get stuck in a load of traffic; equally I didn't use any heavy kickdown and kept below 3k revs. I was pretty pleased with the 26.8MPG showing on the computer for "Average Tank" only to be pretty disappointed with the REAL tank to tank figure of 24.2MPG. Still not bad though! Has anyone else noticed their computer is way off the mark? Did Lexus build this in to make us feel good? lol
  8. Actually.........Kwik Fit is looking better in their "sale": Pirelli P zero Asim - Tyre Size 245/50Z17 Tyre Price £186.00 each Buy 2 of these Pirelli tyres for £158.10 each Buy 4 of these Pirelli tyres for £139.50 each This offer ends on 2nd February. So £598 for 4 fitted and balanced etc. Better but still a lot of money!!
  9. All, Thanks very much Guys. chrisfs / ROYT - I can't find the tyres online for less that £190 ish so if you do have any info it will be hugely appreciated!!! chrisfs - Did you ever change your springs? What was the squeaking you referred to? (I'm just curious) Thanks again.
  10. As many of you know. Ticking the DHP (Dynamic Handling Pack) option gave the Lexus 17" alloys with 245/50/17 tyres. 1) Does anyone know what the official pressures are for these tyres? The handbook and all the stickers on the vehicle refer to the 16" standard wheels / tryes there is no reference to the 17s anywhere! 2) It seems that the only tyre to come in this size is the "Pirelli Pzero Asimmetrico" at an eye watering £190 each (fitted). Does anyone know if I have the choice of choosing another (much cheaper) 17" tyre or do I have to have these every time. Thanks in advance.
  11. OK, well the auto tilt has got worse and worse. I've come to the conclusion that it's not connected with the ignition barrel as the 4-way switch was struggling to shift the wheel as well. I was having to jiggle the key in and out of the ignition and hope it would come down / go back in etc. Nightmare! Anyway............the stolen vehicle tracking device was fitted on Monday, the engineer needed to remove the instrument clocks to do this and it's been fine ever since. I'm just hoping there was a loose connection somewhere and him ripping the dash and out putting it back together has solved it. Fingers crossed!!!
  12. Great if you're buying but traders selling at this price only go to hammer the value of the vehicles we own. I guess there is an element of the vehicle being sold at its market price, but even so, it still gets on my wick.
  13. Mine is version 3.7 (release 03-04) so well out of date! It's an expensive excercise so I think I'll live with it.
  14. I'm going to take the old bus over to Le Mans in June. Does anyone know what I should do about having the headlamps adjusted for driving in France? Thanks in advance.
  15. The traffic information is piped into your satnav over a system called RDS TMC. Nearly all onboard sat nav systems use this method where the traffic information is received on a separate tuner. You can read about this concept here...........> http://www.rdstmc.co.uk/ There is nothing actually wrong with the hardware itself, it's purely "bad" information coming in. There are two TMC suppliers in the UK, Trafficmaster and ITIS. ITIS supply Lexus......................> www.itisholdings.com/lexus.asp So in short, t's them you need to feedback to.
  16. Peter, I'm stunned to see the prices they are selling for in the Netherlands. The equivalent vehicle in the UK would have cost about £50k when new and is now worth between £3.5 and £6k depending on mileage, condition etc. etc. Either way, there is a lot of difference!!! Big thirsty V8s are fast going out of favour here and will probably be priced off the road 5 years from now so we need to enjoy them whilst we can!
  17. The LS is a big heavy car and with an auto box it doesn't encourage engine braking which means the brake discs and pads really do have their work cut out. It's quite easy to get the brakes glowing red if you're driving with vigour between roundabouts (eg Milton Keynes where there is one ever 200 yards!) and they can warp quite easily - especially if u sit in traffic afterwards with your foot on the brake. Being brakes, it's worth getting them checked but suspect it's going to be something you'll have to live with until the next disc / pad change.
  18. It moves out ever so slightly when I turn on the ignition. Anyone any idea why?
