  1. Happy Birthday evian!

  2. hi thanks for the speedy replied. The problem with the car when it failed is complete loss of power (i.e when pressed the gas padle it does nothing - need to restart the engine for it to come back) some the original coils pack are failing and everytime I put 2-3 new coils in the car run very sluggish - like loosing 50% of its power. BTW I am in East London
  3. hi all What do I have to do to sus out the failed coil(s) pack? I do not have the reader at the moment. Recently I brought some coils (seconds) to replaced the failed ones. I tried to replaced one by one to see if the failed one standout, but it's endless combination, plus I don't know it failed in pairs or more! When I replaced the order coil packs, the lights on the dashboard disappeared, but the problem still comeback. Also all of my orignal coils are B8 but some of the coils pack I brought are A4 or A7 what are the different between them? they all have the same part number! Can someone shed some light for this problem! cheeers
  4. Thank you for everyone reply - yes the engine rev normally it does not go up or down, it just lost rev completely at times and I have to restart the engine to drive again but not for long it will happen again. The yellow light on the right hand side above the rev meter and the flashing traction control light at the bottom left handside. I am thinking of taking it to the local garage to have it check up, but don't know if they can do a good job, also wanted to go to the dealer, they probably do a good job but it will be pricey and don't think it worth it cos of the age of this car - but I want to keep it as it really difficult at the moment. Can anyone shed some more light? :)
  5. I was driving home yesterday from work, when I stationed at a junction and for some reason, the car has completely lost its power, when tried to rev it, it completely dead - even though the engine still running. Then I noticed the yellow light came up and the the Trac-control light flashing. Turned off the engine and let it cool down a little then fired it up again, this time it was running and I can rev it, but only for a short drive distance then it happened again. Luckily I was managed to drove the car home after much stops and starts...I did check the oil level before and when it cooled shown it full and no sign of leakage. Checked the battery level shown green and full, the spark-plugs seems ok, because the car always start 1st time. I noticed the clutch jugger alot lately and it hasn't been replaced for a long time and I suspect it may be the wear of the clutch? If the clutch is gone will the ECU will shut down the engine? If I to replace these clutch do I need to replace all parts of the clutch (there usually 3 parts including the release bearing)? Can someone shed some light on to this problem...my car is an SE/2000 model 140k on the clock. Thanks in advance
  6. My radiator has gone recently (leaking badly) so I decided to have it changed. Got a 16m core from plaza part ltd for £120 (they sell on ebay) and tried to fit it only find out that the thermo stat switch (the one on the radiator) is different size to the one on the 16mm core. Phone lexus customer service they said there are 2 types for the 2000 (W reg) namely 16 or 27mm core (both ~£260). Does the core of 1999-2001 models of is200 different to the 2002 onward? but I am sure the thermo switch surely different (between both). To have the 16mm fitted the switch needs to be replace?
  7. My lexus is200 radiator is leaking rather bad and needs to be replaced asap. I picked up a new rad £120 and the man said its OEm parts and would suitable for both MT/AT, I had a look at it and saw the thickness wasn't as thick as the original also the new rad has 2 copper pipes they said its for cooling oil. I decided to pay the xtra £50 to have it fitted (including coolant) not sure if i got rip off as I needed the car. Anyway as they tried to install the new rad only to found that my W reg has a different thermostat switch to the new radiator. Are all the rad have same sizes and same thermostat switch?
  8. Thanks for reply yes the cd unit is a bottom loader...currently it flashes the ERR3 message, well if it isn't compatible guess I'll be looking for the working unit bottom load...will all the early unit (bottom loader) compatibility with each other? thanks evi
  9. Hi all I am about to purchase a stereo unit for my 2000(W) is200 SE as the one in the car has ERR3 showing currently. The new stereo unit came out of the 54 plate, which is much newer model. Does it compatible with my old lexus? if not, is/are they anyway around it. Many thanks evi :)
